It is super difficult even with screen shots and a translation guide but it works! Otherwise you have to run the stupid RIM software with Admin access to unlock it. Copying to the memory card you can add to the phone though is another story. It is always unlocked and shows up as a removable drive when wired into a computer.

Honestly almost any new pre-built PC will be able to do the following except watch TV. You can buy a separate TV card for that to happen. It is always better to have a Faster CPU and more RAM but that costs more. At least 2GB of ram, 4GB if you can afford it. Windows 7 or Windows XP is fine for a windows OS.

I guess I need to be more clear. When I owned an ipod I used a 3rd party program called anapod because I did not want to use itunes. Is this possible with the iphone can I use something else other then itunes to copy music/videos/pictures whatever to my phone? I hate the program with a passion and I will never install this again on my PC unless it is in sandbox. But that is stupid I rather hook up a wire to my PC and drag and drop it in a windows explorer window. Just like I do with and USB stick and even my blackberry is the same way.

I rip my audio cds to mp3 format and I've been doing that forever. I shouldn't have to have itunes convert the files and also copy them to my phone. All that should be done is hooking up a USB wire and copy and paste. Just like a thumb drive you know?

I find it funny my old POS blackberry can do everything you are talking about above. Bottom line when it comes time for my annual upgrade I will buy a droid. I still own a working external zip drive with a parallel wire connection and 20 disks. But this is worthless anymore for backing up data. Go get a tape drive for backups. Even if it is not going to be that much data buy a USB thumb drive. I just picked up a 16GB one at microcenter for $35. Throw that in a safe when you are done backing up. I do that with my tax information and quicken information. Oh and I have accidentally ran a microcenter USB stick without the cap on it through the washing machine. I let it dry for a day and it still works with no problems.
