Transportation chief eyes taxing miles driven

my first lol of the day. -
I disagree about the money thing. Disappointment is having money to buy things for th same of having things.. HUGE houses filled with crap you can't use is dumb, and bound to depress you when you realize that people don't give a shit. However, Money can give you the TIME and OPPORTUNITY to find your own happiness. It takes money to travel the world in search of the perfect Hamburger. It takes money to follow your dreams of becoming a professional racer. And if you find that perfect Hamburger, or reach Formula 1 and find out that you're not as hapy as you houghtyou would? Well, you've got the money to try again and follow your next ambition. Disappointment from money stems from seeing money as a goal in and of itself; raw materialism. But seeking money o you have more options in life can help you find that happiness. At least, that's my philosophy. That reminds me, I gotta go get a lottery ticket.

Wow, you Obama haters are getting really pathetic. Funny I don't see Obama in that picture... What do you see? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29298315/ Oh look! Obama says this guy's an idiot too... Wow, good thing I didn't blame the mileage tax idea on Obama, or I'd feel REAL silly right about now. -
+rep for the first guy to slap one of these on a car wreck and post pictures.

Idiotic in the extreme. Let's raise transportation costs so EVERYTHING costs more. That's real good for the economy. Great thinking.... -
Makes me wonder why 22 men have left her..... You'd think once they found out how many marriages she's been through that the guys would think something was wrong.

Seems the simple option is to Tax children instead of giving breaks for them. More children is more drain on resources, let's get their parents to pay for some of it. Maybe not tax the FIRST kid, but 2 and the breaks go away, 3 and you start paying more taxes for each one.

I'd like to know too. Got a new nephew that I'm determined will be a gearhead. I tried to find some plush cars, but noone makes any good ones.

Gonna call BS on the nail bit, but the rest is really good.

Started out as a general... ehh, ok.. But then it degenerated into pure WIN.

People just don't understand how much energy is locked up in those things.. Just your description had me cringing before I even clicked the link. That guy's lucky they only crushed the tip of his finger. Magnets that big could have broken his entire hand. Or worse yet, missed his hand and struck each other directly. They'd likely shatter like a small grenade and send pieces into any unprotected flesh, like his eyes.

Sure, though how do you sue someone who isn't a citizen? Here's a question, these illegal aliens, were they deported after the trial?
-
If his appeal falls through, he'll probably just start killing them and burying the bodies.

I guess we can agree to disagree. From my POV, the big 3 have a HUGE image problem that needs fixing ASAP. It sounds like you seem to think that isn't a problem. *shrug*

See my above post, I disagree. The F-150 is the best selling truck of all time. It's also one of, if not THE, best selling vehicle of all time. But they're spending tons of money to advertise it. Anyone who doesn't have the F-150 on their shortlist of work trucks is either an idiot, or isn't going to buy it due to bias against Ford. COntinuing a media BLITZ like they are now is just a waste of cash. When the imports get an award or an acclaim from a magazine or other organization, they are IMMEDIATELY advertising it. Hell, BMW and Honda were selling hydrogen cars WHEN THEY DON'T EVEN EXIST! THAT'S how you construct an image and get people to think differently about you. Expecting word of mouth to advertise for you when your name alone turns people off is just dumb.
-
Ah, but if the top sellers are doing well, then they SHOULD focus on the middle of the road models. Image again. You want to buy a truck, what's going to be in the top 3 of your list? The F-150. (I'll bet the Toyota Tundra is there too, wonder why?) So if everyone equates "Good Truck" with F-150, it nearly sells itself. Then why spend money telling people what they already know? Put some money into improving the sales of the middle and back markers. Get THEIR sales up so they pay for themselves, rather than dragging on your profits from your top sellers. Unfortunately, Ford is spending money paying Mike Rowe and Dennis Leary to tell the truck buyers who are already going to look at the F-150 that they should look at the F-150.

They probably can't beat it at its own game, but they can at least put the Fusion in people's heads. At least they can get the people who wanta hybrid but don't like the Prius. HOnestly, this article declaring the Fusion as the best hybrid out there should be trumpeted by Ford from every rooftop. All they have to do is just get people to think "Hey, the Ford Fusion beat the Prius??" and they have their foot in the door, and more people in the dealerships. Right now, when someone's looking for a hybrid, I'll bet Ford isn't on their short list. But as you said, there's years of image to overcome. That's exactly what the Big3 have to deal with, and they should be doing everything they can to turn their image around.
-
First off, I don't watch the news. As you said, it's full of BS anyways. As I said before, it doesn't mean SHIT if a company makes a car that does 1000mpg, runs forever, and gives you a BJ while in traffic, if they don't tell the idiots out there that they have it! That's great! But let's fucking HEAR about it if they actually want to sell it. Go out and ask 10 people on the street what's the best hybrid right now. You know what they'll say? PRIUS! I'll bet you lunch that not one person will name a Ford; let alone the Fusion.

Rather cool.. I really like that it's 70lbs lighter too.

Ahh, looks like it isn't a functioning church though.
-
Apparently not, what's Boma?
-
Another thought.. If you ship all your bottles to them, can you deduct your beer and booze expeditures as charitable expenses? They need the bottles empty, right?
-
You know, it's nice to see a religion that's not so full of itself that it can't handle new ideas. Imagine if someone build a church out of beer bottles? "How could they! That's SO disrespectful!"

I knew I'd get a response like this... Ahh, at least you took a second look at what I wrote. And my answer to this question is both yes and no. Let's go back to that other thread... My point there was that American Automotive manufacturers have an image problem. When reliability and technology in cars comes up in discussion, the average Joe is going to think of imports. People in the US do not have faith in the Big 3. And ultimately, it doesn't matter what a company does financially if it can't sell it's products. This leads to another point I tried to make; People are sheep! John and Jane Smith don't research a car company's financial situation or investment decisions when they buy a car. Most don't research at all. They take an afternoon or weekend off and hit as many dealerships they can before getting frustrated and then buy a car. What dealerships they hit and what cars they look at are going to be influenced by advertisements. So proper advertising is important if GM, Ford, and Chrysler want to change their image and get people to hit their dealerships. So back to your question. First , No, I'm not saying Ford is doing NOTHING. But they certainly aren't trying to change their IMAGE. But, Yes, I think Ford isn't doing anything to improve the basic problem the Big 3 face while GM is. While Ford is essentially saying to the public "If you want a truck, buy our F-150, everything else is as it always has been.", GM is actually trying to change their image by saying "If you're thinking of these imports, check out our cars, they'll surprise you because they're actually better in some respects." Chrysler isn't saying much of anything; apparently business is peachy and everyone thinks they make great cars. I doubt GM is going anywhere, and it's not a given that when a company declares Chapter 11 that the stock will become worthless (though it's a STRONG possibility.) Cliff Notes: People are idiots, GM is telling them what to buy, while Ford and Chrysler believe they'll come around due to their innate awesomeness.
