dadada da da da dadadda dadada (Battlefield 3)
Draco-REX replied to Nate1647545505's topic in Pics and Vids
As long as they don't mess with the basic idea of the game, I'll be happy. I just don't want them to change the game to be more like CoD. It has to have huge open maps, multiple classes, and tons of vehicles. It also needs to have joystick support for the Helis and Jets. Unlockable content is optional IMO, but I guess it's necessary these days. Single player isn't necessary for a BF game either. I just wish more people liked 2142. I loved that game and all the different ways to play. But I guess most people didn't want to take the time to learn the intricacies. Here's hoping BF3 is as good as BF2. -
Ford has more "Unintended Accelleration Incidents" than Toyota. They;re #1 in fact, according to the NHTSA. As for GM build quality: Drove an 08 Impala for a week, an 08 Colorado for work, and just recently a 2011 Buick LaCrosse for two weeks. I won't be recommending a GM car any time soon.

4K for a good trans is cheap.

Do something insane and swap in a boosted S2000 motor.

Best fries I've ever had were at Johnny Burcelli's on Bethel. Problem is, they are hit-or-miss. 4 times out of 5, they are just OK. But that one time, they are excellent. Oh, and their potato chips are fried in-house too.

I wonder what the cutoff is.

The bank's name is 5th/3rd, I wouldn't trust a bank that can't do simple math. I mean, there's only 3 3rds in a whole. I don't know why they think there's 5 thirds.

Image a world without drivers licenses

Just some quick perspective for people who think reducing licensing restrictions is a good idea. 2007 CDC stats show that over 12,000 people died that year to guns, and over 42,000 died to motor vehicle accidents. That's nearly a 4:1 ratio. Let that sink in a bit before saying we should make it easier for people to drive. -
My car was clear this morning too. It was really odd. And it's refusing to collect snow even now. I think Fokker's UFOs did something to my car.

I doubt they're all licensed -
Norton products are like putting an Escalade weighed down with 26" spinner rims and 2000lbs of A/V equipment on a racetrack. All they do is "bling" and slow everything else down. I can't count the number of times I've had someone being their computer to me because it was running slow and it's full of Norton shit that's supposed to make the computer run fast. I remove it all and the user is amazed how much faster their PC is. Plus, virus writers BENCHMARK their programs against Norton and McAffee. Don't bother with that crap software.

My point is that every time one of these mailings goes around, ammo and gun prices jump through the roof. When Obama was elected, manufacturers and retailers of guns and ammo started making money hand over fist as people panicked and bought everything they could get their hands on. I'm just urging caution and suggesting people should look into what's really begin discussed and what the result will really be; not just a worst-case scenario. This is like the oil companies warning about trouble in the middle east. I don't trust disaster predictions from those who stand to gain from them.

A 45 minute charge time for a battery pack that can supply a 300mi range to motors that can move a fullsize sedan 0-60 in 5.9? You are NOT doing that with a 110v outlet, and likely not even a 220v hot plug. I think I remember a special EV 440v plug begin developed, and MAYBE that. But you are not going to get a 45 minute charge time with anything normal. As for 3 hours or even 45 minutes, you are not going to wait that long to recharge when you are on a long trip. having to wait 3 hours or 45 minutes every 300 miles when you're driving further than that isn't acceptable. noone would do it. I know I wouldn't buy a pure EV for a daily since I drive from OH to MA and back twice a year. That's 800+ mi one way. I'm not adding another 6 hours to that trip. That's why I say that full EVs will not be feasible for a long time. We need a better infrastructure, and part of that is a rail system that is as extensive as the interstate system.

Ahh, no gun manufacturers or retailers in that group.

Who sent the e-mail? Was it someone who stands to benefit from a sudden flurry of gun buying?

Water cooling is only worth it if you are overclocking. Air cooling is perfectly fine for a stock setup. But, if you enjoy projects and doing cool shit, water cooling is certainly a neat project to work on.

The reason why I thing a large-scale adoption of pure electric vehicles is a long way off is because of range. Unless battery development suddenly hits an exponential scale on advancement, the range just won't be there. Even if you can make an electric car with a 300mi range, it will still take a long time to charge. This would limit the car to a 150mi round-trip range unless you are planning to stay at your destination for a while. Remember, more juice in the tank means more time at the pump. So a large battery like that would probably require about 8 hours on a 220V hot plug. The thing that will take a long time and make pure electric cars feasible would be the conversion of the interstates to rail. You'll need multiple lanes in each direction for high-speed rail and freight rail. The only reliable place to find land for this is the interstate system. That's the 100+ year gap. We need to rethink what daily transportation means.

"Hi, welcome to the US. Here's your 200lb weight penalty." "Hi, welcome to the US. Here's your minimum mileage requirements." I hate how the NHTSA and the EPA are pulling cars in opposite directions. The NHTSA wants every car to be a M1 Abrams and the EPA wants every car to be bicycle.
-
Completely agree. Unfortunately, we don't have the infrastructure to support a lot of Electric vehicles. It goes beyond just putting hot plugs in our homes. In the *foreseeable* future, combustion engines are where we have to be. Now in the 100+ year long view, Electricity is where we will have to head. This will necessitate converting most or all of the interstate system to rail and a complete re-think of how we view owning a car. But short-term, combustion is where it is at. Even if it's like the Volt where it'll only be used to extend range, we'll still be burning something in our cars because liquid fuels are the easiest to package for their energy content.

How much heavier is the US version compared to the EU version?

Oh well, nature of the audience.

He probably drag races it primarily. Here's another one: He has four hood pins. Not a bad idea... if he removed the hinges to shave weight and had pins at the corners. But four up front? Rice.

I kind of wish they had a second channel that would focus on the GT classes. I think they focused on the DPs a bit too much. Anything about the GT classes was essentially "By the way...." But that's an issue with the coverage, not the race. It was good to see that four cars were on the lead lap at the end, and racing so close to each other. Endurance races can too easily end up with a parade at the end with no real threat to the lead.
