I am Clay’s last car purchase post on CR…
Richard Cranium replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Passing Lane
It isn't just Tesla. I know BMW is planning it, and I've heard other manufacturers are planning it. https://www.thedrive.com/news/34547/bmw-is-planning-to-sell-heated-seats-and-more-as-a-subscription-no-really -
I'm in!

I don't shoot mine much any more because I mostly shoot at a range that is only 100 yards. It's boring that short. Unless you want to try shooting quarters or dimes at that range. At some point I'd like to try and stretch it's legs out to a mile. Once I got dialed in at 1000 yards it was almost boringly automatic.

Nice!

Dr. Flue for Chimney inspection and cleaning. A while back I had called them to schedule an inspection and cleaning of my chimney. A couple days before the appointment we had a large storm come through and a neighbors tree fell and hit my house. On the day of the appointment they showed up right on time. The two employees were clean, professional, and polite. They insisted on wearing paper booties over their work boots even after I told them not to worry about it. They inspected my chimney, and let me know it was good to go and didn't even need cleaned. They did recommend a chimney cap to keep wildlife out. We had chimney swallows at the time. My chimney is not a standard configuration, so they measured and custom ordered a stainless cap. The icing on the cake was that they found an additional hole in my roof I did not know was there. They pulled out a piece of flashing from their truck and slid it under my shingles to close the hole until the roof could be repaired. I have nothing but good things to say about those guys.

MidwayUSA is doing a sale on Vortex Optics right now. Viper PST Gen 2 5-25x is sub $700
-
Ruger Precision Rifle - $1400 Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 - $$800 Leaves you $300 for rings, bipod, etc... Might run you a little more with tax, shipping, ffl, etc... But you can get in the ballpark of $2500. Those prices are from Buds Guns on the RPR and Optics Planet on the Vortex Viper. I have the RPR and love it. I put a Vortex Razor on mine though, that'll blow your budget. If you can take advantage of the military/LEO deal through Vortex you can save a bit of money.

She's still here. Insert "I'm not dead yet" meme from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Guess I'm going to have to figure out Discord. It's been great being a part of this group, I hope the group continues in some way shape or form.

I don't think anyone is going to care about your virgin banana daiquiri, with or without the umbrella.

Yeah, I agree on the hideous. I'm glad they are bringing back the midgate on something. After owning an Avalanche I can't imagine not having that as a feature.

1) Get the Holly Sniper Stealth on the dragster tuned, and turn up the power. The car should run consistent 8.0 quarters, I want to get back to that. 7.90 wouldn't hurt my feelings even a little. 2) Get the 6.0 LQ4 together and the T56 into the '95 Z28. 3) New to me daily driver. The Civic is at 275,000 miles and starting to rust out. Thinking maybe a Honda Fit.

Soft opening CR meet?

Yes, there is an Oculus specific cord. Last I looked it was like $70. I don't use one of those, I use a generic USB C 3.1 cord. On my video card I have a USB C 3.1 port, so that's what I connect the oculus to. You'll have to see what options he has to connect. The port on the quest is a USB C, but he may not have that available on his PC. Here is a link to the oculus cable. https://smile.amazon.com/Oculus-Virtual-Reality-Headset-Cable-Gaming/dp/B081SHD773/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=oculus+link+cable&qid=1640950034&sprefix=oculus+link%2Caps%2C67&sr=8-4 You can get a USB A to USB C cable if he doesn't have a C port on his PC. Just make sure the standard is at least USB 3 or 3.1 I would look at the Amazon reviews though and see what people are saying about the cord with an Oculus. I bought one of the cheaper cords up front ($20) and it didn't work for long. Just don't buy a cheap cable, it probably won't work. I recommend buying one with a 90 degree end so it doesn't stick straight out. Another option that might work would be wireless tethering. There is an app called Oculus desktop ($20). It was a little tricky to get it running wireless, but if you have fast strong wifi where he is using the oculus that might work for you as well.

I have the quest 2 and love it. I personally don't see many drawbacks to it. You can spend a shit ton on games, but I don't, and I don't think you need to. I really like the fact that it's dual purpose, so it can be stand alone or tethered. If the PC isn't up to the task he can still play stand alone until he can upgrade his video card. I have an older 1070ti and it does just fine. The only thing I do with it tethered is iRacing, everything else is stand alone. I was curious about watching 3d movies, so I picked up the Avatar 3D version and converted it to run on the headset. The process wasn't terrible, and it does work pretty well. When you guys are traveling he could download movies onto the headset and sit in the back seat and zone out. I don't know if he is someone who would get into VR chat, but I'm not sure that would be a super good idea. I've heard it can be pretty fun, but I've also heard it can get pretty raunchy and sometimes downright nasty.

Forwarded the ad to a friend of mine. With truck prices today I'm surprised you still have this.

https://powersports.honda.com/street/minimoto/navi Base Price $1800. Yeah, you have fees/tax/title/tags on top of that. But they are less than $1900 new. I might have to consider one for the trailer to take to the track. The minibike is okay, but this would be way better. Was thinking about a Honda Rukus, but the Navi is interesting.

I always enjoy learning new things. Hence my having WAY too many hobbies. $1000 is a good start at just about anything. Whatever I chose to spend it on I would try to make it something to enrich myself or make myself better/happier. You could blow it on a TV, but that's just an excuse to sit around and do nothing. Pick something you're interested in and learn more about it. Hell, take a college class. Pick something that sounds interesting and sign up. Or start a new hobby. Beer brewing/Wine making Flying R/C planes or Drones (Drone might turn into side work) iRacing 3D printing CNC wood carving Scuba lessons Camping/hiking Those are just some ideas right off the top of my head. Right now I wouldn't hang on to the money, it's loosing value by the minute.

Might sound crazy, but I LOVE my Foxtrot Mike 9mm AR pistol. Almost no recoil, but it's more of a pistol caliber carbine than a pistol. Anyone could shoot it, it's a very short frame with only a 6 inch barrel, but it takes 33 round Glock mags. Would be great as a home defense weapon I believe. If anyone want to give it a try let me know, we can set up a range day and have some fun.

Can it hang by the front axle? Could it be as simple as a couple large hooks screwed into wall studs and hang the front axle over the hooks? Maybe some sort of safety chain lag bolted into a stud as well to make sure it can't fall off the wall and kill someone.

Wanted - 12ga Pheasant loads (#4, #5, or #6 shot)
Richard Cranium replied to evan9381's topic in Other Stuff
You might try a call to Gemco Pawn shop on West Broad. They don't advertise what they have online, but they have had random 12 gauge loads on and off all summer. Another place to check would be Bottom Dollar Gun and Archery. Since they don't advertise online, hell they don't even have a web page, they sometimes have stuff in stock. -
I've heard stories about the sales guys at big box stores changing the settings to make the higher commission models look better in a side by side comparison.

What's the big deal. Hillbillies have been doing this for years with punkin chunkin. Granted they are not reaching orbit.

We're in the market for a TV as well. The best deals I'm finding are at Target and Walmart. Amazon has been hit or miss, but the last time I looked their prices were down and they are the same as Target and Walmart. I have a TCL Roku TV in my office at home and I really like it. So I'm planning on getting a 65"-75" for our family room. Last I looked the 75" was $750. While it's not a fully optioned out TV, we rarely do anything other than watch streaming.
