  1. You'd better believe that if I were him, I would be on the hunt for that white bitch that picked me out of a line up. They should send her to jail for being stupid, and he should get anything he wants of hers.
  2. German cars are all about fit and finish... hence the solid feel. Unfortunately that comes at a price, and that price is that is weighs 3200+ #'s. But, thanks for the jetta love
  3. 6 times a day? Definitely looks nice though... my brother had an E30 3 series with over 250k and that thing would not quit running.
  4. $325 just for install? Yikes. Right now I'm leaning towards buying from Planet Miata, already installed on the brackets, so all it takes is bolting/unbolting, and I won't have to worry about stretching and riviting and such. If not that, I'll probably just try to tackle it myself. Thanks for the input...
  5. x2 on the Alton Brown (Good Eats) episode. He is the man.
  6. Thanks, sorry about that... thought it was kind of an inbetweener type subject. Anyone else have any ideas?
  7. I'll be buying a new top for my miata within a week or two. I'm currently weighing my options as far as what to buy, where to buy it, and installation. Right now I'm leaning towards buying one that is already mounted on the frame, so all I have to do is unbolt the old fram, and bolt in the new one. That way I don't have to worry about riviting, etc. If I would decide to buy a top and have it installed professionally, Does anyone know of any shops in the area that have experience installing tops (especially on a miata), and possibly what they would charge to install one? Or, if anyone has experience with this and wants some extra cash, feel free to speak up...
  8. I also skimmed through this thread.... I am a mechanical engineer. I graduated from a top 10 ME program, and I have a good job in the automotive industry. I have never been so insecure about myself to post 5,000 word essays on car forums to show everyone how much I know. I can almost understand posting all that crap if someone actually posed the question "Can someone please discuss the positives and negatives of xxx turbo system?" But seriously, posting that just for the benefit of all the "lowly non-engineers" is the most self-gratifying thing I have ever seen. Oh, and as far as the mouse trap goes... sure, it's working if mice are dying, but there's always a more efficient way.
  9. ^ what he said. They are technically legal, but would last what, maybe a few hundred miles before cording? Haha
  10. Yeah, I've got them on OVR, WOR and Cincinnati region autocross forum, also sccaforums.com. It's kind of skinny for an 18" tire, so it's not a super hot ticket item, but still an unreal price for the right person.
  11. If I still have them in a few months, maybe. These things retailed for $263/tire about a year and a half ago... $350/set is kind of a steal already.
  12. Yeah I figure there is about a 1% chance of anyone on here needing 225/40/18 r-comps, so I'm happy just to keep bumping it to the top Car came with stock and corbeau seats, stock and racing wheels, and shorter stiffer springs for the front... besides all the other aftermarket goodies. I didn't know you got a hardtop with that thing also. That is insane. I'm just going to replace the soft top though, no need for me to spend the money on a hardtop. Oh, and that car in the picture has at least 17's... the rota's on my car are 16's.
  13. We shook hands monday and he delivered it yesterday, so if you hadn't talked to him since then, you wouldn't have known he sold it  He put a radio back in it... some no name cd player. Anything that gets sound out is fine with me...
  14. Yup, it was Chad's car. I could not be happier about the purchase. I had a list of STS2 miata mods I wanted to do, and this car already has every one, down to the brand of wheels and suspension parts. Now, someone buy these tires so I can buy a new top!
  15. Haha, the 18's were for the GLI. What Hot_Wire was talking about is that I bought a miata as my new autox car, which is why I don't need these for my GLI anymore. Here's a pic of the miata for you Ed... it is completely STS2 prepped http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f122/jjschafe/IMG_0215.jpg
  16. Set of 4, brand new, never mounted 225/40/18 Hoosier A3S05's. I bought them for a steal off of Hoosier's discontinued tire site at the end of this summer. Plans changed, and I got a different autox car. I just want to get my money back, which is insanely cheap for an r-comp... $350 http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f122/jjschafe/IMG_0147.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f122/jjschafe/IMG_0146.jpg
  17. I've lived in governour's square since last march, and I have been happy. There are some mexicans, but not an overwhelming amount by any extent. If you do move there, make sure you get one of the newly renovated places... the new kitchens are the shit.
  18. Check out avsforum.com for more info than you could ever want to know about anything. That place is seriously awesome. Onkyo reciever's are very good. I currently have the 540 (last years model), which is known to be about the best "budget" 7.1 reciever out there. In general, you want to stay away from home theatre in a box packages, unless that is all your budget will allow. Search the speaker and sub forums on avs for budget speakers. To the people on that forum, budget means anything not 100% audiophile approved. So basically the best product for a normal home theatre budget. They tipped me off to some Advent speakers, which were actually $200/speaker speakers made by a german company, but rebadged as advent and sold for like $80/speaker in the US. I wound up getting them on closeout (they stopped making them) for $40/pair, and they sound unbelievable. Search around that forum, I'm sure there are other deals like that out there...

    Bowling.

If you guys are looking for high performance balls, they are tons cheaper online, even after you have them drilled. Obviously shoes and bags are also cheaper online (bowlingball.com, etc). If you are looking for plastic balls or entry level hook balls, they are usually just as cheap (after drilling) if you buy them at regular stores. Oh, and it is definitely an urban myth that the balls sold online are rejects from the manufacturer. Unless they are sold as blem balls, of course...
  20. pics to schafer.jerry@gmail.com please
  21. I remember reading last spring that the srt guys got it to top 200mph while testing at our very own TRC test track in marysville. The article also said that they went something like 180mph with the top down

    DSM problem

So this thing was at a garage, throwing a CE light, and no one pulled the code? Why would this not be the first thing looked at? That is the reason the codes are there, to help diagnose a problem. My guess would be either a major leak somewhere in the intake track, or, more likely, a MAF (MAS, whatever) malfunction. Again, if it is the MAF, the CE code should tell you that...
  23. Not to try to threadjack, but to whoever buys that amd pc, if it is socket 754, I have a brand new amd 64 3000+ I'll sell real cheap (like $25) that would really speed that thing up...
