  1. I'm just bumping this thread to remind people it's still here. We're doing okay. My wife works for a credit union, so she's still into work every day. I'm still teaching from home. I try and stay put as much as possible, but still venture out when there is something I need. I've extended the offer to my elderly neighbors to make grocery runs for them. They don't need to be out and about these days.
  2. Good news. I was able to transfer the title into my name without a weight slip. Also, if anyone needs it, the London Title agency is open, there was no line. The BMV is closed, but for now the title agency is open. I will need a weight slip to register the trailer though, so that's my next step. I thought about registering it commercial, but I have some reservations about that. I'd be a little worried about insurance (e.g. I don't have commercial insurance, would they refuse to pay for a commercial trailer?) Also I'd be worried down the road the government would decide I need a CDL to tow a commercial trailer. Things like that. There is a scale down at SWACO near where I have the trailer stashed anyhow, so a slip should not be a problem.
  3. I heard he was on Joe Rogan's podcast, but I'm not sure where I heard that.
  4. A friend of mine once built a large electrolysis tank with plastic sheeting, tarps, and pallets so he could clean the rust off a car frame. If you're looking for a way to clean that up before you use it that might be an idea.
  5. I picked up a new to me trailer. Right now all the title offices are closed, and I cannot find any details on line about this. I am hearing that I need a weight slip from a scale when I transfer the title to my name. I didn't need one the last time, but I've heard this from a number of people. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone know any details about what is required? I'd rather not make multiple trips to the title office. I assume the lines will be quite long when they open back up, so if I can get it done in one shot that would be great. If it matters the trailer is 28' enclosed, so it's over 4000 lbs.
  6. I've done that before. Basically you're using the switch that is built into the router. You can use the wireless access point portion as well, but I would make sure their on different channels. Like as said before, disable DHCP so you don't have 2 devices handing out addresses on the same network. You will potentially need to change the IP address on one of the routers (from the factory they might have the same address).
  7. It's going to be tough enough to teach for 3 weeks online. If we're out for the rest of the school year this is gonna suck. A lot of online meeting services are offering up free to teachers. I teach a Cisco academy, so I was going to use Webex. I started the process to create my account this morning at 8:00, my account is still not created. I created a Zoom account and set everything up in about half an hour. I'm a little worried that some of these services may not have the resources to support this. Granted, I'm not paying for it, but I also can't have it crapping out in the middle of class. My plan is to continue with my Cisco CCNA curriculum and then transition into Amazon AWS as I get up to speed on that.
  8. A friend of mine is absolutely loosing his mind over this. He actually sent a message in our group text as advice to close family and friends. He said if we felt sick, not to go get tested. That if we did and it was positive they would "jerk us out of our houses". He's a friend, but damn dude. Is your tin foil hat too tight? I interpret this move as emergency services needs help badly.
  9. I hit up Meijer last night for a few things (I was out of deodorant). I was chatting with the girl running the register. She said it was pretty steady all day yesterday until they announced schools would close for 3 weeks, and then it got nuts.
  10. One of the reasons I have stuck with CR and even become a sponsor is how tight knit a group this is. With everything going on and all the shortages we're starting to have, I'm sure there will be members of this community that will be in need of something. Maybe you're out of something you need and can't get, or maybe you're quarantined and can't get out for supplies. Maybe someone lives close and can lend a hand. The one thing I know is we cannot help each other if we don't know what people need. I'd like to see this thread left shit free for people to ask for help if they need it, and for the rest of us to know what the need is. I know most of us are proud, and it hurts to ask for help, but sometimes you need it. No shame, no bullshit. If you need help please feel free to post, and hopefully someone can help out.
  11. Not that it's acceptable, but in their defense they were probably drunk and making stupid decisions anyhow. Most of us have been that way at least once in our lives. Had they been sober they might have realized what time it was and kept the noise down after 10:00.
  12. The Woot T-shirt of the day seems oddly appropriate for anyone who is a Monty Python fan. https://shirt.woot.com/offers/cleanin-up-camelot
  13. I've been asking the same question. My wife came up with the most plausible answer I have heard so far. People are freaking out that they will be quarantined in their home and won't be able to go out for basics. So they are stocking up on everything they cannot live without. Then the sheeple mentality takes over and one person sees other people buying, so they buy, and pretty soon everyone is buying. What I am also hearing it that many places still have TP, it's just the bulk places like Sams and Costco that are out.
  14. It's not just MSN. The WHO just labeled it a pandemic. https://apnews.com/52e12ca90c55b6e0c398d134a2cc286e
  15. I was talking with the Auto Collision instructor about plastic welding the other day. The welder looks like a soldering iron with a slightly curved diamond shape plate to spread out the heat. Apparently the new one has a CO2 generator to provide shielding gas around the weld. It allows you to heat the plastic more without it burning because there is no oxygen. I guess anything that melts it back together will work, but there are definitely some nicer ways of doing it.
  16. I assume it can still track you if GM wants it to, but you cannot access any of the benefits of the system.
  17. Not postponed, but no spectators. https://www.10tv.com/article/athletes-will-compete-arnold-sports-festival-no-spectators-or-expo-over-coronavirus-concerns?fbclid=IwAR0nFkLcPcTpXPcTB63_yIpjCLMu4t7ffxAnIuIa1n94StWW9vMdElfU0Bw
  18. Columbus Brewing Company tap room on Harrison. Normally have a food truck outside. Lineage brewing in Clintonville.
  19. Rod was just on Facebook announcing that they are going to be open this season.
  20. I have a couple thousand rounds of 9mm reloading supplies. Within a day I can have a shit ton of 9mm and 6.5 rounds ready to go. Then I can just pick off other people and take their ramen.
  21. I think they look great! Apparently you were able to get your threading problem sorted out. Out of curiosity, why avoid the prancing moose? I figured that would be one of the coolest things about having a Volvo "racecar".
  22. Just asking out of curiosity here. Assuming you do find something generally rare in the west. How much of a headache are you giving yourself finding parts to maintain it? I know today's shipping infrastructure is far better than it's ever been, but are you going to have to "overnight parts from Japan" every time you need to do a tuneup? Or does it become a consideration to choose a platform that that has some sort of presence here in the US so you're not trying to maintain something truly obscure.
  23. I think Saturday is open for me.
  24. My wife will kill me if I bring home a parts vehicle. But if someone grabs this to part out, I'd be interested in buying any good condition Avalanche specific parts.
