  1. I'll get CR a table for 16 on the patio for 7 p.m. I'll buy the first pitcher.
  2. Yeah, I'm going dressed as Darth Vader and I plan on blinding anyone who comes close to me with my new blue Wicked Laser http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82658&highlight=lucas Talk about family fun
  3. I hope you get a chance to come back to CR, Ethan. It will depend on how the mods and administrators feel. And, post up some damn car photos! +rep
  4. In case you're bored and wanting somewhere to cruise these nice evenings, here's a reminder of a few things going on. Thursday 7/29: Cruise in at Buehler's in Delaware (W. Central Ave.) 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Free registration, nice gift bags to the first 50 to show up, it's a mix of the usual local car show stuff (50's Chevys & 60's Stangs, a few nice older cars) This has been in a previous thread. It's held every other week. I attend because it's a couple of blocks from where I live. Trophy for best in show, 50/50 drawing, nice door prizes (portable chairs, grill, etc.) Friday 7/30: Fast & Furious @ Quaker Steak (Polaris) 7 p.m. mostly ricers/European cars, sometimes a good crowd of 60 or so, sometimes only 20. Nice to hang out on the patio and eat dinner. This is also an every-other-week happening and has been posted on CR in the past. Maybe see ya there.
  5. Yeah, it's that #3 that you need to beware of ....
  6. Copyeditor. I've heard that The New Yorker and The Christian Science Monitor are good places to work. I can give you a reference.
  7. And it's not working right anyway ..... some of the words are correctly spelled.
  8. Can someone reboot the Paul bot? I think it's caught in a loop.
  9. Thank gawd you clarified that, Paul. It was soooo confusing!
  10. It's my understanding that the Japanese use their own system of standards for testing oil. Their engineers have developed the Japanese Automotive Standards Organization (JASO) service class ratings, just as the U.S. has the American Petroleum Institute (API) ratings, Europe uses the ACEA standards, and there is even an International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC). Some OEM's even have their own standards such as VW50.0 from Volkswagen, MB22 from Mercedes, and 4718M (Mobil One only) for some Corvettes. Japanese diesel engines use JASO M 355 (DL-1, DH-1, or DH-2). I've both heard and read that some engines can develop problems if you use oil that doesn't meet the manufacturer's minimum requirement. Specifically, the 4.2 Toyota diesel in the Land Cruiser is susceptible to rod problems if you use oil that doesn't meet the JASO standard. As I said before, the off-roader and the Toyota forums have a lot more dependable advice than I can offer.
  11. The advice will be different depending upon the year and the size of diesel. For example, the 4.2 diesel in some of the JDM Land Cruisers will require 9L of motor oil at every 3,000 mile oil change. I have heard that they develop rod end issues if you don't use the Japanese spec oil. The 4 banger diesels in the Land Cruiser Prado are reputed to be slow. Some years used a 2.8 L turbo diesel which was a little better. Most of what I hear is that unlike diesel versions of most trucks, the Land Cruiser diesels are generally more expensive to maintain and get terrible mileage compared to their gasoline versions. Have you checked any of the Land Cruiser or off-road forums? I'm sure they know a lot more about these beasts than anyone here.
  12. Land Cruiser = Toyota Land Rover, Range Rover = British manufacture
  13. If you found this to be interesting ....... well, I'd say you need to get out of the house more. Let me save you all 10 minutes with the Cliffs: It's cool to observe the change as you drive from mountains to flat roads. Curtains insulate and give you privacy. Truck drivers go to lots of places, including truck stops. It's best to find a good parking spot before a place gets busy. Trucks are equipped with TV's and CB radios. Sometimes trucking can be frustrating, especially when your truck is broken. Sorry if I ruined any of the suspense.

    Tonight 7/24

It looks to me like things will stay dry around Columbus until midnight or 1:00. Anyone headed to Sawmill to see what shenanigans the ricers and the police will be into?
  15. Yeah, we rescheduled it to Saturday morning, 8 a.m., just to throw you off.
  16. So conventional Skip the manual tranny, stuff the rug rats behind the seats, and motor with reckless abandon in your Figaro: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/figaro/front.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/figaro/rear.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/figaro/interior.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/figaro/speedo.jpg There's just no way this wouldn't be fun.
  17. Welcome, Brandon. I hope you can make it to some of the track days and other events. + rep

  20. I thought you'd never ask. Wear those boxers I bought for you. :gay:
  21. Walmart in Carriage Place at Bethel and Sawmill.
  22. Tonight the ricer fest moved south to the WalMart parking lot just east of the corner of Sawmill and Bethel Roads. There were a number of cars still at Circuit City with a patrol car watching them but not saying anything. No one racing out of either location that I was aware of.
  23. There's Fast & Furious at QSL beginning at 7 p.m. and lasting as late as you want. Maybe food before or after the Dyno It will be interesting to see if tonight the old Sawmill crowd shows up at this around 11.
  24. Very classy, IMO. But shouldn't you buy Yasmin both?
