  1. A lot of you have been asking when I'm going to host the meet I promised to have at the new garage in Delaware. I had been hoping for a warm Saturday in March or April without a conflict with other events. This Saturday it's forecast to reach 70 in the afternoon but is expected to be overcast and drop into the high 40's in the evening. I want to hold off for better weather -- I'm tired of standing around freezing at meets! I also haven't picked up my second JDM car yet although it's in Canada and ready to be driven here. I wanted to have both of them on hand for you to see. So, if you'll bear with me, I'll try to make it worth the wait. There is still a plan for free food, music, a number of rare cars committed to show, even a mobile dyno is tentatively scheduled at either a reduced rate or free. Quite a few CR sponsors plan to bring cars, as have two local high-line dealerships. It will be on an upcoming Saturday from 3 until 8, with food from 5 to 6:30. I'm not going to announce it until the Thursday before -- theory being that a two-day forecast for good weather is better than just a guess. It will NOT be this weekend or next weekend (NTR auto-x). So, watch Meetings & Events for the announcement. As always, you're always welcome to drop by and use the space for working on/cleaning cars. I have no lifts and very limited tools, but otherwise it is accomodating. Phone me first 740-405-5565. I'm nearly always around Thursday through Sunday.
  2. Welcome. Great looking veedub. Hard to beat red & black. Undecided on the chrome mirrors ...... but if you like 'em, that's all that matters. Hope to see you out at some meets.
  3. Welcome, John. Any mods to the car?
  4. Honk @ the door -- I've got the music cranked.
  5. If you happen to do the River Road drive (up SR 257 from the zoo towards Prospect) you're welcome to use my garage as a pit stop (water, restrooms, sodas). I'll be working here all afternoon. I'm on the south edge of Delaware, less than a mile from JEGS, just off US 42. Phone me if you need directions. 740-405-5565 Carpe diem!
  6. You should never have told I didn't want the other Century street racers around Columbus to know what I got ......
  7. I saw it at Brian's and I have to admit, it looked a lot better in person than in the picture. I wish you many clear roads and sunny days.
  8. Good results? That 2nd pull clearly established that my car is putting down more ponies than any other Toyota Century in this area. Brian even said that it was the most powerful Toyota Century he's ever seen.
  9. Very sorry to hear the news. However, the cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence. My Mother was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in August of 1971. Two surgeons confirmed that she wouldn't live until Christmas of that year. She had surgery and they tried to fight the cancer with primitive radiation treatments to extend what time she had left and perhaps provide some pain relief. She died from heart failure in 2007 at age 86, having outlived the two surgeons, three subsequent primary care doctors, and two oncologists. No one knows the future. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. Take care.
  10. I guess I need a lot more help than most For all things Toyota: TE7two Advice: AJ, BIGGU, DynoBrian Lending a hand: ND2RACE, Starkmaster03, wonderboy, Jeffro, Thorne When a professional shop is needed, it's hard to beat CR sponsors. I've been helped by Pickups Plus, WheelMedic, SloMo and IPS. I'm sure there are others that are great, too, I just haven't had the opportunity to use them. Some speciality stuff needs to come from the dealer. MAG has a mechanic who works exclusively on Lotus and Aston. Mike Smith at Crown is the only one who works on the Benz now. Nobody knows car detailing like TSC17. I'm grateful that CR has put me in touch with so much talent and knowledge.
  11. Umm, well, actually, she was planning on sneaking out and joining us after you nodded off Farkas 1 & 2 and Jeffro are planning on showing up, too. Tell Ashley we'll be at a booth in the back.
  12. Ashley sends a text to us after you eat so that we can avoid having you show up and ruin things.
  13. I see many of you will need my services. My business card http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/two-sided.jpg
  14. Touche. I admit I don't understand the Harley thing. I like buying American, I like Willie G and Nancy (met them a few years ago), I like a brand with some heritage to it. Yet, it's amazing to me how little you get for your dollar when you buy Harley vs. the rest of the world's bikes. Even Victory seems like a better deal to me. When I'm out of state on my bike, and I stop at a rest area, I've found riders of all brands to be very friendly and helpful except for Harley riders, who seldom will even speak to anyone not riding a Harley. So many of the Harley owners I know ride back and forth to the bar, or ride on a poker run, or ride to QSL on bike night, but do precious little riding beyond that. Yeah, some go on Interstate vacations once a year for a week when they rack up a few miles, but so many put only a couple thousand miles on their bikes a year yet at every opportunity they wear biker gear as if they were in a biker gang. I admit, I don't get it. But that's why so many different brands and styles of bikes are successful, I guess.
  15. Just my opinion, though ...... http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/harleys.jpg
  16. So ..... what's the other car you're buying?
  17. Congrats, Boss. The 24th promises to be all kinds of fun.
  18. You'd be welcome, John. Maybe next time I'll plan ahead a bit. I'm leaving for the garage now to get the 999 ready. I won't be online before this happens, so call the cell with questions: 740-405-5565
  19. Yeah, it's last minute, but I'm looking at a small window of nice motorcycle weather today. Warm temps between noon and 5 p.m., but after 3 p.m. clouding up and a chance for rain. I'll be riding a black Ducati. I'll be at the corner of Glick Road (the road that goes across O'Shannassy Dam) and SR 257 (Riverside Drive), parked on the east side of the road just south of the entrance to the Columbus Zoo, at that abandoned building that I think used to be the Wyandot Inn. I plan to leave from there at noon today, ride back roads along the river up to around Prospect, then back track, stop at my garage south of Delaware if anyone needs a potty break, then south around Alum Creek and finish at Polaris Sonic. I imagine we'll be back to Sonic by 2:30 p.m. Questions? Call my cell 740-405-5565. If you drive your car, you gotta promise not to hit any of the bikes. Carpe diem!
  20. Yeah, sorry about that. I called the cops and gave them your description ..... just felt it was my civic duty. I hope you learned your lesson.
  21. not your fault. And, it was handy having the reports from the other "meeting places" around town. Things were moving around from place to place too fast to get any large numbers together anywhere. BTW, thanks Phil for tipping us off about them running plates last night at Polaris Sonic. None of us needed any of that action. I imagine tonight will be a repeat .... maybe a few more cars out with the temp being slightly better.
  22. Got to QSL at 8:10, but no CR folks Hooked up with some friends who were going to see F&F, but the 9 pm show sold out. Chased ricers from Krogers to QSL to Sonic and back again. Ran into Phil & company, Benner, ImUrOBGYN. Texted Jeffro back and forth 60 times. Ended up at W. Broad White Castle at 2 a.m. Drove around I-270 performing very scientific tests of torque against a buddy in his new E-55 AMG Ended up giving tours of the new garage at 3:15 a.m., introducing the merry band of survivors to the virtues of the Toyota Century and Drambuie. It just seemed like the right thing to do at that hour.
