  1. Ditto on no obnoxious music, and ditto on the audio volume being a little hard to hear. This looks amazing to me though. I was always wondering how a car body/shell would mount onto a tube chassis. I guess I'll have to wait for the future video to find out how you dealt with the wheelbase discrepancy. I hate cliff hangers. It's probably been discussed a while ago, but how did you line the body up on the chassis? Is it based on windshield location, roof line, rear wheels? Obviously not front wheels since they did not line up.
  2. Facebook marketplace is the only site that has generated any hits on my F250. Craigslist was a complete waste of $5. Only thing I got for my $5 was scammers wanting me to purchase their vehicle history reports.
  3. Just checked the OSU schedule for this date. OSU is playing Mich St. at 7:30pm. With awards at 2:00 you can hang out for the full show and still make it to your tailgate location well before game time.
  4. Whatever you do, don't take it to Sean at Northend Wrench or Austin at Lucore. Those guys have no idea what they're doing.
  5. I assume whatever KBB private party value is you could write off as a donation.
  6. I get bored with hobbies. I enjoy my job too much and make too much money to do anything else, so new hobbies are the thing for me. My 3D printer tied up a year or so with upgrades and getting it to work the way I want. I made the mistake of going shooting with Bob Brayer, and caught the bug for long range shooting, that led to the hobby of reloading ammunition. Home brewing beer, carpentry, etc... Back in the day it was flying RC gliders and racing RC boats. My latest hobby will take me back into carpentry, I bought a CNC router. The big problem lately is finding time to work on the car and go racing. I guess I should add, that it's not the destination that is important, but the journey. I know it's corny, but I do believe it. I love learning new things. You do too, otherwise you never would have reached the level of expertise you did. Now it's time to learn something else.
  7. Bump, Craigslist has been worthless, nothing but scammers wanting me to purchase a vehicle history report other than a Carfax. My price is flexible, come see the truck, test drive it and we'll negotiate.
  8. Not to thread jack, but I just looked up the Aladdin Genie on Amazon and it's $50. I checked camelcamelcamel and that is the lowest price it's ever sold for on amazon.
  9. I posted my diesel truck hoping that the 5$ price would help with the garbage. All I got from it was contacts that wanted me to use a scam vehicle history report.
  10. The Opti was a big fault of the engine, but it's also the red headed step child of the GM line. Once the LS series motors started coming out most everything for the LT1 went by the way side. There is a fix for the opti which basically makes it coil per plug just like the LS motors, but the last time I priced it the cost was astronomical. Far more expensive than a junkyard 5.3 with all the trimmings. It's simply easier to make power with an LS than it is with an LT. That being said, there are some REALLY good deals on LT1 motors because nobody wants them. It doesn't sound like your horsepower requirements are really high, so it might fit the bill. Personally I love my LT1, but I wouldn't swap one into anything. The LS has far more aftermarket support, and frankly is a better engine. Next question would be how your car would handle with an iron block? Or do you need the aluminum block to keep the balance of the car.
  11. I was just thinking to myself ... isn't there something else going on this weekend?
  12. Several of you have been out to our school for the car and craft show the past 2 years. We're gearing up for the third year of the show. I'd like to start giving out a club award for the most well represented club at the show. Show is October 5th, so mark your calendars now. We have the registration site up. Pre-registration is $12, on the day of the show registration will be $15. https://carshowpro.com/event/424 Gates open at 8:00 Registration from 8:00 until 11:00 Judging from 11:00 until 1:00 Awards at 2:00 Our culinary program will be selling food and drinks. If anyone is interested in a space at the craft show let me know and I'll get back with you on how to register a space at the craft show. Also, we are looking for show sponsors. Business sponsors will have their logo put on the car show website. We will thank sponsors multiple times during the show over the PA system. Sponsors can have some space in the car show lot if they would like a presence at the show. The school will provide documentation of your sponsorship donation for tax purposes. If anyone is interested in being a show sponsor PM me and we'll discuss options. Thanks guys. I'll post more info as I have it. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1026&pictureid=9136
  13. I'm going to take a little different view here. I am a husband, but only a step-dad. I don't have kids of my own. I see a lot of parents (particularly moms) declare that the kid comes first at the expense of all else. I really don't agree with this. I believe for the most part that a good home will benefit a child. If you put the kid first in everything and your partner first in nothing it will strain the relationship. Do it long enough and the partner may stray or outright find someone else. They are your partner in this. They matter too. Take care of your partnership and you'll always have someone there to help. You're not in this alone, don't alienate the one that can help. As for who to save first. I'll go with the air mask on the airline example. Parents want to save the child above all else. That's an admirable sacrifice, and one that most parents would make. But it's sometimes dumb. Put your own air mask on first. You cannot save your child while you're slumped over in the seat unconscious. If you help your partner first before helping the child, now there are two of you to save the child. Maybe I misunderstood the question though. If I were faced with a situation where my wife had to choose between saving me and saving one of her kids, I would tell her to save the kid. I'll make that choice for her.
  14. Dropping the price $1000. Will be dropping the price on the public ads in a day or two. Original post reflects the new price.
  15. Based on Scott finding out the heat range is 3 for these. It looks like I'll probably go with the AR3924 Shorty Spark Plug: No Resistor: Yes Manufacturer Heat Range: 3 Electrode Tip Material: Chromium nickel alloy Electrode Core Material: Copper Insulator Type: Projected Spark Plug Thread Size: 14mm Spark Plug Reach: 0.750 in. Spark Plug Seat Style: Gasket Wrench Diameter: 5/8 in. Ground Strap Quantity: One Looks like the only difference is the wrench diameter size changes from 13/16 to 5/8. I don't think that change will be significant. Thanks again for the help folks.
  16. You can grab random sheets at Volunteers of America or most other thrift stores for pretty cheap.
  17. COOL! Thanks! Other good points. Not coil on plug. I believe it is an older MSD Pro-Billet Distributor. New plug wires seems reasonable for this project. Thanks!
  18. No, nothing is using radio waves for signaling, everything is wired. I went back through the instructions and I don't see resistor plugs as a requirement. I have watched a lot of YouTube videos as well and I may have seen it somewhere in there. I assumed they were simply trying to eliminate as much interference as possible. It does not list any specific plug in the installation instructions. I'll have to do some more research and see if my brain is making this all up. It was pretty late last time I was looking through the instructions and videos. Thanks everyone.
  19. I saw that while I was googling around. I figured those would all be direct replacement similar (non-resistor) plugs. I'll scope through some of them and see if any of them are resistor plugs. Thanks.
  20. So Wags and I are getting set to convert the dragster to fuel injection. The instructions call for resistor spark plugs and I've been running non resistor Autolite Racing AR51 plugs in the car and I'm happy with them. As best I can tell there is no resistor version of the AR51. Does anyone have any good resources to sort out an equivalent resistor plug? Here are the specs on the AR51 Shorty Spark Plug: No Resistor: No Electrode Tip Material: Chromium nickel alloy Electrode Core Material: Copper Insulator Type: Projected Spark Plug Thread Size: 14mm Spark Plug Reach: 0.750 in. Spark Plug Seat Style: Gasket Wrench Diameter: 13/16 in. Ground Strap Quantity: One From what I've read online the last digit is the heat range, so I'm assuming 1, so it's a fairly cold plug. For anyone who does not know the car it's an NA big block chevy, high compression running 112 octane. I don't have many more details than that as the motor is effectively the same as when I bought it turn key. The reason I am happy with the AR51s are that they work well, and they are cheap. Something similar would be ideal.
