Well supposedly a GY6 swap will put it over 60mph without much hassle. I'm pretty sure it's 4-stroke surprisingly. I don't have to mix oil with the gas and it has a PCV system. 2nd day of ownership and I've started taking apart the mass of vacuum lines that compromise most of the emissions system. I plan to remove the stock airbox but it'll require re-jetting the carb and I'm having trouble nailing down a source for new jets. So I can either rock the stock airbox or choke down the intake once I put a filter on it.
-
I guess it could mean that he hit 9K rpm in 5th completely separate from the airborne incident. If that's the case he was well over 160mph.
-
That appears to be the case:
-
Don broke it! But it wasn't the engine. Shift fork bent. He caught air and didn't lift, was turning 9000rpm when he shifted into 5th. Apparently flat-foot shifting is a no-no.

If it's got wheels and a motor, it doesn't stay stock in my hands: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8315/7989920978_eb47f40ab8_c.jpg Removed the fenders, floorboard, and plastic belly pan. Re-routed breather lines and harness to keep them out of the way. Cool, good to know. New they are $2570. $3086 out the door. I was looking for used ones, and all I could find are ones that were already modified, or stock ones costing $2000 in another state. Might as well go new. Once it warms up, it got my big ass (6'4", 250lbs) to 35 on a relatively flat road. Supposedly just playing with the weights in the CVT is good for 5mph or so. Then there are other tuning options for the stock (GET) motor. Here's a modified one: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs402.snc4/46510_105186716207560_100001486970613_43565_2376969_n.jpg http://images.cmsnl.com/m/gallery/honda/Honda_Zoomer_Ruckus/Honda%20Ruckus%20Gokubuto.jpg Crazy Ruck: (notice the turbo) http://www.rucksters.com/images/CompanyUrl/2012-6-411.jpg Not a Ruck, but similar drivetrain: (heavily modified obviously) Personally, I want to stay out of traffic as much as possible. Not to mention the slower it is, the less temptation to do stupid shit. I know my limitations and I know I would not survive a fast bike. Some owners are city dwellers and don't need a big bike, some do this because they can't afford to mod a bigger bike or car. And frankly, scooters are just cool.

From you, I'll take that as a compliment. :lolguy:

Lines out the door and down the sidewalk.. I'll try to get it during the week or skip C&C next weekend and be there when they open.

This is where it begins. 2012 Honda Ruckus http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8031/7989326240_32e2f5cd7f_c.jpg 50cc of pure scooter MADNESS!! :lolguy: By next summer I plan to have it stretched, lowered, wire tucked, and running a square fatty rear tire. I'm going to keep power mods simple, just to get it running better. Though if it turns out that a GY6 swap will increase the resale (more than the cost of the swap) then it'll get bumped to 150cc. I just need to come up with a theme. I don't want to do all black. Now is the time for something more eye-catching than my usual vehicles. One idea is to do a riff on the classic hotrod: http://static.ddmcdn.com/gif/hot-rod-2.jpg Whitewall or red-line tires, red wheels, possibly a half-moon rear hubcap, and chrome bits here and there among a matte or semi-gloss black finish, and a red roll-and-tuck seat. It's not as flashy as some, but it's relatively easy which might be a good idea for a first project. Or I could go more flashy with a brightly colored frame, polished or chrome wheels, and other elements. Haven't decided yet. Oh, a motorcycle permit might be a good idea. But first up (not counting the permit) will be removing the floorboard and fitting a set of pegs. Since I used to ride mountain bikes, I'm just not comfortable controlling this thing while sitting down.

What about 0 calorie sodas? Hard to pack on the pounds with flavored water.

He needs a servo to push the start button...

Because people hate a winner. I'm not saying we're perfect, far from it. But even if we're guilty of half what they say about us, it doesn't matter. Other countries are guilty of TWICE what we've done in some form or another. We're better off than most of the world and that pisses people off. We could keep to our borders, fix the middle east, feed the hungry, and piss fucking rainbows across the sky and we'd still be hated.
-
I plan to be there as long as I don't sleep through my alarm again...

Bad-ass

A few people have said that. Probably a testament to my poor photog skillz. The Ruck isn't all that pricey and custom parts are pretty cheap. Whole GY6 drivetrain swaps for $1K! So I think it'll be a fun little project. It'll also give me a chance to do something that's more Form than Function. I just have to decide on a theme... Possibly. Though there's a dark blue FR-S in that area too. I've passed it twice on Hayden Run coming out of Hilliard.

Haven't found any. Problem is, the bottom end of a boxer isn't easy to see. The mains are essentially the case halves themselves. So you just see some cast aluminum bars with the crank peeking between them.

The car we're talking about is the Accelerated Performance shop BRZ. (kinda)

FA20 crank is on the bottom: http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/s720x720/483938_10151123041629245_119489161_n.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a383/Kostamojen/subaru-fb-series-engine-inline-1.jpg

It's made multiple runs at the strip on two different days and it's been in some mexican street races too. Also, noted above, there's another car with a similar setup that is Visconti tuned that sees track days; so 20-30 minute sessions. This setup is driven hard.

Info comes in small bits here and there. Apparently they're running an 8800rpm redline (up from 7400 stock). Again, on a stock longblock. If this engine doesn't pop soon, Subaru and Toyota have been holding back quite a bit.
-
Blue for MT, Red for AT. The AT 4th gear is covered by the MT 5th gear as they are the same ratio (1:1).
-
4-valve cylinders, so it has an exhaust port for each exhaust valve. I guess it's pretty easy to pack 4 valves in the head when each piston is the size of a coffee can.
-
Oh, someone plotted this, let me see if I can find it.. Here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=4647&d=1328919472 Looks like the MT runs out of gearing at around 172mph, and the AT will likely creep by it at around 185 in 5th. 6th in the AT looks a bit high to be usable unless there's a LOT of power under the hood.
-
It's also 5000lbs. 42L V12. That's 3.5L PER cylinder! It breathes fire and sounds like a natural disaster and even erupts like a volcano: A test drive: Notice the torpedoes on the side; the engine is from a WWII torpedo boat.
