Forza 3. GT5 is still fun, but Forza is definitely better. Too bad MS is going to just hand the best sim racer title to Polyphony Digital with Forza 4. Oh well.

I just bought a set of summer tires and rims for the Leggy, they'll be here Tuesday. So we'll likely see more snow.

Not as bad as I thought they were going to be. Not rims I would have chosen for the car, though.

around here, probably not. But I'm not so sure about there. They seem to know what they are doing, so it's likely they've done this before. Since the beach wasn't a series of canyons, I would assume that the ocean rebuilds the beach and refills the pond that they drained. I would be skeptical, but then I saw this vid of supposedly the same area: Waves like that could easily build up a beach like the one in the original vid. I wouldn't be surprised if they have waves like this a couple times a year and the pond/sandbar they used to make the standing wave is a result.

Those are always a trip to watch. The amount of dirt they throw into the air is amazing. Also the way they can get moving so fast on a loose surface is mind bending.

Get some shots from further back so we can see the whole car with the rims. So far, not as bad as I thought they were going to be.

I don't have a problem with people who do this to their cars as long as they admit that it's for looks only. The ones who justify it as some sort of performance mod are the ones that I think are idiots. It's like the classic Low-Rider. No performance involved at all. They're just there to cruise slowly and look good. I do question the stretched tires though. Nothing says "Oops! I bought the wrong rims." like seeing a stretched tire clinging for dear life to an exposed lip. I guess I'm just an old fogey when it comes to things like that. I think, if you want wide, deep rims, take the time and make them fit. Don't compensate with narrow tires.

I'm aware what fisheye is. I was just asking what's WITH the fisheye. i.e. why did the camera guy choose the fisheye lense when it would distort every image? It was basically a rhetorical question.

Get new HDD and get computer running again. Install whatever data recovery software you want to use. Get a laptop HDD enclosure with USB converter. Wrap old HDD in the new HDD's static bag and seal with tape. Then, put it in your freezer. Wait 10 - 15 minutes. Load data recovery software. Crack your knuckles. Remove HDD, unwrap, connect to enclosure, plug into laptop as fast as possible. Get recovery software going and pull off all that you can. If you can't recover anything, get your checkbook out or just forget about the data. Data recovery from a dead drive is big $$$. Finally, buy a backup solution of one sort or another.

That was rather uninformative. Oh well.

Bonus: The videos in the torrent are encoded with a codec that the PS3 can read. Just put them on a USB memory device and connect. The device should appear in the Video category. Hit Triangle to browse the device and choose the video. Enjoy WRC on your TV. One downside is that the codec messed up the audio the same as the YouTube vids.

WTF is with the fisheye? Would have been nice to see the bikes as they are supposed to look.

Who won?

There doesn't appear to be. At least not in a timely manner. Maybe they'll buy it from ESPN later, but right now I think Youtube is the fastest source with HD versions probably hitting the torrent sites later.

They are Ford built. There was an article in Racecar Engineering about Chevy's 1.6/2.0 they're using for the BTCC. The FIA has decreed that manufacturers must have a standardized 1.6/2.0L block across all of their racing series. There will just be RPM/induction limitations. The 1.6 displacement will be primarily for turbo applications and the 2.0 for N/A. In a couple years even F1 will be running turbocharged 1.6L 4cyl engines.

Very nice.. I'm thinking I'm finally going to go Stage 2+ with my STI this year. It's long overdue.
