  1. That, in itself, should have tipped you off that it wasn't me driving.
  2. Sounds more like choosing a wife than choosing a car ..... But you're certainly entitled to my own opinion
  3. Cool car for sure. Investment? If maintained properly and kept decades, perhaps an investment. But remember, just because it's rare doesn't make it valuable.
  4. Thanks, Rob. I appreciate the deal. Mods can lock this thread.
  5. It's actually a favor to me for people to be willing to help. We did this a few years back at Street Life Tour at Kilkare and had a good time.
  6. Haha. No, they aren't entered in the car show. All but the FRSBRZGT86FT86 have already taken a First in Class at IFO anyways. This is just a display for fun. I think Packie's Soarer will get the most attention in the display anyway. I just wish he'd gone ahead and got NOT DOX as his plate.
  7. I can get four CR members into Import Face Off on Sunday, April 27 for free, but you gotta help move cars. The organizers asked me to display five of my cars (plus BIGGU is bringing his Soarer) at the show and I've agreed, weather permitting. Problem is this: I've got to get them all from Delaware to National Trail Raceway early Sunday morning and then back to Delaware Sunday night. We need to leave from Delaware by 8:00 a.m., and return would be around 7 p.m. You'd have no duties at the show, and they will waive the $20 admission fee for you. If you bring a significant other, I'll pay that person's show admission also. Plus side: you get into the show for free, you save gas money, you drive an exotic an hour each way Negatives: you need to get to Delaware early Sunday morning (maybe carpool to Delaware?), can't leave the show early, can't drive like a tool. I can use 30 minutes' worth of your time to help with car dusting/glass cleaning when we arrive at the show. If you're interested and can make a firm commitment, I need to submit the names by April 18th. Let me know your car preference. I'll drive what's leftover. Toyota Century (RHD, automatic) Toyota Celica GT-Four WRC (RHD, left hand shift 5 speed) Mitsuoka Viewt (RHD, CVT tranny) Bentley Continental Flying Spur (LHD, automatic) Toyota GT86 (LHD, 6 speed) All have A/C. No food/drink/smoking in the cars. I'll make a list of drivers/car preferences, but I'll need a back-up list as well, as my experience has shown that people bail-out for various reasons in the 11th hour. Post here to the thread or PM me. Thanks! http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/8_zps98d746b8.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/L1_3_HR_zpsbe673520.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/9_zps0e14bd18.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/92_zpsdcebadca.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/smallGT86_zps83f9f342.jpg

  9. I hate it when I get a blockage. May the Force (or pressure, or whatever) be with you ..... always.
  10. Sounds like you've solidified the water table. You'll need to sell the property or else have water trucked in permanently. Sorry, bro. I guess CR wasn't the best place to get advice on treating home wells. :gabe:
  11. Although I agree with most of that, keep in mind that many people would put chains on their tires on snowy days and people who had a lot of winter driving to do used steel-studded snow tires. I wouldn't say the average Ohio driver "got along fine" in the snow in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's with their stock setups.
  12. Hmmmm. In the 30 second video tour of the car, the word "potent" is used twice. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/confused0006.gif Probably not significant. On a serious note, you seem very taken by this model of car. I know that feeling. I fell in love with a new Carrera 4 Cabriolet, kept it less than 6 months and took a terrible hit on selling it because I fell out of love with it so quickly. Granted, they are different cars, and mine wasn't the Turbo. Mine seemed more and more like a go cart to me the more I drove it. I was disappointed with the cheap interior and poor ergonomics. I grew bored with the handling. Years later, when I bought a Lotus, I realized that this was the car I thought I was getting when I bought the Porsche. I've never cared for Porsche since then. I can't be critical of Porsche fans because they see something in their cars that I don't (or maybe I refuse to). Perhaps I don't have the skill and knowledge to appreciate the finer points of a Porsche. We're fortunate that we can choose from such a variety of cars. If you want this, get it. If you do, I hope it brings you more joy and pride in ownership than mine gave me.
  13. No problem, Kevin. You're welcome to use any of my cars anytime.
  14. Kevin's the only one I trust to do body/paint work on any of my cars and bikes. He did the Viewt makeover (spectacular!), and has done my cafe bike, the GT4 WRC, the Mercedes, and my best car, the Buick. After 4 years, the Viewt paint still looks like new: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Viewt%20stickered%20for%20Rally/paint.jpg
  15. Good interview of a really great man. CR is really fortunate to have superstars of the sport like Ray as members.
  16. It's my favorite jacket. Warm and durable, plenty of pockets.
  17. It probably wouldn't have an effect on your turnout, but the Ohio Mile Spring event is May 3-4. I'll try to catch your next show. Nearly impossible to find the "perfect" weekend with no other major events.
  18. Matt, Welcome to CR. Very nice car and good intro. I hope to see you at some CR events and track days this year. + rep
  19. You know you're always welcome. :grin2: Just let me know if you need a bay heated up (they are usually 45 degrees but can be brought up to 60 with advance notice) and whether you need cleaning equipment. I'm almost always there in the daytime on weekends. On Fridays and Saturdays it's always open if four or more CR members confirm that they're coming. Usually it opens at 9 or 10 at night and closes around 2 a.m.
  20. Even if the dealer agreed to that, I would be concerned that they would spray so much de-odorizer in it that you couldn't stand THAT smell (e.g., Pina Colada, Strawberry, Lavender). If you decide to get the car and you decide later it has even a hint of smell, just bring it to the Hangout and we'll give it the Ozone treatment. I've even got cigar smell out of a car with an Ozone treatment preceeded by a shampoo of all the car fabrics such as carpet. If there's a fabric headliner, it needs a dry cleaning to remove smoke smells. If the dog smell is only lightweight now, I doubt that you'd need more than a carpet shampoo + Ozone.
  21. I'd like to go to your show again this year, but I've already committed to be at IFO.
  22. Wheel Medic has done really good work for me on bike and car parts. If you tell Bryce that you're on CR he can usually discount your price.
  23. As the adage goes, be careful what you wish for ......
  24. Welcome to my world. Although I'm pretty quick with the math conversion, I still find myself sneaking a peak at my Garmin display for mph when I've got the nav on in the cars. Great find. You've got all the best toys!
