You are just jealous that I will have a 24 year old, rusted jetta that doesn't run.......... Wait a second

Yeah, car looks great man!!!! I favor the Jetta's in mk3 form, but yours looked fantastic! Yeah, I can take some pictures of them on saturday when I go pick it up if you want. Nice! The car is straight, just some rust. Can't wait! ??? Picking up the trailer tomorrow evening, and heading down early saturday.

Yeah, two deisels, 1100 I believe for the pair. I passed on them. Way too much rust for me. I don't know much about the MK2's, but I have been combing vortex since this past sunday to catch up!!!! The coupe has minor rust, and only 2 places where its more severe than surface rust. Picking it up saturday, and will have good pics of all angles/problems.

Whats up man, I keep eying your build when I drive by. Some day when you are out there I need to stop by and check it out. Just got the travel arrangements squared away to pick it up this weekend. Can't wait!!

Not sure, either my parents or my grandmas until my house is ready at the end of May. I like both looks actually, and am prone to keep things stock on the exterior. I think I will just restore it as is, and make everything 1986 correct (minus running gear). No shaved bay, I want a minty driver, not a show car. Thanks Beautiful car! I am really pumped. Can't wait to get it back here.

Good to hear!!! No on the reliability, and yes on power, unless you do VR-T. The VR6's are either 172(12v) or 200(24v). A 1.8T from a GTI is 180, and over 200 chipped. I am not sold on the VR6, I have just been lusting after that sound for a long time. I googled engine weights, and it seems the VR6 is about 400 complete, and 1.8T is low 3s. A lot of people say that a big heavy engine in the front of these cars "ruins" them as an all around car. Haven't decided what I want to do with the car yet, so I am still open to everything. Might do a nice high compression, NA 16 valve or something. If I could find a 2.0T TSI from the 2008.5+ cars for less than 3k, I would LOVE to do that. My car moves pretty good for stock, and it weighs 3100lbs. I couldn't imagine even a stock 2.0T in a 2300lb car, let alone chipped. Who knows. I do know that my first steps will be to get the car running. It needs a good once over and probably a bucket full of parts, but it should be fun to get my hands dirty and get it running. After I get an idea of what the car is like 24 years old stock, I will have a better idea of where I want to take it. This is all pending funds, time and how F'd the car turns out to be.

Thanks guys. The Blue one with the John Deere sticker is actually in mint condition. He wasn't selling it though, I asked. Looking forward to getting it here.

Bought my first project car today! Its a 1986 VW Jetta Coupe Wolfsburg Edition. It is a gas/manual car and is in pretty good shape. Only rust that isn't surface is on the passenger side door jamb, on the lower panel, and the front tip of the passenger door. Shouldn't be too hard to fix the existing rust. I went to look at a pair of VW Caddy's (think MK1 El Camino) but were rusted to death. This was sitting out front! I love these cars, and am very excited. Long term goal is to get it straight, painted, and swap in a VR6. Obviously need suspension and brakes to hold the extra power. They weigh 2300lbs, and with a stock 12V VR6, will have 172hp. Should be a fun drive!!!! Car is straight, and I am looking forward to getting it back to Westerville. I go to pick it up this Saturday. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r247/A4SHO/0411001328.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r247/A4SHO/0411001328a.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r247/A4SHO/0411001327.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r247/A4SHO/0411001328b.jpg I will be keeping this thread as my project thread, and updating it when I do stuff. I know this isn't most people's cup of tea, but I am very excited. I need to pay him the remaining balance for the car, so I would have to go as well. I could drive seperately if you are already going to be there. haha, thanks for that paul. All he had in there was "how much compensation? I am usually in Zanesville on saturdays." -

Nurk, what are you providing? The truck? Truck and Trailer? Trailer? Would depend obviously on that. -

80 miles, sorry for the gross overstatement!!! -
I just bought an 86 VW Jetta Coupe today. It is in Zanesville, and I need to pick it up on April 17th. Trying to figure out if I want to just rent a uhaul dolly and tow it with our trailblazer, or if I want to have all 4 wheels off of the road. It has been sitting for a while with flat tires, and don't know if they will like rolling for 100 miles back here. If anyone has a truck and or trailer that I could borrow, or ride along in to pick this up, I will provide compensation. Should take about 4 hours total. Let me know what you have, and what you will charge. Not looking to spend a bunch of money though. Thanks guys.

5 cylinder turbo cars with sunroofs and spoilers worth buying
Aaron replied to Aaron's topic in Passing Lane
To learn about cars, browse the forums of the models/cars you like. You will learn about it from OWNERS, who drive their cars daily. From doing this, you will LEARN exponentially more than what the handfull of owners here have experienced. You will have hundreds of owners of the exact model you are looking at, have access to DIY's, build threads, pictures, common problems, common mods, performance stats etc. Asking thousands of questions ranging all over the place is annoying, and yes, GHEY. Do your homework before you ask any questions. That way when you join those forums, you don't look like a douche bag just wanting his questions answered. Its a given that whatever question you have, has already been asked dozens of times, and answered. SEARCH. Other than that, I have no issue with you, other then the fact that you get your panties in a bunch over the internetz. Get a thicker skin or you wont last long on car forums. -
