I've never heard much bad about them before but if you are ever looking for a different dealership, I'd suggest taking the drive to Honda East in Toledo, OH. Great guys and their internet pricing will not be beat. Seriously though, you didn't expect some problems with a Triumph? The new ones are great but still have their quirky problems.

If you do business with a local dealer, ask them and they should have some comp passes for the whole weekend they will give out. I haven't paid for a Mid-O ticket in 5 years now. Camping can get pretty wild and sometime not "family friendly", but it's the only way to fly. I'll be there with an RV and probably a keg........or two.

Anything that doesn't make you faster, just adds weight. Neon is only useful for posing. If that's what you are into, go for it.

Your dad should be happy you decided to ride and loose the attitude. Check out a Honda Superhawk if you are that big of a guy. They can be had dirt cheap and will keep you out of the service department. I'm not anti-buell but they are crap for a first (or only) bike.

The Buell will spoil all the fun of owning a bike when it spends the entire summer in the shop waiting for parts. If you are looking for an entry level sportbike that is loads of fun, get a first gen Suzuki SV-650. You can get them for about $2500 sometimes and there is tons of stuff to do to and with them if you are so inclined. Best of all, you can sell it for about that when you are ready for something else so no depreciation loss. FWIW the new 600s will probably run all over that 929 you rode. They lack the midrange but the horsepower is there and they weigh a lot less and turn a lot better. If you are stuck on an "American" bike, buy a Goldwing........more American content than a Hardley.

First point: for those who think you can't make a positive ID on a bike doing 160+, I participate in races at Maxton, NC which are legal top speed races and have seen turbo-busas do a legitimate 250+ mph and you can still identify the bike, color, leathers, helmet, and more.........no, I couldn't get a plate. It's not a blur if you follow it in motion. Second point: a bike will not wreck upon hitting an imperfection in the road at that speed. Instead, they are quite stable and able to be steered by a rider who is not consumed with fear. Final point: challenge the radar. Ask for the calibration records and any visual evidence of the speed. These instruments notoriously have trouble picking up bikes over 100 mph unless the rider is all by themselves on the road.

This means it's capable of running over 186 mph which todays bikes can't unless derestricted. Only the 99 and 00 Busa's and the 00 ZX12 were capable and unrestricted.

Well I've accomplished everything I ever wanted when I bought this bike and I don't ride it much anymore so I'm going to get rid of it. I may consider trades full or partial for a fast car or a liter bike so if you are interested, it never hurts to ask. It has about 16,000 miles on the odo but it's been geared down most of it's life so that's not real accurate. Never wrecked or dropped but safe to say it hasn't been babied either. I had a great time at the spring event so if I don't sell the bike, I'll plan to make it in the fall. Maybe a better 60 and more spray will net low 9s.......

Best way to load the bike is find a hill or a ditch. Back into a shallow ditch and ride the bike in from the other side. Once you are at Norwalk, there will be enough people, we can pick it up out of the bed, but I'll have ramps there too because I trailer. If you have to use a ramp, you are best to remove the tailgate as this will lower the front of the ramp a few inches and reduce your angle the ramp and truck make. Oh, and I don't think it will be a good fit to put a full size grill back there with your bike. BTW: Hawks are extremely wheelie happy while dragracing, so be prepared.

Thanks again for putting this together. I'll be there early to help you and can tech the bikes if you like. A couple of considerations to think about........Are bikes only racing bikes? Most people do for safety reasons. Will bikes be allowed in the slick tired lane? I run a cut slick so it's almost necessary for me. Are you going to make a pre-race announcement for noobs to please drive around the water box with their street tires? Another thing to remind participants of is if they break, get out of the racing groove as quickly as safety permits.
