Would this classify as a good engine to chassis ground...Lettuce Discuss... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v704/hiitsmejimmy/rx7064.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v704/hiitsmejimmy/rx7066.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v704/hiitsmejimmy/rx7067.jpg

I was cleaning up the engine bay in the FD and bumped the abs pump. I noticed a VERY small leak on the inlet on the FR and FL lines, the rear is fine. I replaced the copper washers and it was still leaking around the upper and lower copper washer. WTF this is driving me nuts?? Am I thinking about this to hard? To tight? To loose? Bad crush washers? I'd imagine torque spec woulnd't be more than 14-20 ft/lb. The new washers seem to have a round side and flat. Flat down? up? does it matter? update.. I heated the washers up with a torch, let them cool and was able to get one line to seat. The other washer wont compress at all. The top seated but the bottom is leaking BARELY.

Only regret is the front beam. It's narrowed 5 inch without shocks and went a click 2 low in the rear which makes it difficult to navigate steep hills! It has ghia disks with a dual master so it stops excellent! There is always something poping up on the samba, best of luck and keep us posted!

You mean the one linked in post #4??

Id look early-mid 60's bug. This past summer I picked up a 62, originally a california car so it's solid as a rock. Got it to the point it is now and took it on a 300 mile trip before I put it away for the winter and the 1914 with dual 48 ida's didn't miss a beat!. Not the most comfortable car but what a blast to drive with the top open! I dont think you could go wrong with an older bug but do some research and know the common problem areas and look it over before you make the deal! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v704/hiitsmejimmy/38020395.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v704/hiitsmejimmy/38020412.jpg

No I just had a few extra relays from when I fixed the torque converter lock up and such, I wired it up up using 10 ga wire. I was just unsure if the pcm delivered 12v or a ground! I never trusted the stock 17 year old relays or the paper clips IPS installed!. O well i'm glad it took a shit in the garage rather then on the highay! Car fired right up! Only thing I could think is that the paper clip IPS installed to bypass the high speed relay was defective and staples happened to be closed so I was unable to source new paper clips! Thanks again for the diagram!

Well once again the FD is being a pain in the ass. I go to start it and immediately notice the fuel pump isn't priming. Check out all the wiring and fuses and things check out fine. I replace the paperclip in the high speed relay incase it was defective. I believe the GM PCM sends a 12v signal to the relay and not a ground?? If I were to wire a 30amp relay would the relay be wired as so? gm lead at 86, 85 is ground, 30 is battery, 87 to fuel pump.? Just thought I'd check because with my luck this damn thing would blow up!

They were banded but when I received them the rod had sunk and the band was just laying in the box....
-
Bought 4 new KYB GR2's for the FD and go to intall them and follow the procedure about compressing and pulling the rod I perform this probably 6 times and when the rod is compressed it still will not rebound on its own, I have to put it in my vice and hang on it. Funny thing is all 4 wont rebound. I contacted KYB and they had no answers. I contacted the supplier I bought them through and they assure me this is totally normal. I hate to put them on the car and they potentially be defective. Has anyone seen this before?

Whats the best way to plug the back of the manifold? some type of rubber freeze plug?
-
Got it off! Just pryed it around the edges, had about molded clips around the edges that held it on!
-
haha I was hoping to move the map and just plug that hole so I can still use the other port for the brake booster. I guess Ill keep playing with it till it eventually breaks!
-
The intake is off but when i try to pull on it twist it off it wont budge and i'm thinking i may break it!
-
Yea the damn thing is hitting by a damn hair! I even massaged the firewall with a hammer! I need to move it and plug tha hole.
-
I can see a gasket so i'm thinking it does...
-
The big ass plug that the map sensor retainer is on!
-
Might be a dumb question but how to do remove the large round vacuum plug on the back of the intake that the the map sensor goes into. Does it twist or just pull off?? I dont want to break the damn thing!

I changed the motor mounts in my car and therefore raised the engine approx 1.5". What would the ideal pinion angle be? 0*, -2*??? Car is a 1993 RX-7 with a ls1 / 4l60e. Also I measure when suspension is under full load correct? Thanks!

You guys had 16 months to fix the issues with the vehicle and you wanted me to leave it for a few more months? There shouldn't even have been issues if you took pride in the "average" persons vehicle! I'm no mechanic but the wiring mess under my carpet was atrocious! I should't have had to ask you to fix that mess! No excuse! You must be crazy to think I was going to leave my vehicle at your place any longer then it was! You offered me $300.00 dollars to fix something that would most likely cost me over $1,000.00. An honest business owner would call the customer and explain to them the vehicle got scratched, or the hood got dented, or your leather seats got stained, not leave it up to the customer to point out! Thats no way to run a business! Many of the issues I was unaware of untill I tore into the car! You guys get work in and out everyday, you know what quality work is and I feel the work that was done on my vehicle is well below that of quality work. Do I feel bad posting factual pictures of the quality of work you push out of your shop?? NO. Tank was the only one that stepped into the thread and explained the issues. Many issues went unexplained. The bottom line is you guys jerked me around for OVER a year and the car still isn't complete. Then you try to make me out to be the bad guy! The amount of money I paid you could have gotten the car FINISHED RIGHT at several other shops. I am trying to put this issue behind me but it's so frustrating everytime I tear into the car I catch more of your mistakes that costs me money not you! I have no respect for the way you run a business and treat your customers. You guys got the best of me and that is something I have to live with. Tell jeff I appreciated his PM that if I am taking the pictures as a way of having one of you guys call me and appologize that I best buy more batteries! Thanks! Like i've mentioned before a shops reputation means a lot to potential customers and I hope this thread has opened peoples eyes. I would love to continue this never ending argument but I have a basketcase in my garage to attend to. Best of luck to you IPS and your future endeavors. Mods lock this up!
