Umm no. I have torn out plenty of slabs after only a year. Commercial slabs are sampled and tested. These are the slabs that are usually covered under a normal warranty. Asphalt can be layed at 3'' thickness. I have seen 4'' thick slabs but I wouldnt recommend anything less than 5''. There are alot of factors which goes into properly laying concrete. More than the average guy will ever do/consider.

I will still thicken the concrete below. For drop in anchors to be set properly, they should be set 1/8-1/4 below slab. The anchors we use in 5/8 size are roughly 3'' long. The average garage slab is 4-5'' thick. Concrete poured years ago weakens over time. Its very difficult to tell how strong older concrete is and you see alot of slabs have cracks throughout. I like the system but I wouldnt trust my slab.

I am hoping everything goes well with my injury. Like Tim I was lured away from my job and only recently returned to, well being stuck in bed. However I am assured I will have a good job when I am healed for the same company. I was scheduled to make more money this year than ever. Now I will probably make less than ever. I have always tried to be prepared with no credit cards and paying cash for all my vehicles. We havent really slowed down either. We still eat out everynight, have multiple vacations scheduled, and my wife is constantly buying stuff. We are in a bad situation if I dont heal when the doctors say I will. I am fortunate to still have a good sum in savings, but I will probably have to dive into it soon.

Keep them open. When my foot heals I will be beating the ever loving shit out of my brother. If he doesnt make it, well, you get the idea.

If I get a big don sub, I will consider it a most excellent weekend.

If their actually going to go through with this, I would rather they take the private company out of it, put up the money themselves, recoup it, and use the money as needed.

It really doesnt seem like any job is all that secure at this time. I was going to go into the police acadamy a few years ago because I thought for sure that profession was secure, but it seems like they arent either at this point.

Its scary out there now. Alot of you guys are young and dont have kids or other responsibilities yet. Consider yourself lucky.

Its times like this I am glad I have been so frugile(sp) with my money. I have put off buying big ticket items that I would have years ago. The toys I do have where payed for in cash and bought with the expectation of making a nice profit on when its time to sell.

What are the unemployment terms nowadays? I have never been there knock on wood, but what compensation do you get and how long does it last?

Anyone suffering from these tough economic times? Are you watching your spending? I know some of you have been layed off but anyone running out of unemployement? I am kinda worried myself being off on disability. If I was actually working I would be insuring my position within my company but with things going bad, I wonder what it will be like when I am able to return. My wife hasnt worked in 10 years but I am afraid she will have to go back and try to find anything to make ends meet. I have already had to dip into a chunk of my savings to make ends meet while I have been off. I wont lie, I am worried.
