  1. less about MPG's and more about making a move to the future and an early adoption of some pretty cool tech. far more rare than my car and especially so among those I associate with that can easily afford one but perhaps aren't yet willing to make the leap to one. Many of my co-workers and customers are too stogy and conservative. They need to live a little. No value to me at all as this will be my daily. Zero interest from me. Again, daily driver and not something I'd want to own in any form. You nailed that part... that's my point though. not interested in a car that simply does a job. you and I will have to disagree on many points here but that's okay as it's my money and my car. he may be a loon but he's a go-getter and a thinker and while you may not like him, he's done pretty well and if you can't appreciate what he's brought the world of cars then I can't help you. We all have opinions. IMO Tesla shows me people who aren't afraid to take risks, who aren't afraid to be different, who enjoy things with a passion, including breaking away from the pack and who yes, perhaps can afford to do so, which is also a good thing The above is certainly an option I'm considering. The CR-Z may be something worth looking at if the price is right and miles not high, although reliability is something I'd have to look at since I've zero knowledge of them outside they are not my kind of car. That said, I'd rather have him and me in a decent Accord vs the CR-Z. I'm pressing my neighbor to sell hers which is a 2008 EX-L Coupe loaded with everything and only 68k on the clock. She pulled back once I came over with my checkbook. She may still cave though.
  2. definitely see your point on the Volt and it's a decent option for someone looking to go green and perhaps integrate some techno-cool into it but overall, it's rather boring and just a more expensive solution that goes from A to B. Not for me. I'd sooner buy a used Accord to save on gas if that was even a care for me. MPG's mean nothing to me and really never have. I'd drive a Hellcat if it was AWD and didn't scream Red-Neck Mullet at me. A big part of the car is the status or rarity of owning a Tesla. Nothing wrong with that even if you don't agree with it. Nearly everyone on CR is an expressive buyer in some fashion or another. Meh....the ones you list are boring and have near zero interest or character factor. Again, you're perhaps not into that but I do like the idea of being a bit different and having something that others don't, regardless of the reason. It is for me more about being an early adopter vs green. Honestly, green is the last reason I'm interested in as my life and the way I live isn't going to make or break the world. What has me interested most is that it's different and a night/day departure from the norm. Less moving parts and an air of simplicity even though I know it's anything but simple. Haven't seen one in person but I think you're being kind to the model 3 but perhaps are referencing the model S in the above. The 3 in that Doug video is on par inside with a base Altima IMO. That very well may be the make or break if I even go that route. In fact it just moved me back away from it a bit. Definitely needs a nicer looking steering wheel. If that's the stock one, I might just puke in my mouth a little. Still haven't ruled out a used dual motor Model S. Right now, I'm looking at options that will involve buying two vehicles but put me all over the board. Drove and priced out a Ford Edge Sport which I'd drive until next year when I finally decide on my car at which point I'd make a move and give the Edge to my wife. I might also simply keep my Audi, buy the Edge or similar for my wife and then buy a used Accord for my son who will be driving in 1-2 years and simply rock it as a daily now and then to keep miles off my car and to take on business rips that I don't want to use mine for. Again, I'm a mess in the head car wise......LOL!
  3. I agree. It's certainly no Audi interior. Even the S Series, while decent is far from what I'm used to. Willing to change though as I've yet to really find something that checks "every" box I'm looking for. That said, my S4 come very very close. I may even pull a wild card and simply keep it. That's kinda where I'm at. I have a couple years left on the Audi payment wise, but I have far more equity than needed to keep the payment on the new car lower than where I'm at now even. Off to go drive a couple other crazy ideas that I'm considering....

  5. reminds me of "My Greek Wedding" where the father can tie everything back to the Greek language; Kerry ties everything back to his view on how everything in life is about race.

  7. ^^ this. If I hated people of color I'd hate my brother for adopting a black son, my sister for marrying a black man and why not throw in yellow as my best brother in law buddy is from Japan.
  8. I don't like him because of what he did. I hope he lives a long hard life before it ends He is worthless turd who turned on the country that welcomed him and killed innocent people. I'm sorry but no he doesn't offer our country the same value as any other American as he clearly isn't nor wasn't a true American. Time to fix stupid and stop welcoming just anyone with a heartbeat and stop taking in people without placing a strong value on what it is they will bring to our country/society. Maybe you want that Kerry but I don't. We don't have to agree on it however, the next time your company needs to higher perhaps you can talk them into issuing a lottery for someone from a foriegn land and absolutely no valuable qualifications. I'm sure the mere diversity of your team will make up for quality work.
  9. You made my point. Nothing he's brought to us is worth a damn. We don't need any more immigrants to come here and drive trucks or work for Uber. I think we can and do cover those needs just fine with American born citizens. I'll be honest....I'm not reading 88 page replies any more nor responding to them. Use bullet points and a single 4x6" sized area on your screen to keep your answers within reason.
  10. Yes. Our 2A is a right. People with zero skills or solid purpose coming into our country for no valuable reason is not their right. This guy and the attack was preventable. Hopefully that BS is stopped. This policy is an example of what policy makes should have been looking at vs say trying to let a guy use the ladies restroom. Same said for the knuckleheads trying to claim sanctuary cities are smart. That said, the Vegas shooting is about as shady and full of scandal as any movie.
  11. no but our stupid policies let him in this country. I never paid much attention to Visa Lotteries but this sure puts light on the policy and hopefully it's fast closure. I'm 100% behind merit based admission.
  12. He fully supports and recommended I keep my eyes open for a used 85D or upwards unit. I'm with you in the cost of a new ones is just a bit too high to re-coupe the value from. Too rich for my blood anyway. I can see maybe $60-80k but the top end is still a lot for what just gets you from point a to point b.
  13. Have not. Again, interested for sure, but want to nail down the car thing for now. Vehicle wise, I can go a number of directions: Tesla Model 3 fully packaged, AWD/Long Range, etc. or even a Use P85D If I buy 2 vs one, I'm looking at the Edge Sport with the 2.7l TT. I might buy this soon and drive it for a few months then give it to the wife and I'll go back to a sedan. Perhaps a Loaded Up Honda Accord 2.0t as the early reviews are strong and it's about the nicest "domestic"/Daily Sled without spending much coin. Gotta wait to drive a 2.0T with the new 10spd auto though, but it's a strong candidate sedan wise.
  14. Call me a snob but I wouldn't own a Bolt. Value is one thing but honestly, I'm not buying the car for economy reasons. The main struggle if I had one is the interior and luxery of even the S Series struggles to keep up with what I have or am looking at buying but I'm willing to uncheck that box for the other offerings it does have. Based on what Scott/Sledhead is sharing and what Tesla is showing I'm 12 months out on a fully loaded AWD Long Range Model 3. I can wait that long. Even if I sell my S4 next week, I'll buy my sons future car and live with it until I get my new car. Agree on the costs of the new ones. I'm even struggling with a P85D cost of say $80k as for that money I will likely go another route - two still very nice cars for the family vs one Model S. Yes but not seriously yet. I'll do it but the ROI is a key factor and we may put the cost of it elsewhere first. On my "list" of interests though for sure.
  15. I've been eying up Tesla since they were announced and while I've not always seen them of value due to the pricing of the S Series and the ranges available, with the move towards the new Model 3, that becomes a game changer for me. I've said it for a while that my current Daily may very well be my last gasoline vehicle and I'm at a cross-roads of selling it for for either a new Model 3 or if I decide against that, I may just pull the trigger with Jordan on a new Daily for me and one for the wife. Has anyone here given a serious look at the Model 3 or put their deposit on one? I'm on the edge.... Here's a pretty detailed look into the vehicle that I've enjoyed. https://www.engadget.com/2017/10/30/tesla-model-3-in-depth-video-review-answers-all-your-questions/ Thanks and shout out to Scott here for answering some questions on them in general too. I've not yet ruled out a used Dual Motor S but the 3 is the size I'm looking for and I am a sucker for being an early adopter of new things.

We just went to see them in Cinci this past weekend. Great show and while I listen to them and like a lot of their songs, this was the first I had seen them and got my fill of who they are from my kids on the way down. More talented that I expected. Have a great time!

Congrats on the new job and change! Things at least seem like they are on upward trend in economy so hopefully it all stays good and allows for continued success. Never knew you personally but wish you the best.
  19. Call Derek aka TurboRust. His shop is just off Alum Creek Drive about 2 miles south of 270. Just make your way around the round-about and you're there. I just had his mobile unit at my house 10 minutes ago to mount and balance a new wheel. Wouldn't have anyone else touch my wheels.
  20. Bump for a great pair of surrounds. Priced more than fair but open to offers.
  21. I do too but I hoped to see better than low 12's at 114mph given it's power. True first world problem I know. Saw some recent vids of one doing high 11's but still only 114mph range.

  24. Polk Audio FX130 Surround Speakers These speakers each have a dual Dynamic Balance® 1-inch dome tweeter design and a 5 1/4-inch Dynamic Balance driver that produces believable real-life effects at prodigious volumes. The selectable bipole/dipole function allows you to configure it to your space 5.1, 6.1 or even 7.1 surround sound set up. I no longer have a need for them based on our new setup and am putting them out there at a more than fair price of $85 for the pair. Sold new as do the newest models for $240. Key Features: The trapezoidal shaped cabinets aim two pairs of drivers and tweeters in opposing directions to produce a more realistically diffuse wavefront and wide, lifelike imaging of surround sound. Keyhole slots make mounting a snap. With the flip of a switch, our dipole/bipole circuitry changes the sound field from direct to indirect radiation patterns enabling you to place the surround speaker beside or behind you depending on your listening room setup. Brand new-like near flawless condition. $85 for the pair Call or text for quickest reply - Tim (614)795.4907 cell Click Image for larger view
  25. that's how I read it too Rick. there's no free-lunches so the delta is going to be paid for by someone and it's likely to be the rest of us. I'm still trying to learn about these issues too and no one makes it easy which pisses me off.
