It's not...usually. There is a free alternative to pretty much everything for *nix though. Mint also has a dead easy install. Burn to disk. Boot from disk. Click install. Intuitive interface, has same web browsers (minus god awful IE) and will do everything + more that windows will do out of the box. If you set your kids up with user accounts as opposed to administrator, they can't damage anything. Also, remote administration is stupid easy.

Why not install Linux Mint on their machine(s) and completely void yourself of threats to you and them?

Pretty much this. I had people looking for this software every week when I worked at microcenter, and a few wanted guarantees that the kids wouldn't stumble across bad things. Too many times I've wanted to say "bitch, this is the fucking internet." That being said, because the software sold would of been sub-par at best a decade ago, there is a lot of free goodies I recommended instead. If you're looking for simple content blocking, there is a ton of google chrome and firefox extensions that do a better job than any paid solution. Problem is if the kids are smart enough, they can be disabled. Believe me, if they are better at doing things on a computer (or quicker) than you, its a matter of time. That's how I was. I was experimenting with linux live CDs when I was 11 or 12. It doesn't get by watchful eyes, however.

You're going to need thermal paste for the processor/heatsink when you switch it to the new board. Remove the cards from old motherboard and leave cpu/heatsink connected. Then when its out of the case, thats when I transfer those components. LGA775 heatsinks and such usually use little rotating clips. Turn them to the right normally, then pull to release. Don't forget to turn them back to the left before you install on the new motherboard. Oh, and when installing the fan, you will probably get some bend in the motherboard from the force you have to use, so make sure to support it really well from the back.

Only ever saw a 3D broadcast during the Olympics. Was unwatchable due to the large field of view and constantly shifting focus. 3D looks like utter shit without a ton of post processing. I downloaded 2 3D movies, one was decent. Shutter glasses will make your eyes bleed though. I think it's Panasonic and Toshiba that have TVs that use regular polarized glasses now, which is what movie theaters use. Overall verdict, 3D sucks.
