The point of this post was to show how the school systems have dumbed down the standards in our public schools. I went to the "Fine" Columbus Public Schools at NO TIME were we required to have that type of understanding of the functioning of our government. Even in my 12 th grade Government class, we did not have this sort on knowledge being required. I think that the schools have changed the focus of education. From the three "R's", to focusing on the proficiency test. At least we are producing great people for the "Jay walking" segment on the Leno show.

My office could be a post races meet spot. We did it last year and had some good laughs!

That was my point of the post.

Are yours in bad shape? If not just fix them the parts are usually cheap, and not hard to fix.

Got shot down by the city.. The city council here is nothing more than small town politics. when Lowes came to town they had a fit about that. But at the same time they are the same people that complain about having jobs up here. I wish I lived in the city of Mt. Vernon, I would run for city council.

A couple of times last year when we had the meets at my office we started out at the track and then went to my office. All had a good time !

I always buy used! My suburban was about 45k new I bought 2 years old for less than half.

<---hijacking thread I was in Honolulu last year and went to the AlaMoana Mall. They have LV store in the mall. I watched the Japanese tourist buy the stuff in that store like they were shopping at Old Navy. A little wallet was about $200, they were buying set upon set of the Luggage, purses, belts, and everything else. <----hijack done....

It makes me think twice!! Right now I only have one lady that works for me, she does not have kids, but if she did then if her kids got sick she would stay home. If I have some one that wants a job, and they have kids I iron out the details about what happens with a sick child before hiring them. I REALLY sucks to be the only one running the office on a busy day.

I have had a couple of time where 3 employees were out because of their kids being sick. The problem was I only had three employees. Makes it hard to see 40-50 people in the office that day by yourself while trying to answer the phone too.

I have been called a bigot twice on this forum... why not make it a third time. When she answers the question don't go on and mention if she has children of her on or not. Like it or not, women with children can be unreliable workers ( I can feel the heat so flame on). If the kids get sick Mom is usually the one that stays home with them. My recommendation is to talk about hobbies or other outside interest. She should look around the room and notice anything about the interviewer that could be common ground. Try to build conversation and break down the uneasy wall that exist on both sides. Just remember the interviewers know most of what is said is :bs: I love when people talk me out of hiring them...
