  1. If you only have 800 for everything I would say get the AK.

You can do a decent build in 5.56 depending on the upper and lower you go with. If you want to change to 6.8 spc or 300aac down the road it's a quick upper change. You just won't have any money left for optics or mags.

I was in the same boat as you not to long ago and went with an AR build in 5.56. I would have liked to do a .308 build but it is definitely a lot more pricey.

Good luck finding an M1A for 800 too. If you can find one that cheap though, pick it up.

  2. I've been using Netflix for a while now. It's nice if you find a show you really like and take some time watching through all of the seasons. I've gotten somewhat bored of the movie selection through streaming but I do find something good that I haven't seen before once a week. I like a lot of different types of movies though for different reasons so I can justify it. I just wish it was still 9 a month for DVD and Streaming.

I have a friend that has Hulu Plus and he likes it a lot but I don't have any first hand experience with it.

  3. I've seen a few of these threads but have a few questions I haven't seen answered. I just purchased all of the parts for my AR so I need to get my optics sorted out.

I don't have much experience with different types of optics and have never used anything real nice with this type of platform. Just some cheap 100 dollar scopes and my friends 4-12 Vortex. None of which I want on my rifle.

This is my go to gun. But I'd like to be able to shoot at distance when I go to Briar.

I'm trying buy right the first time.

I've looked on the internet at Aimpoint, Eotech, the option of adding a magnifier to either of those down the road, Trijicon RMR and ACOG in 3x if I ran across a steal of a deal. I've heard I can go to Gander Mountain and they will have some stuff mounted I could look through, something I plan to do before I buy.

I'm leaning toward Eotech right now. If I need the magnification I can add it is my thought process. How do these perform past 200 yards on 1x magnification. From what I've read, if you can see your target you can hit your target. It all depends on your vision as a person.

How useful are the 3x magnifiers and how well do they perform? Other than added weight are there any other negatives to them?

Does anyone have any experience with 1-4 scopes? Why would you choose a flip up over this?

Something else I've seen, but seems very unpractical to me is a red dot that is mounted offset of your primary scope. Does anyone have any experience with this or is it just a tacticool type of look?

Is there anything else/ other brands I should be looking at?

  4. 270 is a good round.

I was looking at .308 rifles in semi but went with a 5.56 and plan on getting a .308 in bolt.

    17 Remington for Coyote.

I would say you could get some coyoyes with a Mosin too. I can shoot decent groups at 100yds with my buddies Mosin and his 100 dollar scope. I've seen him hit a clay (It was just sitting there) at 100 yds on his first shot of the day with the Mosin.

  5. I haven't gotten into the cigars yet but I did get into pipe tobacco last year. I like it a lot and I would think that by filtering through different kinds of pipe tobacco you could get a feel for what kind of cigar you would like.

As far as the lighting source is concerned, you probably won't notice a difference at the start but there are cleaner burning types of butane and what not and it can effect the taste of your smoke.

  6. Got my upper and lower in today. Hopefully the rest of the ordering for this will be finished by Saturday and I'll have it ready next week. Let's just hope all of my parts are still in stock.

  7. There was a female in the concealed class a few weeks ago that had one of these Kahr 9mm.

    Long trigger pull

Failed to slide lock after 50 rounds

Kahr does say you need at least 200 rounds through them before you put them to use.

I only had one issue with a failure to fully extract with mine before 200 rounds and zero after with almost 1000 through it.

  8. I like my Kahr CW9. Easy to conceal and easy to get in good range time with.

I like going to Lancaster. They have a good variety of guns to rent and have lots of variety for purchase. Range time and ammo are cheap too if you get ammo there. They normally have some good deals.

My roommate likes his Kel Tec PF9, but I hate shooting it.
