  1. That car was a BEAST. Unfortunately it was also about to disintegrate. :lolguy:
  2. I tried it tight and I had to dump speed for the "bridge" because the front started pushing. You can hear my tires squealing through that turn. Any tighter and it'd start pushing again. The understeer was like a switch. Once it flipped I had to back off to get the front to turn in again. So I had to stay under that point to keep the car neutral. I might have been able to do this, but at this point on the course I had "aggressive entry = understeer" hammered into me so I went for a smoother line. This part was more working around the engine. The two 180s were a little fast for 1st and a little slow for 2nd. In 2nd gear the car was right in the torque valley and was slow getting through the corners. If they were slower, or faster I'd have been able to stay in 2nd. Absolutely appreciate it. The first bits of the suspension arrived today. I hope to make it to one or both of the events in October and I'll try more aggressive entries once I get some negative camber on the car. I think I was getting enough weight transfer that the outside front was going very positive. I should have felt the temps across the tire, but didn't think of it. It's funny that my corner entries are being pointed at. In RallyX a fast aggressive corner entry is mandatory for a turbo car so the driver can get on the gas sooner and get the turbo spooled for exit. Usually that hurts in AutoX and with the BRZ being a "momentum car" I've been working on smoothing out my corners and trying to carry speed, rather than just diving in.
  3. Were you the one that spun in the sweeper after the first slalom and yelled out "FUCK!" ? EDIT: Looking at the times, I think that was your co-driver. He yelled it so loud workers need corner 1 were laughing. :lolguy:
  4. RAW times Class times I was in STX because my new wheels bump me out of C-Stock (RTR). Funny thing is, If I had stuck with 7" wide wheels I would have won RTR with my times. Looks like Das Borgen was in STS and Jones in SMS. I did beat Jones on PAX, but I don't care about PAX all that much.
  5. Ok, ran both side by side and there was a gain in the slalom. But there was a steady gain across the whole lap too. You got out of the right hander before the 2-cone slalom better than I did, but it looks like I made up a bit in the final S before the finish. Also, that run was a 54.4 vs my best of a 53.7 so it's not the best sample of my driving that day. I could squeeze a bit more out of the slalom, but I didn't want to over-drive it. The car was stable, but by the last couple gates the rear was getting unsettled. The car is designed to slide at the limit in its factory setup and if I pushed much harder I think my times would have dropped off significantly. 0 camber in the front and -0.5 in the rear is not a good setup for ultimate grip. If you want to play that game, Das Borgen beat both Jones and I in a Del Sol. :gabe:
  6. Interesting. I'm not sure where I'm leaving that second on the track. We had similar lines. I think I just have to work on being smoother.
  7. First AutoX in the BRZ with a real set of tires. Fantastic improvement. The level of grip from a stock-suspension car with just a tire upgrade is amazing. Once I got the tire pressures sorted thcar did everything I asked of it with minimal understeer. I can't wait to get a real alignment on this thing. I had a good lead on Jones for most of the day, but at the end, Jones pulled off a great run. I think my BRZ has a Half-Second Curse on it. The past two events I've been 0.5 sec behind the car I'm using to benchmark. Grats Jones! Good driving.
  8. If you want something to go with that color, Bronze like above. If these are purely track wheels, pick a color of Skittles.
  9. I am amazed this didn't catch on. It's so American. Loud, heavy-hitting, and TRUCKS!!11!.
  10. I want to drive that road..
  11. All this 555 talk is making me want to go.. It's been too long since I've had fun on some twisty roads.
  12. Have you ever seen those things circuit racing? They have to spray water on the brake rotors to keep the heat under control.
  13. I'll have to try that next time. Sounds good.
  14. This is good stuff. I like that it has a bite, and that it doesn't come from peppers. The Worcestershire flavor base is a great twist on the usual BBQ palette. For anyone like me that likes BBQ sauces as much as BBQ itself, this is a must-try.

  16. I have an open mind and I am far from the first to put down a car. There are some things I dislike about some cars. FWD is one, but I can admit that there are some good FWD cars. However, I have driven FWD cars and I do not like how they drive. Heavy weight doesn't improve any car, I am pretty set on that one however. And while I can appreciate the work put into cars that are more show than go, I don't think I should feel like I have to own one. It's an opinion. CR is built on opinion. I know that not everyone will like the BRZ. I just find it interesting that those that decry it as an overpriced slug add just as much buzz as those who like it. These threads on CR alone are indicative of the "Howard Stern" effect. I have never said someone is wrong for not liking the BRZ. I have, however tried to put comments in perspective. But frankly, the exaggerated comments are more amusing to me than anything. The wider, stickier tires have tightened the handling a bit, but it still moves around enough to be fun. I'm wondering how much of that is the lack of negative camber on the car. It will be interesting to see how the car changes once I get the suspension sorted.
  17. Their 18" test is invalid because it was an inch taller than stock. Great review. For the price, I think he'd rather have the GT86. But if price isn't a factor, I think he'd choose the Cayman. He's spot on with everything he says about the GT86/FR-S/BRZ/ETC/WTF/BBQ. I can't speak from experience about the 370Z or Cayman though. And this is why it's such a great car. Even those who dislike it will talk about it. It's the "Howard Stern" effect. :lolguy:
  18. I think Truck tires are usually inflated to 120psi..
  19. Everyone knows that the Driver Skill option is only available in cars starting over $50K.
  20. I would have given the chopper pilot a medal too. He had to ride in a washing machine with the guy and that RPG.

    Depression

Oh, and don't be afraid to seek help! It takes more balls to talk about stuff than it does to bottle it up and live with it.
