Yep, it's a bit nippy, but clear and dry. See you all soon.
-
Sorry about that, Alex. No one asked until late. Yes, I can open it Saturday night if four or more people plan to show. Tonight it was mostly Need For Speed 7. Anthony left it at the Hangout, so it's available to use if people want. I also have a dozen or so car-related Blu-rays there.

I realize that this is last minute, but I just had some CR members text me to ask if I'd open the Hangout. So, if you're just knocking around tonight, feel free to stop by. If you're a Hangout Virgin, there's Foosball, 55" screen with XB360 ready to go, Forza 4 with wheel/pedal simulator setups, Forza Horizon. Heated shop area for work on your car, but only basic tools available and no lifts. Please do not bring alcohol or drugs on the premises. A good variety of non-alcoholic drinks are provided free. You're welcome to poke around my cars, but don't expect a museum experience. Stay as late as you want. Restrooms are on-site. Your parked cars are within eyesight. The front door will open at 10:00 p.m. The hangout is smoke-free, but you can smoke in the garage (police your own butts) or smoke right outside the front door and use the smokers' station. Please do not throw butts in the parking lot or in the shrubbery. In case you haven't been there, here are directions: Howald Industrial Park 320 London Road, Suite 101 (in Building 100) OPEN sign in window Delaware, Ohio (across from the intersection of London Road & Liberty Road) the place is 14 miles north of Home Depot/Sawmill it is 1.5 miles from the large Jegs Warehouse at Route 42 and London Road If you are coming from Columbus, it's easy to just go north on US 23 to the first Delaware exit (South Sandusky Street, exit to the left but turn right on Sandusky St., then go about a mile and turn left onto London Road at the McDonalds. The place will be on your right just after the Delco Drive Through. If you are coming from Sawmill, go directly north on Sawmill Road until it ends at the Hyatts Road Roundabout. Turn right (east) on Hyatts Road, go into the village of Hyatts, turn left (north) on Liberty Road. Liberty road dead ends at the industrial park (turn left onto London Road, then immediately right, into the park). Questions/problems: Text me at 740-405-5565. Hope to see you out tonight!

I'll be there early and with a guest interested in joining CR. I hope people bring out their sharp cars, although I imagine the cold will keep the numbers low. BTW, the date in the thread title is wrong.

Your link doesn't go to the associated video anymore, but I'm guessing you're talking about this: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115394

It was great having the place open again and filled with peeps. I'm going to have to take a disco nap next time ...... I hated to kick you all out at 1:00 a.m. but I was supremely tired. -
It sounds pretty ambitious, but I know you're dauntless. I look forward to seeing it finished.

Also, if you're new to the place, as you come back the main drive into the Industrial Park, the Hangout is in the first building, and there will be an OPEN sign in the front window. Park in front of the building. -

Don't forget a bike cover and battery tender if you have them. Yours is the only one without them. -
The forecast is for mostly cloudy skies, 45 degrees and windy. Sounds like routine November weather to me The amazing part is that a bunch of us will be willing to get out of bed early on a weekend and stand outside for three hours in that weather.

Chad, I take it from what you've written that this work would be incompatible with National Guard service ... am I correct?

I think I'll be interested at some point in having a 3' x 20' print for the long wall at the Hangout. I've been talking about starting to collect car/meet pics to do a CR collage. This sounds like the perfect opportunity to start it.

Many of you have met my friend, Steve Ulfelder, author and co-founder of Flatout Motorsports. He has asked me to see if anyone here would be interested in his personal car. He's racing only 2-3 weekends a year now, and since he also has access to the company race cars, he feels it makes no sense to keep this one. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/s2kb_zps24a1afc9.jpg For sale in Massachusetts: Honda S2000 built by Flatout Motorsports (http://www.flatout-motorsports.com) for SCCA ITR competition. Best of everything, no compromises. Very fast, well sorted. Price: $40,000 OBRO. Duplicating the build would cost $100K+. Trust me. About all I can say for a sell job is that this is a turnkey rocket - comfortable to drive, corners better than anything else in ITR. Whatever part of the country you're in, this is a ticket to the sharp end of the IT pack. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/s2kd_zps5973eaaa.jpg For more info, call Nick Leverone at Flatout (508-966-0447) or email Steve: steve@ulfelder.com. Specs • Model-year 2000 donor with 2-liter engine. Donor was a 48K-mile creampuff. Car has never been crashed. Rare, expensive factory hardtop. • Rotisserie build. Stripped to a tub, painted gray underneath and inside, sound deadening removed. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/s2kc_zpsf15a0362.jpg • Engine is freshly rebuilt (has 1 race on it); Haltech ECU; 4:44 final drive with LSD; carbon-fiber intake; Buddy Club header/exhaust. Dyno sheets available. • Full Race Technology data acquisition (DL-1 Mk2 with Video4 and 2-camera setup). http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/s2ka_zps645e6a27.jpg • Koni 2812 aluminum double-adjustable shocks; spherical bearings all around; custom front swaybar. • 4 sets of Enkei rims; 2 sets Hoosier dries in OK condition; 1 set Toyo intermediates; 1 set Hoosier H2O wets. The Toyos and Hoosier wets are basically new. • RaceTech head-restraint seat (on sliders - plenty of room for tall drivers) ; 6-point Schroth HANS-compatible harness; brake bias control; Momo quick-release wheel; Wink mirror; radio box and PTT setup; Cool Shirt setup; 2-nozzle fire-suppression setup plus fire bottle in cockpit. • Koyo aluminum radiator, custom Fluidyne oil cooler. Here is the build thread from December, 2009: http://www.improvedtouring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27127 Here is a two-part in-car video of racing at Lime Rock: If you know of anyone you think might have an interest in this, please let them know the contact info. Thanks!

Joe, I actually like that look. There were two BMW 7 series (of different years) done in chrome wrap at Import Alliance last summer, and they were impressive in person. Does anyone know how long the wrap lasts? Does it scuff? Can you just take it through a regular car wash? Do you seal it with a finish periodically? If you started with good paint and then applied the wrap, does the wrap over time ruin the paint underneath it?

After C&C this morning, there's a car show and dyno day in Zanesville. I think it would make a great drive to shoot out there on I-70, then find our way down 555 or take US 22 back in the afternoon.

It's got a lot more features than I'll ever utilize, but I grew used to the filters of the original CS, and software such as Lightroom and Photoshop Premier Elements don't have a lot of the features I use. Also, fewer and fewer platforms will seamlessly handle the .mrw format (Minolta RAW) that my Maxxim7D shoots. I didn't have very good luck with using the conversion plug-ins with other software, and of course Konica no longer supports the Minolta formats. Having the Minolta, I can begin to understand how Saab owners feel. One of the few advantages to being on college faculties is that you get great discounts on software for personal/home use. OSU also gives you access to the Adobe Creative Cloud, which has twenty software products: http://wiredout.osu.edu/FileStore/PDFs/Adobe%20sheet%20fall%208-13%20web%20(2).pdf If I didn't have those discounts, I couldn't justify the price either.

Sorry I missed ya. Brought out the ol' SLR and a tripod. Got a few shots there at Sawmill to play with in Photoshop CS6 Extended (trying for the first time).
-
Didn't see any photographers from 9:20 to 10:30, but about 10 cars gradually rolled in. Looks to me like it's dead until spring.
-
That sounds like fun. And, I need some recent 8x10 glossies for my updated C.V.

I see it made it to "Bring A Trailer," so I imagine it will sell quickly now. http://bringatrailer.com/2013/11/07/gran-turismo-six-1988-toyota-soarer-twin-turbo/
