So recently I purchased my first AR. Scott told me to enjoy my new addiction and less than 2 months later I'm in the middle of building a 2nd AR15 (planning a 20+" barrel), and making little changes to my current. Anyways I liked the Magpul MOE handguards that came with the Bushmaster I purchased complete, but I had read that the Midwest or Troy industries drop-in handguards locked up way tighter than the MOEs, and also gave the bonus functionality of a quad rail, without having to add the little magpul rail sections. Also after shooting with the Magpul AFG foregrip on my friends rifle, I really liked the way it felt, so I wanted to swap from my standard foregrip to an AFG or AFG2. I ended up purchasing a Midwest Industries MCTAR-17 G2 and an AFG2 online on sale. I also purchased an endplate with a sling attachment point, and picked up a few tools, and mags ofcourse.
Haven't been able to shoot it since the handguard swap, but I can say without question, it locks up super-tight, and feels way more sturdy. It was pretty difficult to get on compared to the MOE handguards, and took a little force, but once it's on, you feel little to no play. I also purchased some ladder covers for the unused rail sections, they were about $15 for all four covers, are comfy enough, and feel like a soft rubbery plastic. Pretty sure I'm done fucking with this one.
