  1. Nope. That's the California, judging by the tailpipes. So no excuses. :gabe:
  2. This engine design has been around for a while actually. There was even a sci-fi RPG that used it in its robot designs called Heavy Gear. http://th01.deviantart.net/fs12/PRE/i/2006/263/c/7/Heavy_Fear__Kodiak_v2_0_by_panick.jpg The pods on the back are the rotating cylinder blocks of this kind of engine. I always thought it was an interesting idea.
  3. The Veyron is a complete car. Do 250mph at an airstrip then have your SO hop in and go for a weekend road trip in comfort. The Venom is only good at the track. I doubt it would be very comfortable for even the drive home.
  4. We're expanding our hours so the parts department is hiring a fourth person for nights and weekends. Knowledge of OEM parts catalogs and previous experience a plus, but not a requisite. Ideally you should have excellent attention to detail and a head for numbers. I'm happy to answer questions about the job. If you're interested in the position, call Jeff at (614)339-2122.

  6. Oh, and my fingers are killing me. Lol
  7. The GP kit has 1141 pieces. Only about 50 pieces are specific to the car, and those have enough connections to be useful in other designs. Other than the lack of Lego dots, I think this is a true Lego kit. I broke down the car and I'm building the truck now. Took me about 4 hours to separate and sort the pieces. The truck should be cool. I'll have pics when I'm done.
  8. No. But the motor will just operate the engine cover and adjustable wing. To drive the wheels you'd have to work it into where the engine is. Shouldn't be too difficult through. I'm thinking with the R/C kit I could put the steering servo where the cockpit is or maybe just in front of the steering wheel.
  9. There's the Creator and City sets for that as well.
  10. It was $160 I think at Toys R Us. The R/C truck and crane are $200+. The thing is, it took me about 8-9 hours to put together, plus there's another vehicle to build, so another 9 hours or so, making it come to about $10/hr of entertainment. Not too bad of a deal. And that's not counting any future fiddling I do or the fact that I end up with a cool model to display.
  11. It's been around 25 years since I played with Legos. But this past Xmas I gave a couple Lego sets to my nephew. Between the two of us, I think I had more fun playing with them. But it reminded me how much fun I had building with them. So I picked up a big-boy kit to build the other day: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/sites/carbuyer_d7/files/styles/article_main_wide_image/public/lego_technic_grand_prix_racer_42000.jpg?itok=YC-OrTln This thing is unbelievably cool. And huge. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5535/12561723245_bfa36712e1_c.jpg The instruction booklet is in three parts! What really blew me away was the suspension and drive line. It has a fully-independent suspension with push-rod actuated shocks. The rear also has telescopic C/V half-shafts and a fully functional differential. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7307/12561842803_e886152ed0_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7292/12562214234_2abd0f16e8_c.jpg Other neat details: The steering wheel turns with the front wheels, and you build a two-position transmission that controls the adjustable rear wing and elevating engine cover through a single rotating knob. The GP racer took most of a Saturday to build. Attention to detail counts HEAVILY, and I highly recommend getting a bunch of zip-lock baggies to keep the pieces sorted. Like most Lego sets, there's an alternate design of a "Racing Truck" that I'll likely do at some point. There is also a MASSIVE crane kit and a truck kit that has a remote control! If I get the R/C kit I think I'll try to adapt it to the GP racer. I'm really impressed with what Lego has done; I was geeking out on this this kit all day. I do miss that the kit doesn't use more conventional blocks, and instead uses a pin-and-girder design, but I can work with that. Overall it was a lot of fun.
  12. I work for Dennis, but I'm sure every dealership has a finger in this one way or another. I do wonder what they are trying to accomplish. All this will do is pause Tesla sales temporarily. Tesla would only have to "sell" their stores on paper and they're back in business. So how much competition could they possibly hope to squash? If it's the direct-sales model that they are trying to kill, it won't effect this one bit. Again, it's a simple matter of routing the customer's requests through a local store. But the end result, as far as the customers are concerned, won't be any different. Hell, if Tesla REALLY wants to give these dealerships the finger, they could sell $60K key fob sets that come with a complimentary car accessory/holder.
  13. I don't think the 83 went into the hole. I think the story meant that they removed the 83 from the dome so it wouldn't go in if the hole widened. The 83 wasn't on the list of 8 that went in.
  14. Now that I'm seeing how a dealership works from the inside, I can see why they are fighting Tesla. And it's not for the customer, regardless of what they are telling the state legislature.
  15. Mods please move this if it needs to be. My Girlfriend has a lot of crafting hobbies, one of which is making "Decoden" picture frames and other things. She's made a bunch for friends and family, and now she's put some up for sale. http://img0.etsystatic.com/038/0/5600466/il_fullxfull.561830962_9vk4.jpg http://img1.etsystatic.com/043/0/5600466/il_fullxfull.561943365_knxo.jpg Each piece is hand-laid so no two frames will ever be the same, and she has a diverse bunch up for sale right now. Named for her cats, her e-shop is "Peep + Pook Shiny Things." I'd appreciate it if people would take a look. Thanks!
  16. Nothing fancy here; I sell parts. For my advice I'd say, do what you love. But failing that, do something you like to pay for what you love. Despite what society claims, you don't have to find "fulfillment" in your work. You can use your work as a tool to find fulfillment elsewhere in life.
  17. Subaru has been disappointing me lately. They've never been particularly good looking cars, but at least they weren't boring. Now.... Zzzzzzz.
  18. Drat. Hope they get it all straightened out.
  19. No reason why they wouldn't if the other nose also passed the crash tests. The rules would only ban a change once qualifying starts.
  20. F1Technical.net is a great site for info. I highly recommend it.
  21. I keep forgetting it's this Friday. Hope I remember to show!
  22. I like the RBR design, but I'm curious how Newey got the under-nose airflow with it. The Caterham design is one of the more interesting. The penis-nose designs look stupid and hopefully will become better looking by the first race. The Lotus design could look really good too. We'll see. As for practice times.. ehh.. I don't pay attention to them. Same as free practice, you're never sure you're seeing everything a team's got. Q3 is the time to really compare cars. EDIT: Oh, the lack of a "Monkey Saddle" at the back of the RB10 is VERY surprising.
  23. The thinking is that the air that enters the front will travel much like the old cars (under the nose and then out to the side pods to increase downforce on the "tea tray"). The slope of the underside of the nose will accelerate the air that enters the front, creating a low-pressure area that will draw even more air from around the sides to join the flow underneath, increasing the downforce further. Will this work? Who knows? Ferrari's wind tunnel efforts have been a bit ineffective lately (resulting in at least one guy getting sacked). But even if it does work as designed, it still won't be as good as the high nose. Overall, the new nose regs and the smaller front wings should mean less front downforce. With the removal of the lower element on the rear and the mandated center-exit exhaust, rear downforce will be down too. I don't think we'll be seeing as many record times in 2014 as we saw in 2013... ..unless the torque from the new electric motors make exit-speeds notably higher.
