  1. The consensus on ArcheryTalk is that it's a red stag. I'm definitely no red stag expert. A trail cam pic of said (now dead) critter: http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww53/dboyd447/CDY_0008.jpg Red stag for comparison: http://murrayoutdooradventures.com/RedStag.jpg
  2. Definitely looks like a hybrid of some sort. It definitely DOES NOT look like a whitetail, that's for sure. I does appear to have a touch of muley in it, and the overall size is a bit small for an elk. It also appears to be lacking the dark brown fur on the neck that elk typically have. I'm no elk expert, though.
  3. Do you suppose the game warden would let me go if he caught me coming out of the woods at 1am dragging a deer behind me, with a spotlight in one hand and a rifle in the other? "I thought it was a coyote..."
  4. Point is, if the guy was an experienced hunter as he says he is; he KNEW it was an elk. He shouldn't have shot it.
  5. After this past week, I've come to the conclusion that I'm just going to stick to archery season. It's so much more enjoyable, and you don't have to deal with all the part-timers that only come out for a week. I swear to Christ. Damn near every shot I heard during gun week was quickly followed by 2 more (and sometimes even more...). BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
  6. .45 GAP - The answer to a question that nobody asked.
  7. Anyone else see him in the sombrero and mexican rug after his touchdown yesterday? I about fell on the floor laughing. BTW, I love his personality and antics. I heard the announcers bitching about him yesterday, saying how he was a downer on the team. I think the NFL is just pissy about the whole 'ochocinco' thing. I find it absolutely hilarious everytime I think about it. What a kick in the teeth to the NFL.
  8. He might be a kid, but he was also a dumbass.
  9. There's absolutely no law that states you have to show them your receipt as you leave. I ignore them, and walk out. IIRC, if they try to detain you until you show them your receipt, I believe it's false imprisonment or something like that.
  10. They're big with the British military. GREAT scope for the money. I think mine was ~$450. To be honest though, I don't really like the gun all that much. It shoots great, but it's F'n heavy. It's fine for sitting on a bench or fucking around with, but I'd hate to carry it for more than 5 min. It serves it's purpose though. I didn't build it to be a field weapon. My next .308 build will be MUCH lighter.
  11. I was making fun of that fact that anything made by USO is a god damned fortune, not to mention. most Leupold's aren't anywhere near the price of a USO. Besides, they aren't even on the same playing field. I'd love to have a few, but surely can't afford one.
  12. Funny you say that. That's what it got nick-named by a friend of mine.
  13. Savage 10FCP (.308) in a H.S. Precision stock Falcon Merlin 4-14x56 scope.
  14. Smart man. Oh, and as I said in the other thread; you get what you pay for when it comes to holsters. That's not to say you can't get a good one for a bit cheaper. The problem(s) with the upper end holsters is that, 1. They're expensive, 2. You can't really try them on unless you can find someone who's got one, 3. There's usually a huge wait list (and for good reason). That said, the Comp-Tac MTAC gets great reviews, isn't that expensive, and you can have it to your door in a few days.
  15. I'm a huge fan of, 'Buy once. Cry once.'
  16. You need a condo in the woods, like Jason and I.
  17. No Milt Sparks. No care.
