  1. Since Tian Fu has a pretty small fan base, I'll go ahead and call it for Wholly Joe's, because there's pizza, chicken tenders, sandwiches, and lots of sides. 7:30 Wholly Joe's 9:30 Hangout If you order Chicago-style deep dish pizza, I suggest you call in advance to place the order, because it takes a while. Menu, address, other info here: http://whollyjoes.com/
  2. Yeah, it's pretty good. They didn't change the decor at all, service and food were both good. It's called Generations. I think the prices might be a little steep for some people on here. Also, it isn't going to be able to seat a group bigger than 6. I had a filet mignon there and they did a good job of grilling it "Pittsburgh rare" as I requested. https://www.facebook.com/GenerationsFineFoodandSpirits
  3. other food ideas: Quaker Steak @ Polaris pizza/sandwiches @ Wholly Joe's on Polaris Jimmy Johns now has a Delaware store (subs) Five Guys on US 23 North Blue Ginger on Sawmill
  4. Saturday the Hangout will be closed because I'm going to see a band and won't be in town to open the place. Tonight (Friday) 7:30 Wholly Joe's 9:30 Hangout If you order Chicago-style deep dish pizza, I suggest you call in advance to place the order, because it takes a while. 5. This thread drives the point home to me that it's "no country for old men" as the saying goes. When I was growing up, many adults told me stories about my father, how he helped them, how he was a great man, an honest man, how he was someone you could count on without reservation. He was a businessman who closed deals with a handshake, not a contract drawn up by a lawyer. A prominent man who had known my father since WWII once told me that my father's word was NOT as good as gold ...... it was better than gold, ".....because the price of gold fluctuates," he said with a smile. My father taught me that if a cashier made a mistake and gave me too much change, I needed to return the overage. "If you don't, you just found out how cheaply your integrity can be bought." To the best of my knowledge, Dad never lied to a salesman to get a better price, he never made a fuss and went "up the ladder" to get freebies, and he never found a price for his integrity. And I can tell you that his life was filled with more true friends and good will than any amount of money could buy. I just wish I could be more like my Dad.
  6. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/rules.gif Please post a price.
  7. How well I know that feeling. Congrats!
  8. And I only see 3 for the hangout, so it'll be dark tonight. Will open Saturday night if there's enough interest. Stay warm!
  9. I can open the Hangout after supper if there will be four or more people who want to come out. Last week it started slow with only 3, but a dozen turned out later. Post here if you plan to go to the hangout so I can announce an opening. Or not.
  10. I was out in that and it really sucked. I had to slow down to 80. Damned Ohio weather.
  11. There's about as much chance of me getting an F12 as there is Paul M. wanting to talk to me again. And I'm not exactly heartbroken over that. That asshat's intro thread sure disappeared from here fast.
  12. Glad to see all the original photos made it. Placed my order. Thanks, Tina, for all you had to go through to do this.
  13. Well the reason I asked if there were any Ferrari fanboys here in central Ohio was the same as when I asked in previous threads, e.g., the Lambo test drives and the Bentley reception at Eddie Merlot's. I got an invitation to the unveiling of this new model and although I'm not in the market to buy it, I thought some true fans might want to see it, get in it, talk to the factory guys about it, score some literature, and hobnob with some prospective buyers. I've got four takers on my offer already. (It's invitation-only, and I can't swing more than four guests on my invitation.) If you want to be on a backup list, post to the thread, and if someone has to drop out, I'll give you a heads-up. Here's a brief "first drive" video: ( We'll post photos to this thread after the event.
  14. That's correct. I don't see one in my future for a number of reasons, price being the first. PM's sent to the fans. More to come later.
  15. Do we have any central Ohio fans of the 2013 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta? http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Ferrari-F12-Berlinetta-front-three-quarters_zpsc0aef0a1.jpg I have a good reason for asking ..............
  16. Okay, here's the latest info from the auctioneer: There will be a preview the day before the auction. Check the website for the times (not decided as of right now). On Saturday there is a sale from the same estate which contains accessories and ammo. Again, check the website I gave in my first post of the thread. The auction was advertised on Facebook (400 views), Auction.zip (18,000 hits), on the auctioneer's website, and in the local newspaper. That's all I know as of now. If there is other information made available to me, I'll post it.
  17. Those are good questions, but it's hard to predict the future. Thursday+poor area+bad economy+no out of state sales > current gun enthusiasm ? Your guess is as good as mine The link I gave connects you to a listing and also to photos. Here are the photos: http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/photopanel.cgi?listingid=1673844&category=0&zip=&kwd= The Elks City Club is at 544 4th Street in Portsmouth. The address and a map are in the link I gave in the original post. Like so many private clubs with meeting areas, the Elks rent out their hall to the public for events. Yes, the auction is open to the public. IIRC, this is not a HUGE room, so if there's a big turnout, it will be crowded. I don't want to bother him on a Sunday, but tomorrow I'll call Norm and ask him about the advertising. He and I already discussed how this could be a place for bargains or could be a zoo with bidding fever driving all the prices sky high. I'll post what he tells me.
  18. 90 miles from downtown Columbus, go directly south on US 23 I would leave 2 hrs before you want to arrive. You go through the towns of Waverly and Lucasville, which slow you down. Also, you'll need some time once you're in Portsmouth, although the Elks is only about 10 blocks west of US 23.
  19. The Hangout will open at 9:30 p.m. All CR members are welcome. 320 London Road Building 100 (look for the lit OPEN sign) Delaware, OH
  20. The seller wishes to remain anonymous. The collection belonged to her late husband. The auctioneer is Norm Allen, a friend of mine.
  21. A friend of mine contacted me and told me he was selling a firearm collection of 185 firearms collected over a 50-year period. The auction will include accessories such as gun cabinets, safes, holsters and the like. It will be a no-reserve auction held at the Elks City Club in Portsmouth. A complete listing of the firearms and photos can be found here: http://www.auctionzip.com/OH-Auctioneers/39637.html I'm guessing some prices may run wildly high, but then again, there isn't an overabundance of cash in Scioto County right now, and out-of-state sales aren't allowed, so there may be some bargains. Enjoy browsing!
  22. Don't hold back ..... let it out ..... tell us how you really feel. :lolguy:
  23. maybe less so the "build a raft" part :lolguy: You guys are soooooooo last millennium.
  24. I'm still willing to buy. I actually told a few people I would give them one as a gift, so I'm still ready to buy 4-6 of them even if they don't become available until February.
  25. Barring some last minute groundswell for opening, the Hangout will be dark tonight. See you all next weekend. Be safe!
