  1. Share with us your view on how he made his money. What he did with Bain was his job. Equity companies don't always take over a company and save everyone. Part of the reason they get involved is because doing so isn't possible and the current executives run out of money trying. He's been very up front about it. He's also very open and others need to reaslize that not every venture capital try works. Such is life and why venture capitalism is risky. I think those that believe he can't take what he's learned and applied in business to help recoup things are the ones who are less informed. Is he perfect, no, but he knows how to make money, start a business, manage a budget and right a sinking ship way more so than Obama. Like it or not, its down to two and my money isn't on Obama his spending or his support of freebees for the masses. Sure some people in his deals lost their jobs but he had a job to do and did it successfully. I'll add that those same people would have lost their job either way because their companies were done for and all but Bain gave up on them. His job at that point wasn't to save their incomes or livelihoods. His job was to try and save the company so that he could hopefully save the company and yes, eventually profit from it. Again, didn't work out that way in all cases. Never has and never will. However, he didn't cause the situation they were in. That drama occurred well before Bain became involved. In the end profiting from his company and their dealings is not a bad thing and yes, I would like to see him apply the badly needed business skills to getting our country back in shape. The last thing we need is Obamacare and most certainly don't need Clinton and other dems and their lack of planning with NAFTA killing us further. According to the sources, a significant chunk of Romney's portfolio is tied up in Bain investments, and he continues to receive millions from his retirement package. Good for him, he took the risk, reaped the rewards and without his thinking many of those situations would have either never worked out and or ended very badly for all.
  2. Wife and I went out with some friends last night and given a 3am breakfast at Waffle House on Polaris, C&C was not an option for me this morning. I'm too old for that. Of the 12 of us that started out at 8pm, 6 hung in there for the duration

Romney is set to be in town. They left for the airport right after the convention. They said they were in such a rush that two of their vans hit each other.
  8. CR No stop for pedestrians or bicyclists :gabe:
  9. Very likely shock. I mean looking at the damage, it wasn't a small impact so the dude felt it. Also, he just had an accident with a guy on a bike not another car....to me that is a bit more of an oh-shit moment. You're not expecting an attack either. Instinct of a normal citizen isn't to leave the scene of an accident either. Sounds odd maybe, but again, the guy was likely in shock and still processing all that just happened.
  10. Photoshop CS5 hacks are readily available. Might be a bit much if you've never used it before though. Gimp is free.
  11. Have you gone through the CCW Course? You don't have to be in fear of simply lethal force being used against you. The law reads, the defendant must prove that, at the time, he had a real belief that he was in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm and that his use of deadly force was the only way to escape that danger. The witness on TV was very clear that it wasn't just a simple set of punches, she clearly stated that the attacker ran around the to the drivers window and "just started pounding on him" Not sure about you but after the trama and shock of being involved in an accident where you've been struck by a bicyclist at a high rate of speed and then he gets up and attacks you in such a manner, I think it's clear you're in danager and if I'm being pounded on, that's serious. Especially as I'm belted into my vehicle. 'nuff said IMO.
  12. hmmmm.....will wait for others to chime in but looking at page 27 of the Ohio Concealed-Carry-Laws-Booklet it shows it does apply to your vehicle. ORC 2901.05, 2901.9(B)
  13. $5 says the bicyclist was the typical Lance Armstrong type. Look at the bike and draw your own conclusions.
  14. I'll just add this that in today's world, especially with the prevelence of CCW's in many states, the days of simply being a billy bad ass come with much higher risks than ever before. If you have the balls to instigate a fight or in this case, a down right attack on someone, the chances of a gun being produced are very high so unless you're dumb or willing to die for the argument you're creating, you best stay put and let it go. This is exactly what the the guy in the Russian video could have done. In that case the guy who came at him with the pipe owns his life to the mercy bestowed upon him that day. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106305 In both cases, I would have likely truly been freaked out and shot them too. Thankfully I've never pulled a gun on anyone while in my car but I've never been attacked like that either.
  15. Sounds like a justified shooting to me. Hell, you have a witness that said in her own words the biker was "pounding on the guy" and that upwards of seven blows were thrown. That's not something I would sit around and take either. IMO he did the right thing by NOT getting out of his truck and fighting. If he's smart all he should have said is "get my lawyer" and if anything else, that he was in fear for his life and just wanted the attacker to stop. Perhaps as stories like this get out dumb asses will "think" about what they are about to do before they do it. I would imagine the look on his face was a lot like Tra. Martin.
  16. ^^ Agree 200%. Ask me how I know. Andy can comment on the work as he's seen it. Pearl paint too. I still owe Dan a beer for the referral.
  17. healthcare and SS need address as does our entire slew of gov't assistance programs. however Obama's plan doesn't fix any of it and instead continues to drive the handout crew. we can agree to disagree on that for now as in the end, I'm not at all for gov't as stance programs that don't require some work on part of the person benefiting from it. right now we need to focus on the portion of society that actually contributes to the GDP and pays taxes not those that freeload and do nothing but cast a vote in ignorance for a president that is misguided. your concern is valid and it's exactly what Obama's doing now. Instead of addressing the real issues, he's pulling at the social strings of those who put him in office to begin with and for the past 4 years we've dug a debt bigger than ever before and done nothing to help the employment situation. so no need to fear the elephant, he's already in the room disguised as an ass. the area here were we differ is even if Mitt chooses to tug at similar strings, I do believe he is able and will address the real issues Obama isn't and never will. He's going to as you noted earlier, skate by on this snails pace economic movement and continue to say his plan is working when in fact it's not.
  18. That's a broad question that can vary depending on the industry but IMO it's a combination of the two. Bottom line is we need to ditch NAFTA, put regulations in place as Perot talked about and drive businesses back home and make the agreements we have in place with other nations that will in turn benefit us. Prices may go up but so will quality of said products and so will jobs and so will incomes, thus the pain of paying more wont' likely be felt. IMO, that's regulation and taxes combined. Bring the jobs back, put income in peoples pockets and they will not only be happy, they will spend, gov't will collect taxes and prices will adjust accordingly and benefit those of us inside the border. Pretty simple. Like I said before, Obama can't see that nor will he do anything about it and is off on the wrong tangent which is to fuck up the one big thing we have left in our economy and that's healthcare. His eye is on the wrong ball and he doesn't the skills to fix what needs fixed right now. We can debate tax breaks on the rich and middle class (yes there's a portion in the breaks that are on the table that impact the middle class too) all day long. If you take from those that have money, they will eventually take it back form those under them. That's not going to help our situation.Leave the policies in place for now and go fix the employment situation that's the bigger problem right now. Fuck the relatively petty issues out there now and deal with the big ones. I really don't give a shit where a candidate stands on abortion or gay rights currently. Neither one of those is going to fix the economy and without jobs the rest of the issues are just noise.
  19. ^^ this. Don't take a company cell for that reason or if you do keep your own and insure your WIFI is Yours . Surf and stream music on 100% your stuff.
  20. Classic. Guy with the gun gave him a break. Should have stayed his car and shot him as soon as he raised the pipe in the air. Should have made the kid piss his pants before letting him go.
  21. It's not a crutch. In a manufactring world, companies aren't going to expand or invest captital into a growth in an uncertain market. That growth and expansion cost is spread out over years and to do so is rolling the dice when you have a situation like we in the US are in. It's far better to be the more profitable company than the largest so in turn the supply and demand part kicks in and prices rise. I know as the market I'm in, that's exactly what's happening. Prices of our medical devices and equipment which are in high demand will go up first and then we'll grow. Otherwise building new facilities and loading them up with people will be too high of a risk.
  22. Then you're reading my posts way wrong. I don't care about race. In fact my family is quite inter-racial and color isn't what I'm talking about. Seems you're the one who associated my use of crackheads with blacks. Now back OT. I agree on the incorporation piece. Many of the companies in our space which is medical manufacturing have bailed the US and moved to China. Wallmart's Lab right next to ours moved to Mexico. Luxottica is moving to China and Hoya and others are already over there. We are the ONLY one left the major players left with 7 manufacturing facilities operating in the US and we are profitable thankfully. Our business model is different than all the others though as we are not a publicly traded company. I'm in healthcare/insurance and our manufacturing is ramped up quite well in the states to fufil demand. We're adding 25% more people in our call centers in both Ohio locations even. However, we do temper ramping up production with simply raising prices. We want demand but we would rather make the same amount of product now, sell it for a higher price, profit more and not add any more capital expansion. It's a wise move as if the market changes we don't want to have to be in a position where capacity is too big and layoffs then occur. taxes are taken in to consideration but no nearly as much as cost of labor and healthcare. if we moved production to Mexico, we could forgo any benefits and pay them 1/10th what we do here in the US. Any break on taxes doesn't really matter but like I posted earlier, as a business if you're costs go up, you will adjust somewhere because the last thing you're going to do is take it in the pocketbook. Someone will pay and it won't be the executive managers or shareholders.
  23. There's no profit to speak of here. We're in debt, spending our way into a demise and are nothing but a consumptive country that if we shut our borders would implode. A business man can see that and just like Ross noted back in the 90's can keep that from happening. Like Mitt or not for what he did in the past, he did was job entailed him to do and he did it well. Our country is in pretty much the same situation as a struggling company about read to be taken over or in dire need for a venture company to come in an clean it up. You're right they don't have the best interests of each individual in mind when doing so. That's not their charter. Their charter is to save the company. The difference is I believe Mitt knows how to do that way more so than Obama and his crackhead team ever could. If they had a clue, they'd be executing a plan that would be showing results. It's been four years and we're further in debt and about to leap frog down with his "plan". Again, don't think for a minute Mitt and the other crooks aren't looking out for themselves and the wealthy. I know that, but he's also looking to right the country and I do believe that as if it was just money he was after, he could stay in the private sector. He's going to apply what he knows to the new role which has a slightly different charter than his role at Bain. In our current system voting for the third party is pissing away a vote. As much as I'd love to see it work, I know it won't. The system needs changed but right now that's not an option and we can't afford to see Obama in office for another four years. American's were fucking dumb ass blind to have put him there. Well, perhaps not as the ones that put him there are the ones he's helping, I just don't happen to fall into the that group of needy handout asking people. /rant.
