  1. Note to self; Jeeps aren't really designed for autocross.
  2. Rumor has it that Consumer Reports did a test similar to this and the Jeep did not do very well, though not as bad as this Swedish company makes it out to be. Apparently Jeep revamped the electronic suspension controls and it is much better. Rumor also has it that no other company has been able to replicate the Swedish folks results. who knows... I still plan on buying one in the next couple of years. I don't care if the Jeep failed the "moose test." I haven't seen too many meese here in Ohio lately. :gabe:
  3. I'm thinking they were actually running a Garret when they thought they had a Garrett. Damn Ebay.
  4. I've been to Texas and was never impressed. I've never figured out why everyone sackrides it so much.
  5. Scaring? That sounds like an emotional response to me. Again, I'm NOT saying it wasn't very suspicious. I'm NOT saying he wouldn't have went on to kill 12 more people. Personally, given the recent series of events, I would not have done the same as he did, because I do believe it was quite stupid. No denying that. Agreed. Charge him per Ohio law (though I, along with the entire states of Alaska, Arizona, and Vermont, think it's a dumb and unconstitutional law) I've looked and still cannot find the ORC that says you can't carry multiple knives on you. Please cite this for me. I'm not saying they weren't posted. I'm not saying he didn't see them. He did offer to leave them in his vehicle, which negates the fact that he ignored them in the first place. Intent to do something is not actually doing something. Again, we're leaning towards things he might have done instead of what he did do. You might be right here, though it sounds like he was cooperating, at least from the way the article reads. This is the only thing I can find on inducing panic, and even it's quite vague. Please point me to this clear definition. "(3) Committing any offense, with reckless disregard of the likelihood that its commission will cause serious public inconvenience or alarm." Again, let me repeat myself. I'm not saying the guy wasn't dumb for what he did. But besides the permit charge, nothing else appears to be illegal, just suspicious. Arrest the guy for having a CCW w/o a permit. Ask him to leave. Watch him closely. But treating him (and charging him) like he was going to massacre people is a bit too far, IMO. That's my main issue with the story.
  6. Fair enough. I'm not saying he wasn't dumb for it. If he was that worried about protecting himself, then he should have stayed home, IMO. I'm simply saying that just because he was doing something that you see as dumb, does not make him a criminal. If you want to charge him with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, per Ohio law, that's fine (though I would argue that it's not necessary). But the other stuff is BS unless he actually does something.
  7. The fact that the Colorado incident happened is irrelevant. If he went to see Ted, would it have been OK then? I'm defending 'innocent until proven guilty'. People keep mentioning this guy's suspicious behavior. I'm not saying it wasn't suspicious, but except for the no-permit part, none of it was illegal.
  8. Multiple weapons violation? Again, please point me to the Ohio law that prohibits the carry of multiple weapons (I am honestly unsure, but will look into it). The gun is the only issue here (that I am aware of) being that he did not have a valid (Ohio) permit. I saw no where in the article that panic ensued. It sounds to me like the guy cooperated quite nicely w/o incident. You reference ORC. Please clarify.
  9. You keep mentioning that he had multiple knives on him. How many is too many? Is it illegal to carry multiple knives in Ohio? Why does he 'deserve' to get nailed for illegally carrying a weapon? If this was in, say, Alaska, Arizona, or Vermont (all constitutional carry states), would you be saying the same thing? I still fail to see how carrying a weapon into a movie theater makes you a 'dumb mother fucker'. I'm just playing the devil's advocate here, but perhaps he was worried some other crack would try to copy the Colorado incident? Common sense would tell you to stay at home if you're that worried, but common sense isn't so common these days.
  10. OK, so charge him with carrying without a permit. He offered to leave after being questioned, so charging him with criminal trespassing is (or should be) out. You can drop the inducing panic and potential massacre BS, though.
  11. Appearing crazy is not against the law... Carrying 4 knives is not against the law... Carrying multiple 'clips' is not against the law... Going to the movies 30 minutes early is not against the law... You guys are seemingly wanting to hang him for something he MIGHT have done. Am I the only one who sees a problem with that?
  12. Here's to hoping for a blistering cold and snowy winter.
  13. Exactly how many magazine clips did you carry? And were they FULLY loaded?
  14. The article is clearly not focused on the fact that he didn't have a permit, though. I am inclined to believe that it would not have made a bit of difference in this case. If he had one, do you think this article would still have been written? I'm willing to bet it would have.
  15. I go to Rave in Grove City quite frequently and I have yet to see a sign prohibiting the CCW. Gov't buildings, schools, hospitals, etc. are a given, but movie theaters? :dumb: There is no law that I am aware of that states how many weapons you can carry. I automatically throw their credibility out the window when I read things like that. Not denying that, however, the article clearly is not focused on that aspect of it. I have skimmed the article twice now and cannot seem to find where it states that theater was a CCW-free zone? And it's only a criminal trespass if you refuse to leave. It sounds like he offered that and was denied the opportunity. Charged for CCW w/o a permit? I'm torn between my love for constitutional carry and being a law-abiding citizen despite the fact that I feel they are stupid laws. Technically, yes, he should be charged. Morally? Meh... Charged for breaking some imaginary emotion-driven law that states you can't bring a CCW(s) to a showing of 'The Dark Knight Rises' 20 days s/p shooting massacre? Absolutely not. And again, I found no where in the article that it claims the theater prohibited CCW. Unless you folks have some insider info on the region; the article does not state it as such. The problem I have here is that the article not focusing on the laws he did break but is focusing on the fact that 'OMG!!! HE BROUGHT A GUN TO A MOVIE THEATER AND WAS GOING TO SEE THE DARK KNIGHT RISES AND HE SHOWED UP 30 MINUTES EARLY AND HE HAD KNIVES ON HIM AND OTHER SCARY STUFF AND WAS GOING TO KILL ALL OF US WHO WEREN'T EVEN IN THE THEATER YET!!!!1! :dumb: Again, besides carrying w/o a CCW (which I do not find to be much of an offense) and besides the questionable CCW zone, what did the guy do wrong here? Were his actions a bit suspect? maybe. Were they illegal? Technically. But were they really wrong? I'm inclined to say no. I'm also curious as to how many knives are too many? Is there a limit that I am unaware of?
  16. Bestiality counts, so you're still good. :gabe:
  17. Ah. I know a Shelly Morris (or at least it used to be Morris) that works there. I think she might be a vet tech, though.
  18. So beside carrying a weapon concealed without a permit, what exactly did he do wrong here? The answer is: not a damn thing. Are we seriously going to start charging people for things they might do?
  19. Dr. Barnheart at MedVet did my mothers Chihuahua's knees. Like Killjoy, i believe she had patelar luxation. Cost my mom $2,500 to have it done, and she's back in surgery today (2 months later) having her left knee done again because he feels like one of the pins has backed out. It's costing another $800 to have it redone. I'm not sure I recommend it at this time.
