  1. They are by far my favorite group. To appreciate them, you need to listen to the songs multiple times. Of course, if their music doesn't appeal to you at first listen, you wouldn't be likely to listen over and over. There's a lot of teenage angst in there, but there's some pretty deep stuff, too. Yet, they've avoided a lot of the gimmicks that make songs popular. I've been to two of their concerts, and they were the best of my life. And yeah, I'm old enough to have seen many of the great bands live.
  2. That movie (Traveller) was from 1997 ..... did you really expect anyone to get the reference? http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af208/trentrbrts/maxresdefault_zpsuxlzylgx.jpg
  3. Yeah, Mike. Wheel Medic is an active sponsor. You can PM them here: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/member.php?u=7642
  4. I'll pass on that one, but looking forward to this, which opens Friday:
  5. Registration closes tomorrow! Your $15 registration fee includes lunch. I've talked to a number of CR members planning to attend but I don't see their names on the roster yet. As Ray mentioned above, show day entry will be very limited. I'll be leaving from the Hangout early on Sunday (think 5:30 a.m.), but others will caravan to Michigan at various times Saturday and Sunday. It's time to get registered and begin planning. Hope to see you there.
  6. Welcome to CR. There's lots of racing and meets still going on around here. I hope to see you out at some of the events. Seems that there is another V8 Beast on here named Brian ....... I'm sure you don't want to be associated with that character.
  7. Why ruin an FR-S? For the price of your LS swap into an FR-S, I'd prolly sell you my 86, which has better balance, prolly more h.p. than your LS, and which reflects a whole lot better taste. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/GT86/GT86-36_zps98a59e6b.jpg
  8. Just a reminder: you need to pre-register to attend this event. There is no entry on the day of the event without prior registration. The $25 fee (per car) includes food and drink. For now, it also includes a t-shirt. The organizer contacted me last night and said there was a lot of interest from Columbus, but not many paid registrations. http://www.midwesttakeover.net
  9. I'll pass those suggestions along. Any other ideas?
  10. I have a friend who has been working on improving/upgrading his car for a few years now. He has rust starting on rocker panels and side skirts and has been looking for an individual or a shop to cut and weld steel. He says he's called quite a few places and can't find anyone to do the work. Body shops used to do this routinely, although I've heard many times, in passing, guys joke that "you can't weld rust." I get that. Can anyone recommend a business or an individual who does this sort of work and would be willing to take a look at what he needs? I've already told him that I doubt that anyone would guarantee rust repairs. He only needs the steel repaired .... he plans painting at another time. Thanks!
  11. We're both just returning this week, and I've been swamped with work. I'll be processing some photos when things ease a bit, and I'm sure Brian will do so as well. I'll make a thread when I can. I drove solo for 5630 miles in 10 days through 16 states and 3 time zones, topped out at 8500 feet, all in a 25-year-old Japanese city car with 53 h.p. and no cruise. No failures (until I got home). More to come on that. Here 's a the first "polished" video I'm aware of. It was compiled by Team Jack from Cincinnati, eight Rally veterans who decided to do the Rally dressed as lumberjacks, complete with full size axes, who competed in an RV. I was amazed that they had the video pretty much finished by the end of the Rally, owing to being able to edit footage while riding in the R.V. Figgy got 3 quick appearances in the video: (probably NSFW)
  12. I'll be attending and I know about a dozen other Columbus guys driving up. I see that Wheel Medic also picked up a major sponsorship for the event, so expect their crew and friends to attend.
  13. Then be prepared to wait another 6 years ...... (V-12 was introduced in 1997 IIRC)
  14. What a hacked-up POS that is. Anyone who would do that to a Century should be shot. A Century isn't intended to be bling, or a party barge. It's a conservative car with understated elegance. Mine: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/11a.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/10a_s.jpg They are built with pride and commitment, largely by hand. Here's a video from about ten years ago:
  15. Thank you, Mike (tdy2kguy). Your donation is much appreciated. Brad (Zx2guy19) and Shaun (cstmg8), thanks so much for the donation of pavers turned into money. It was a very creative way to support Camp Sunshine's work. Farkas, buddy, thanks for the donation and for not giving so much that I would have to put a lemonparty bumper sticker on the car. I've hit $2,695 so far, more than enough to send a child and his/her family to Camp Sunshine for a week's session. I'm in the top twenty fundraisers so far, so I should be starting in the initial group. Some teams do sandbag, though, so I'm not counting on anything yet. CR has consistently been very supportive of the Rally North America charities, and it's much appreciated.
  16. Agreed. The more the merrier. CR has represented well in Rally North America events each year, often with podium finishes. The only rally I recall with 5 teams from CR was Rally Dixie in 2012. Of the five CR teams, these three took the top honors: http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af208/trentrbrts/winners_zpsotooafag.jpg In 2010, CR sent 3 teams to the Route 66 Rally and took the top 3 trophies: http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af208/trentrbrts/trophy%20closeups_zpsvh5exlem.jpg http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af208/trentrbrts/cherokee%20inn_zpsun2dykmr.jpg including 1st place overall in the East Coast Division. :fuckyeah:
  17. That's a good deal. It might help folks to know that it fits a 2" square receiver. GLWS
  18. Thanks, Chandler (Robochan). The registration's open on the fall rally--you and Ant should field a team. Four states in a Fri-Sat-Sun, you both can do that. https://www.rallynorthamerica.com/rallies/ohio-valley-700-fall-2016/
  19. Thanks, Mike. There are just a few days left before I head off to the Rally, which begins in Billings, Montana. I'm going to try to wrap up the fundraising this Wednesday, so if you still want to get in on this very worthwhile cause, please go to the link in the first post of this thread to donate. Team Figaro has moved up into the top 20 teams (barely), and I'm at 57% of my goal to raise $2,500 to send one family to Camp Sunshine. Figgy has been making the rounds to the meets last night and today, showing off the sponsor decals. Two of the latest: http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af208/trentrbrts/Big%20Sky%20Rally/Jet%20sticker%20left_zpssshyf9bs.jpg http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af208/trentrbrts/Big%20Sky%20Rally/Jet%20sticker%20right_zpsqgbhkup7.jpg Thanks again, Jordan from Jet Auto. Wheel Medic's logos make for nice opera windows: http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af208/trentrbrts/Big%20Sky%20Rally/Wheel%20Medic_zpskzomthbp.jpg Thanks to Hanna, Bryce, and the whole crew for the donation, the help with the wheels & tyres, the trunk mods, and last minute decal production.
  20. Great car, Jim. Great article, Brian.
  21. My thanks to my friend Jordan (2highpsi) and his company, Jet Auto Group for a big "commercial-sized" donation to Camp Sunshine. CR's generosity has put Team Figaro at 45% of its goal. Overall, the Rally's 80 teams have raised $80,000 so far on this year's goal. My starting position is 24th as of now. If I can, by the end of the fundraising, be in the top 20 fundraisers, I'll be in the first staging group. :fuckyeah:
  22. Jim (clone), thank you for your steadfast support of the Rallies and their charities. Bob (DTA09), I appreciate your generosity. CR has come through so far with a dozen individual contributors to Team Figaro. I'm 35% on my goal of $2,500. I chose to set $2,500 as my team goal because that pays for one week at Camp Sunshine for one child and his family. It's possible to provide all that support and programming for that amount because the Camp relies on hundreds of volunteer staff in addition to the paid staff.
  23. I don't know the precise cutoff, but I'm asking for the donations to be made by July 6 so that I get my end of things wrapped up before I leave Ohio. Again, thanks for your generosity and thoughtfulness.
  24. Very generous of you. Thanks for thinking of Camp Sunshine and the Rally.
