  1. This thread reminded me of this story. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/jokes/budweiser-tail-gunner/80537314/ This happened on a flight getting ready to depart for Detroit. Jack was sitting on the plane when a guy took the seat beside him. The guy was an emotional wreck, pale, hands shaking, moaning in fear. "What's the matter?" Jack asked. "I've been transferred to Detroit, there's crazy people there. They've got lots of shootings, gangs, race riots, drugs, poor public schools, and the highest crime rate." Jack replied, "I've lived in Detroit all my life. It's not as bad as the media says. Find a nice home, go to work, mind your own business, enroll your kids in a nice private school. It's as safe a place as anywhere in the world." The guy relaxed and stopped shaking and said, "Oh, thank you. I've been worried to death. But if you live there and say it's OK, I'll take your word for it. What do you do for a living?" "Me?" said Jack. "I'm a tail gunner on a Budweiser truck."
  2. Yeah, I've known Eric for a few years now. He does great work.
  3. Woot has several HD antennas today. http://electronics.woot.com/plus/hdtv-antennas-10
  4. I was talking the other day with the autotech instructor at school and we got on this subject. A lot of new rotors from the factory are shipping with tolerances that are larger than the manufacturer allows. So you could actually get brand new rotors that are outside acceptable tolerance. Apparently some shops have had enough problems that they started selling a cutting service with brand new rotors. Also, if the hub on the car is ever so slightly off the rotor will wobble even if it's perfect. With the on car lathe the rotor will be cut based on the geometry of the car.
  5. Is it one piece, or multiple? What dimensions? Could make someone a nice mat for in the pits or a trailer floor.
  6. I think he's up in Marysville these days. Must have forgotten to update his location on CR.
  7. I don't recall seeing stock like that anywhere. I would contact Woodwerks or Woodcrafters, both here in Columbus, they may have some ideas. Could you maybe use something like crown molding or some other type of trim stock? I'm curious what you find, I would be interested in making some frames as well.
  8. I'd keep an eye on Woot. There are TVs once or twice a week if you don't mind a refurb.
  9. Why not start here on good ole CR? If there is a forum for that brand or car you could try there.
  10. Tolles Career & Technical Center Plain City We're on 42 South of Plain City a few miles.
  11. I took the welding class a couple years ago and I spent the entire time working with a tig welder. The instructor is pretty flexible with what the students want to learn. There was talk about doing a level 1 and level 2 class and try to get the students a certification, but I was never interested in that. I just wanted to weld.
  12. We're offering an adult education class on Auto Restoration. I think I'm going to sign up for this one. Here are the details. 13. No, I didn't forget. I was a green as grass new teacher that day. I still teach in the same room and can point to the spot on the floor where I was standing when I heard the announcement that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. It was one of my students (AJ) 18th birthday. I still get torn up thinking about that day. I was kinda glad the anniversary this year fell on a weekend so I wasn't at school for it.
  14. Is it just rusty? Or are you trying to get paint off? If it's rust you could try doing it electrostatically. Here is an article about how to do it. I've done this myself and it works great. http://1bad6t.com/rust_removal.html You could do it in two phases, one standing up with the bottom in a shallow pool, then laying down in the same pool. It would not need to be done all in one shot.
  15. Looking forward to seeing this at the next track day.
  16. The full instructions and plans are now posted.
  17. 94 Impala SS 14?,000 miles $5,000
  18. Ditto. Let me know how yours works out, i might try it too.
  19. I know this was a topic at one point. One of my favorite Youtube channels posted this teaser video about building your own. Once things settle down I can see myself building a couple of these.
  20. I know I'm showing my age here, and damn have times changed. When I was in high school I remember my shop teacher casting bullets while we worked on our shop projects. I was fascinated by how simple the process was. I'm trying to get set up to cast aluminum right now. Don't know what I'll cast, but the process still fascinates me.
  21. Grab the keg, Dave has a tool rigged up to cut the top out. I have a step drill to open up holes for the valve and thermometer. $10 is a deal.
  22. I've been with BMI for over 15 years, I have a Kemba branch nearest the house though, so I use them constantly. I would have no problems staying with either.
  23. Nobody is going to bring up motorsports for kids? Both are technically old enough for Jr. Dragster. I get it if you don't think Joel is ready, but he is at the minimum age. http://www.racingjunk.com/Junior-Dragster/182717688/Junior-Dragster.html Pacemakers up in Mt. Vernon seems to run a nice program for kids to race. Every test n tune I've been to on Friday night there are always some Jr.s running
  24. I know it isn't local, but they aren't far. MCMElectronics
