  1. Pros: great pump, will last forever, proven to support insane HP, awesome customer service, might even come with factory guaranty for 5 years. Cons: Loud, pricey (you have that covered)
  2. Beautiful truck! Amazing find. H2's look nice, are those 265's or 285's? I have a set of H2's that I was going to use for winter wheels but I have never put on because they still have the bald 315 BFG's that came off the H2. If you can get a free cat do it, but the turbo sounds so much better without the cat installed. Especially, through a nice exhaust system like MBRP.
  3. x2 on dieselplace, it's a great Duramax site with a ton of info. If you decide to lean toward high performance goals, Duramaxdiesels is more hot rod duramax oriented. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions about EFI or mods.
  4. Congrats on the purchase! Can't wait to see pics.
  5. 04 was a half year on engine models. 01 to 04.5 is the LB7, valve covers come off to change injectors. 04.5 and 05 have the same engine, LLY (easy injector replacement) but it doesn't really matter because the LLY injectors are great and rarely go bad like the LB7's I get the same mileage with my LLY that everyone I know gets with their LB7's. LLY has a better turbo and the cat can get lost very easily. There is more tuning capability with the LLY in EFI Live as well.
  6. It usually gets around 18.5 -19 mpg with a 50/50 mix. I have gotten a best of 21mpg. I figure it does alright given the power level and weight. I don't know if it is capable of getting much better than 20ish with the tires that are on it. Also the tuning isn't really set up for mileage.
  7. Thanks for the complement. It also might be around that long.
  8. 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4 SLT Extended Cab/Short Bed, 69K miles $23,500 Truck is in ridiculously great shape for being 4 years old and almost 70k miles. The interior is immaculate and the exterior is almost as good with just a few minor nicks that were from the previous owner. It has every available option: Leather, Bose in dash 6 disc, XM, OnStar, Push button 4x4, and the Duramax/Allison combo. Things I've added: Suncoast V, fully built transmission from their facility in Florida. This is a nearly indestructible transmission, capable of handling insane horsepower and torque. Much more than the truck is capable of producing with tuning alone. Ansa Silverline 304 Stainless 4" exhaust and AFE intake. Front end support to combat the terribly weak tie rods and pitman/idle arms that GM put on these trucks. EFI Live tuning, for both the engine and transmission. Class 5 hitch and electronic brake controller. Denali headlights http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t256/creid325/angle3w.jpg?t=1227489818 http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t256/creid325/rear1w.jpg?t=1227489849 http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t256/creid325/DSC01615.jpg?t=1227489982 http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t256/creid325/DSC01599.jpg?t=1227490014 It did have a brief stint as my race vehicle in 07. Had about 30 passes that year with a best of 12.81 @ 105. I had it at the fall track day at Norwalk last year, if it looks familiar to some. To give you an idea of how versatile this vehicle is, I towed my buddies 28 ft. trailer with his mustang inside to that event. Unhooked the trailer, ran 12's on every pass, then hooked the trailer back up and came home and all I did was clamp the rear springs, lower the torsion bars, and air down the tires. 2 years ago the truck made 493 HP and 966 LB/FT on the dyno. I haven't dynoed it since and only time slips mean much to me but that gives you an idea what it has power wise. It will come with the wheels and tires that are on it in the pictures ($500 off agreed selling price if buyer doesn't want them). Also, either the stock wheels and tires (polished wheels that come on all HD's and >50% left on stock tires), or a set of non-chrome H2 wheels without tires. I'm selling because I don't drive it much anymore, and it seems like a waste to have it hold down my driveway. Also, no trades and it's not a carnival ride although it seems like it sometimes. I'm not trying to offend and I know the vast majority of you guys can handle a 12 sec car, but this one weighs 6800 lbs. Test drives will be given to only serious buyers. Thanks
  9. All correct, and I still have the Barracuda.
  10. I know Jordan and Nick very well. "Balls Deep Diesel Performance" Yes, their truck is truly amazing. Always at the front of the pack. I do all the tuning for Eric (Black EC/LB Duramax) and Alex (Green EC/LB Duramax).
  11. You got it. Good luck, it should get better by then.
  12. That amphib looks pretty sweet. I don't own a plane, but I fly one of these 3-4 days a week. http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/middle/4/5/4/1197454.jpg Office http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/middle/1/5/6/0768651.jpg
  13. Jeff's truck has not been out since the Diesel Power shootout, he was having turbo trouble. He took the engine out last week to rebuild it. There was nothing really wrong with it other than he wants to go faster so pistons, rods, heads, and cam are all in the works. I think it has gone 11's with the help of NO2, still 12's on fuel only. Soon low 11's maybe 10's on fuel. I drive it.. it breaks, Did you guys have any luck with the Duramax you were getting ready to pull?
  14. Rutan is right about dieselplace.com. The starter tune thread on that site was written by McRat that runs duramaxdiesels.com, it is a more in depth site for EFILive and is duramax hotrodder specific. Rob is correct about all the software upgrading and firmware stuff. I got lost after that. I'm not so proficient with the gasser side of the program. No Auto VE or O2 sensors to mess with, MAF is really not used much other than to pull fuel so the truck doesn't smoke as much. Fuel and Timing are basically it, raise a few limiters and you're ready to rock. I hope this truck has a built transmission or clutch if it's a manual. The stock Allison can only hold about 120hp over stock before it lets loose. On a stock truck EFI Live is capable of 500+ rwhp.
  15. I've tuned many duramax's with EFILive. Feel free to pm me any questions you may have. It's 10x easier to tune a diesel with EFI than a gasser. Less stuff to worry about, especially the LB7 (01-04).
  16. FAKE! Where's the smoke and 5 inch pipe? That's cleaver sound editing. It's a Cummins that has been dubbed over the vette doing a burnout. It would be nearly impossible to put a 5.9L Cummins in a vette. No, I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to make it fit and still be able to close the hood. If they would have dubbed it over with a Duramax sound at least it would have been a bit more believable. It is a good burnout though.
  17. As a duramax owner, I'd say go with the TDI. I love my truck but it is not economical at all. $3.50ish/gal sucks! Even the fact that it gets better mileage than most trucks doesn't make up for the fact that diesel is super expensive. Although, like was said before. Not too many vehicles will get 15+mpg while tow a 10k lb. hauler, and get you into the 12's. All in the same day.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSWmj1u7vbk Is that McLovin?
  19. I have had 4 HIR 9011's in Denali housings on my Sierra for over a year and they are great. Much better than the Silverstar's I had in a S-10 a few years ago Anyone that's driven a GM truck at night knows the headlights suck. These bulbs coupled with the projector style housing made a huge difference. I've heard that John Deere uses these bulbs in tractors and you can maybe save some money by calling a dealer.
  20. Maybe not a TDI but I know of 2 people, one with a Cummins and one with a Duramax had it happen. I think TDI's are under the radar. Also, they weren't just pulled over for suspected offroad use. They were pulled over for something else (ie smoke or speeding) or turned in by some jacka$$.
  21. BEWARE! I know people who have been subject to $10,000 fines for running offroad. Also, the Highway Patrol has been known to dip tanks from time to time. Also have heard of them even going to the lengths of cutting open fuel filters to see if they are stained pink on suspected vehicles. IRS then gets involved, very bad news. IMO not worth the risk, just get a good additive. Also, there are no appreciable gains to be had by running offroad. Just the savings at the pump and maybe better lubrication for the injector pump/injectors
