  3. A very anecdotal story but I was talking to a guy Friday night who's friend was car shopping. Found his car, used small SUV for $29k, while sitting in the sales office he's searching on his phone and finds the same exact SUV brand new and better appointed for $27k.... when he showed the sales guy he just shrugged and said "guess you better go buy it then"..... lol wtf?!

I’m buying vehicles 2-3 years old for above sticker still in some cases

Most new vehicles are already spoken for long before they make it to the lot .

Until supply goes up we won’t see this getting any better.

Also now the rental car companies are hurting bad to stock vehicles again so anything “cheap” with low miles is not even close to cheap.

Try watching a Jetta S from 2018 do over 22k to hertz lol

  4. If there was something worth mining I'd love to put some of my servers to the task. Their old so not a ton of hashes like 800-900 but I don't know much about it except that won't do much for Bitcoins.

My thoughts exactly , these boxes looks affordable and you essentially just plug them in and go. I’m researching a bit more but was curious if anyone else had already done it.

  5. Seems like a blanket statement. As I said above, I believe only the first few years of Leaf's had the battery degredatoin issues and gave it a bad wrap. But if you know of other issues, I'm all ears.

The Bolt's are under a second recall for the batteries. It does seems to be a huge mess. Seemingly it's only an issue with a specific battery from a specific plant they used from 2017-2019. Once they actually figure out the issue and fix it may be fine, but only time will tell. It's not confidence inspiring that they had a fix that didn't actually fix it and had to do a second recall just a few months later. In the mean time it will be hard to impossible to buy one anyway, as Chevy can't/won't sell them. 2020's and up should be fine, they use a different battery from a different plant.

The newer leafs have not been out long enough to convince me their range is enough fir normal daily use long term. The batteries tend to overheat quickly and kill the estimated range they claim. Also they looks like hell.

If a battery spontaneously bursting into flames is not enough reason to avoid a BOLT until they actually solve the recall issue then idk what to tell you more about not buying one

  6. I wouldn’t out new engine money into a 2010 scion and the “new engine “ will probably develop oil issues as well just like the current one .

You are in the right track with trading it in in a hybrid ( Hyundai) has great new warranty or maybe a Camry hybrid .

If he is not trading in on new I would sell privately for the most money but if he doesn’t want to deal with that and just sell/ trade in in a used I would look at a volt or ct200h

He doesn’t need to spend Tesla money , also stay far away from a BOLT & LEAF

  7. (2) 265/35r18

  8. Thanks Joe!

If the price is right (payoff VS traditional), seems like a no brainer if you can finance it through the house cost. What about adding solar too?

Maybe both also depend on realistically how long you plan to stay in the house and how much value they add. e.g. payoff is 20 years, but they add $xxk value to the house and you'll sell at 15 years so you'll 'make' money even thought you didn't hit the payoff date.

Unless you get some cheap company and all the tax breaks solar in 80% of Ohio is not worth it

Unless in the last couple of years since I last looked over the 20ish years you end up saving less than half the cost of the install and panels
