If Columbus ever wants to achieve higher status as a city and upgrade in desirability to businesses, people who want to relocate, and special events (Final Fours, etc.) then some investment in infrastructure will be necessary. Just my humble two cents - which in currency exchange is worth like $736.50.

Facing a giant Megatron? The regular Megatron is already pretty big. This sounds both awesome and frightening all at same time.
-
I didn't have to upgrade and mine has streamed fine, no issues whatsoever. This includes streaming on the Roku while at the same time two kids are streaming vids on their iPads and the wife is on her phone also using bandwidth. So, multiple devices and still no problems.

Putty, so did I. I called them up, told them to cancel my cable and just keep my internet. That was no issue, and it reduced my bill from like $180/month (which was what I was paying for internet + cable) with them to like $25/month (for just the internet). The Roku is this little device that hooks up to your TV. It runs on your Wi-Fi (or you can just plug it into your receiver with an Ethernet cable). The Roku allows you to connect to the internet and stream stuff through different apps, like Netflix and Hulu. It's super easy to hook-up. There are 3 versions of the Roku - Roku 1, 2, and 3. The 3 is the most expensive (I think it was like $150 or something?). IIRC, all the Roku's come with the same main apps, like Netflix, ESPN, Hulu, Amazon, etc. I think the main difference is the streaming quality, which is the best on the Roku 3. You have heard about "smart" TVs? The Smart TVs are just TVs that have something like Roku built into them. In my opinion, they are unnecessary. I'd rather save my money and pass on a "smart" TV and just get a Roku (or a similar streaming device) instead. The Roku is your gateway to getting streaming services on the Internet. Hell, I go to YouTube through my Roku all the time - it's pretty awesome. So, after I ditched cable, I got Netflix (for like $10/month) and Hulu (for like $8/month). Now, my total bill is ~$50/month and I still watch all the same stuff that I watched before I got rid of U-Verse (because essentially I never watched 99% of shit on cable anyway).

Sadly, not one single team controls it's own destiny in this stupid, half-ass "playoff" system that we have. Rather, what we have boils down to a popularity contest. Therefore, no one can, by definition, control their own destiny. Playoffs in all other sports? Yup, they control their own destiny. For instance, whoever wins the NFC East is going to the playoffs. Playoffs in CFB? Popularity contest.

Ohio State straight smoking Alabama in the semifinal would be almost as satisfying as winning a national championship. Seriously.

This is the part where we high five and take hearty swigs from the alcoholic beverages we are consuming. Later, we will be hit on by attractive women and told how charming and alluring we are.

We cut the cable cord a few months ago and it's worked out great. If I ever want to watch a live sporting event that isn't on ABC, NBC or Fox (as you can get all of those in HD with a simple antennae), I just go find a sports bar (which is a great excuse to go to a sports bar, BTW). This may sound weird, but I actually like watching ESPN more now through the Roku than I did when I had cable. ESPN has an app you can access through Roku (and it's free), and they have a bunch of clips on there. I just go there to catch all the highlights of stuff I'm interested in (like CFB), and the nice thing about it is there are no commercials, it's just the clips, and there isn't 4087 hours of idiots like Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless arguing and blabbing and just wasting airwaves. Cable is dying. They'll have to switch to an a la carte model eventually, I bet. The streaming services will be cable's death, as now people can essentially go a la carte for most things they want.

I will believe it when I don't see it. Until then, I will remain (ir)rationally worried.

I really, really want all of this to be true. Believe me, I do. However, I fear (perhaps due to an irrational underlying paranoia involving all things SEC, ESPN, conspiracies, etc.) that my doomsday scenario will be realized and three teams from the SEC get it. For a moment, humor my paranoid delusions and consider the following: - Oregon ends up losing to Oregon State. Wheeee, there they go, tumbling from the top. - if Oregon doesn't stumble in the Civil War, they could still easily lose in the PAC12 title game. Welp, there's two losses for them, and one came late, so, well, bye Oregon - either of these scenarios opens up a spot in top 4 - Ohio State loses one it's next three games. They could easily lose to Wisky in B10 title game. Any loss, bye bye Ohio State - they won't even sniff the top 4. Therefore, another spot gets opened up. -Florida State could easily lose any of its remaining games. I say easily because Florida State looks very pedestrian (and certainly not like the invulnerable team that rolled through all competition last year). You know that if Florida State loses the committee will definitely toss them from the top 4. In fact, with a loss Florida State might be banned from all rankings for like a year. - then you have the perfect little SEC stew going on. Oh, what's this - two SEC teams already in top 4, and they've essentially been camped out there all year? Yup, there you have mighty Alabama and might Miss State. Boy, they look good. Oh, wait, what's this - a mighty fine Ole Miss siting here in the top 10 and, wheeeee, them ole dirty Georgia dawgs right there in the top 10 too! Miss State beats Ole Miss - HOLY FUCK MISS STATE IS SOOO GOOD! Ole Miss beats Miss State - HOLY FUCK OLE MISS IS SOOO GOOD! Georgia beats Alabama in title game - HOLY FUCK GEORGIA IS SOOOO GOOD AND ALABAMA, WELL, WE KNEW THEY WERE GOOD SO THEY ARE STILL SOOOO GOOD. This is the part where I start to cut myself.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. And no. If you want Ohio State to have a better shot of making the playoff, and you don't want to see 3 SEC teams in the playoff, then you should pull for Georgia to get smoked by Georgia Tech and not make the title game or, if they do, to get absolutely manhandled by whoever they play. If they win the SEC, Georgia will get in, the other team from the SEC West who didn't get into the CG game (Miss State, probably) will get in (because they'd be undefeated and ranked top 4 all year long), and the loser of the CG game (Alabama, probably) might STILL get in because of how highly they've been ranked lately, how the committee will consider them to only have two "quality losses," etc. Georgia needs to die a fiery death, ASAP.
-
Josh - what was pollack, etc saying?
-
I'm fine with these rankings. Though look at Ole Miss and Georgia lurking - just waiting to either strengthen a Miss State or Alabama win, or take their place in the event of an upset. Chances of Tilley's Nightmare Scenario of 3 SEC teams in top 4: 25 percent.

Mariotta still has time to implode. This is right around the time that Oregon finds some way of fucking themselves over. Selfishly I'd like that - both for Ohio State's playoff chances and Barrett's Heisman chances. I agree with jive and DJ on expected top 4 teams tonight. I'm not worried about Ohio State's placement after tonight. I'm confident if they win out they will be in playoff. I will be concerned if we have to play Wisky in CG game. Don't like how well they are running and how good of defense they are playing. Could be a repeat of last year's CG game...

People can be fans of whatever team they want for whatever reason. It's not like there is a set of rules for determining which teams you can like.

Link worked that time Josh. Seeing Jalin doing that makes me like him even more. And I wouldn't not be excited about Mike Shanahan as a college football coach in the slightest. He's old, curmudgeonly, and can only manage to get into pissing contests with his QB in the media. I'd pass.

The link you posted wasn't really a link, so there was no video to watch.

LOL, that shit is just nuts. So many possibilities...
-
I was a huge critic of the game planning and play calling in general in several previous games. Not in recent ones, however.
-
Well, considering that a lot of B1G teams play other B1G teams, I think it will be difficult for all of them to only lose once...
