It has a faster seek time; nearly instantaneous. But the transfer rate is crap. Vista will use it to store small bits of info. And if you have more than 1G of RAM, vista won't really use it.
  2. His run in the STI was awesome also..
  3. I disagree on Chip Foose, Lexus IS-F, and MPG. I like Chip's designs. So he likes two-tones and billet rims. It's a style. The IS-F will have a stiff suspension since it's not a luxo-barge, it's the first legitimate stab at the M3 from a non-european company. That's huge. MPG is still important regardless of gas prices. They won't stay this low forever. It's too bad the Tesla is such a joke. It really could have sparked more interest in electric cars as a performance alternative. But instead it's an over-priced phantom that can be cited as a reason NOT to develop electric cars.

  5. For the record, I am thinking of selling my WRX. To make it nationally competitive in M4, the amount of money I'd have to sink into it is roughly the same as if I were to sell it and buy an STI which has all the changes I want stock. Then I could stay in PA. Now if only I could find a real cheap 04 STI. But the 07.. I'll be buried in that car.
  6. One of the pics on the front page got me thinking. There's always threads about "why did you buy X" or something similar. But why do you sell your cars? You buy a car you like, put a lot of money and ten times as much of your time into it. Then you race it, which is arguably the ultimate use for that car. And then.. You sell it. Why? Now that I have my STI, I can't possibly see myself selling it. But I'm sure others have different views of their cars, so I'm curious. So, again, why do you sell your fun cars?
  7. And I'm pretty sure the forecloseure gets wiped off their credit report in 7 years. Just like bankruptcy, but without having to sell your car and other valuables. Or retain an expensive lawyer.

For the record, if MS ran their company like Apple does, the government would have broken MS up.
  9. I think they just get a slap on the credit report. If they stayed in the house it would be a different matter, but the house is collateral on the mortgage. So at the time of singing, the house was valued at X, which the bank agreed was a fair trade for the money. If they give the house to the bank in lieu of payment, then I would think that it is a better deal for the bank.. contract-wise. Unfortunately, the housing market took a dump, so the houses aren't worth what they were originally appraised at. This is what's killing the banks. They end up with all these houses that aren't worth the money they paid for them, and no way to get the money back. Even if the house is worth the lion's share of the unpaid principle, they still have to sell the house. The speculator market is completely dead and the private market is near frozen. All that's left is auctions which means they'll take an even bigger hit. Ultimately, the banks screwed themselves when they were screwing the customer. They were HOPING some of the people would default, then they get the money the people paid, plus the house which they could sell for HIGHER than the original loan. Even if the customer didn't default, they would still reap huge gains through those ridiculous rates. But the bubble burst and their plan is falling apart at the worst moment.
  10. repost. But I would not be surprised if something like that would sell.
  11. A 3rd gen, really? I'd rather a 2nd gen. At this point, BOTH are going to need extensive work. Might as well build up the better looking one.
  12. I've become more discerning. When I was younger, I liked all forms of racing (including NASCAR :shame:). But as I've become older, I've started to lean towards specific forms of racing. I like types of racing that use a wide range of techniques and require the best of both the driver AND the car. And what I want from a car has changed as well. A perfect example is my past cars. I owned a '98 T/A. Loved it. But now, I'd be very disappointed in it. Back then, I wanted a car that was quick. Now, I want a car that can turn as well. As for kids, not for me. But I am looking forward to the time when I can get my nephew into karting!
  13. he's paying 3.25% not .0325% Still pretty BA. With all these foreclosures, seems like someone looking to BUY is in a good position. But then, I could likely be very wrong...
  14. Why is it that "Peaceful, loving, and compassionate" religious people make me want to commit violence? Maybe I just have a hatred for hypocrisy.

I run Vista 64-bit on all of my machines, including my gaming machines. It works fine. I don't see what the issue is that everyone's having. Honestly, the Vista hate I see smells a LOT like the XP hate when it came out. But now everyone loves XP. It seems a lot of people forgot about what the transition from the Win## series of OSes to XP was like. Vista's need to have you verify everything you click on stems from all the idiots out there that will click everything. "BAWWW! You SUCK Microsoft! My computer is full of viruses because I can't keep from sticking my mouse's dick in every hole. It's your fault I'm an idiot, it's your responsibility to save me from myself! FIX IT!" So MS said "Fine, we'll make sure you know you're clicking on something that has the power to hurt your computer." Now it's "BAWWWW! You SUCK Microsoft! I have to click three times before I can do anything! FIX IT!" Vista's memory useage is another misunderstood thing. Microsoft looked at all the RAM people are crammign into their computers as said "Gee, there's all this memory sitting around doing NOTHING, let's use it if they have it." But the oldschoolers start crying out "BAWWW! You SUCK Microsoft! This number here is too high! I don't like high numbers here! I'd rather all this RAM I paid for sits around and does NOTHING for me! FIX IT!" It's a good thing Microsoft makes a ton of money. Otherwise they probably would have packed up shop just to dump us back into the dark ages of computing when no two people had the same OS and programmers had to program for EVERY possible PC configuration. I'm not saying MS is God's gift to PCs, but they take a LOT of uncalled-for flak.
  16. Fun was had. I kept screwing up my high speed drifts, either bogging hard or screwing up the 2-1 downshift. But it was a blast. Even won the only two drag races my WRX will likely ever win. It was good meeting everyone.
  17. Think I can hire him to be a lift when I rebuild my suspension?
  18. One of my favorites was a tanto-tipped Bali-Song with serrations. I used that knife for everything. Unfortunately, it's not exactly legal in a lot of states. The store I bought it from didn't have the original packaging so I didn't know that the manufacturer offered tune-ups and repairs. When it broke I tossed it. I regret that. I also seem to be the only person that opens one of those with a vertical whiplike motion rather than the flashier figure eight.

<tinfoilhat> Obama is actually backed by the arms manufacturers. By saying he will try to push though gun control laws, he's created a boom in the arms market! </tinfoilhat>
  20. Fuck it. Cut 'em all off. Get your balance back and try again. What good is having six chicks if you're not happy? I don't know about you, but I don't put up with shit like that. Pussy's great, but it's not the be-all/end-all of life. Think like that, and you'll be pussy-whipped. Take back control of your life.
  21. EVO Racecar Engineering Neither really replaces SCC, but the first has great cars and great writing, the second is kinda nerdy, but very interesting if you're into what goes into racecars.
