  1. I had a blast I wish I could have ridden the sled more, but I got really cold. I had no idea how wet you get in the process. I just got home, and when I took off my jeans there was still ice and snow inside them. Thanks, Thorne, for towing me around and not knocking me off the sled. Sorry you lost your turbo on the way home. Steve, it was good to hang out again--seems like it's been a long time. I haven't laughed so hard for months. Fun times. Thanks everyone, it was good seeing you all.
  2. Great taste in cars. Good intro. Welcome. I hope to see you out at the meets. + rep
  3. I'd like to try saucer riding from the tow rope, but as I said earlier in the thread, I'm not keen on the idea of being run over in the dark by some of you winter driving school flunk-outs.
  4. Maybe the lot next door, which was plowed and salted, would be a better choice for you. We'll come by and check on you from time to time to make sure you're not stuck on a curb or something. Think of it as the "kiddie pool" next to the one for the big kids.
  5. It was good meeting you, too, Gabe. And I have to admit, your Jeep is slightly faster in deep snow than my Buick LeSabre. As far as riding an Iron Butt goes, you CR bikers are always asking to go with me on one. Here's the link, so name your poison: http://www.ironbutt.com/about/about.cfm Keep in mind, though, just how far even the shortest Iron Butt ride is: Can you ride your bike in one day, from here to Portland, Maine? How about from here to Jacksonville, Florida? New Orleans? Columbus to Sioux Falls, South Dakota? Well, none of those trips, even within 24 hours, is long enough to qualify for an Iron Butt. Think along the lines of Columbus to Cheyenne, Wyoming in less than 24 hours. This ain't wheelies and quarter miles, boys. This ain't Hocking Hills and back. If people think they are still interested in doing one of these as a group, I'll start a thread and help organize it. I've already ridden one on the 999 -- I think it'd be insane to do a second one on it.
  6. I'll be up for it next time ...... depending on who's there--I want to try to avoid being "accidently" run over by certain CR members after I fall off the thing.
  7. Definitely fun seeing some of the old crew and meeting a few of you for the first time. It was strangely gratifying to plow through bumper-deep snow in a 2WD Buick sedan and then to see some of you posers get your AWD's and 4x4's stuck where I just plowed. Never underestimate a senior citizen in an old Buick. And Wonder Fail, did your car even make it halfway across the lot the whole night? You bring shame to the fraternity of FWD. :gtfo: Next time we need sleds or an inner tube and a tow rope.
  8. Large veggie, 1 liter diet Coke, and make it snappy. If it's not here in 30 minutes, you have to pay for it.
  9. Wrong model years, not right number of seats, get a cargo van, add the seats yourself ......... jeez, Louise, give the man what he asked for! I think this is what fills the bill, plus leather seats and a little extra protection for your loved ones: Toyota LandCruiser Year:2005 Model: VXR Armor Level: B6(8 Passenger) 4.7 V8 Gasoline Engine,4X4 Manual Transmission IN STOCK : JFK airport (3 available) DETAILS http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/thumb_toyota_VXR.jpg We can discuss obtaining your choice of the 3 available cars after we discuss my reward.
  10. The "old school" of knives: Case XX. They still sell them. I bought mine new in the mid-70's for less than a sawbuck. The bone handle has worn a bit and the main blade has taken a lot of abuse, but it still cuts like a scalpel. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Pict0001.jpg
  11. You silly goose, Subies come standard from the factory with rust enhancers embedded in the paint, so you got that covered .....

  20. I had a good time walking around this show Saturday at the Cleveland IX Center. I got to visit with Casper and his beautiful wife who were staffing the Ohio Motorcyclist for Children display/bike raffle. I know a number of CR members/Ohio Rider members attended, but I think a number of folks who would have enjoyed the afternoon passed on the opportunity because ..... ??? they wanted to mow their lawns/sunbathe/detail their cars ??? Exactly what else was there to do Saturday that was more fun than this? Anyways, enough preaching. Here's what ya missed. It was really busy at the show, so it was challenging to get clear shots of the bikes, let alone any artsy/fartsy camera angles, so they are just basic photos. I've tried to organize them in this order: general crowd shots, new models, vintage, customs, special bike built for wheelcheer riders, Confederate cycle. I hope you enjoy
  21. Last call. I'll be heading up around 11 a.m. today, willing to meet anyone interested in riding along at the TA truck stop on I-71 and US 36 (Delaware/Sunbury exit where we meet for D42 track days). Details on first post of this thread. PM or text me if you're in. 740-405-5565
  22. Yeah, I hear ya. I was surprised that today I drove 50-60 miles in the Viewt but really didn't get it splattered--I think it was cold enough that there wasn't water on the roads. However, I haven't been through Columbus since Wednesday night. Well, the invitation stands if you ever need it.
  23. Out of curiosity, I looked back to that thread that Andy AudiOn19s and Todd TSC17 had posted in. Here's what Andy said: There are VERY effective methods of washing cars without a HOSE...and using very little water. Search for Optimum No Rinse or a product from Protectall called Quick and Easy wash. Both methods use 2 buckets of water combined with their product and I strongly recommend using a spray bottle to mist the area to be washed lightly first. HOWEVER, I've yet to see any of the water free methods that don't make a marred up mess out of the paint in the process Todd said: Rinseless car wash products like Optimum No Rinse are great for most finishes. Waterless though? I'm going to have to pass on that. You might as well run your car through the local swirl-o-matic... It's hard to argue with the advice of those two members. They know their stuff, and their detailing work is unsurpassed. I use Griot's Spray-On Car Wash, but only on a surface that's already free of salt and larger dirt particles, and only with two premium microfiber cloths--one soaked and dripping with the product and the other to gently dry the surface. All other car finish cleaning that I do is with old-fashioned soap and water.
  24. Do we need to open Dox Carwash again this weekend so you guys can clean your rides with soap and water in a 65 degree garage?
