  1. The final test was kinda cool. Rest of the competition was a joke.

Yeah, that looked fun. I watched some of the episodes when nothing else was on, and mostly to make fun of how some guys just can't shoot. Some of them did all right sometimes, you gotta give them that.

  2. Even if this was true, their logic fails. There is still a significant amount of money to be made on these rifles (even just for parts) and our government might as well get some of our tax money back by taking their cut. It would be a shame for these to be destroyed - which is the most likely scenario. SK will probably not be allowed to sell them to anyone else.

You don't honestly expect the government to use logic do you?

  3. whats your reasoning on the 6.8? I know they say the ballistics are better than a 5.56, but in my opinion not by enough to warrant having an upper with harder to come by ammo.

I want to do a 6.5 grendal, but there aren't many places to utilize the range of the round

Agreed. I wouldn't bother owning an AR in anything other than 5.56 or 7.62. Why bother?

Also, what are you going to use it for, and how much can you spend?

  4. I have seen one case before where a winch was right at (or so we assumed) the working limit, and with a near-full spool of wire it wouldn't quite reel in, but if we ran the cable out (off the drum) if would just barely pull in the load. I don't know if that was your problem or not, or if you even have that much cable on there.
  5. The word on the Garand streets is that since Korea didn't pay for these (they're were MAP grant guns) but they want to sell them for profit, to us, we're saying no. So basically, we gave them away + now they want to sell them back to us = fail. Hopefulyl it works out and some happy importer gets them. I'm sure only a small portion of them are actually nice. Just like most of the stuff we get from other countries, it's mostly beat to shit junk/parts.
  6. Will I get 5?

Someone has to put a stop to this.

Price of a USGI M1a >>> Price of USGI garand last time I checked.

Well that's just fine. CMP still has plenty to sell, and hopefully the next administration can get us some good USGI stuff back. Or the cartels will buy them all up, and somehow it will still be our fault.

Also, you can (or could) pretty easily get AP rounds for the 30-06 for not much money. God forbid we all load up our garands and shoot holes in thick steel plating!

  7. Price may not drop significantly but you can bet a lot of manufacturers would lose business.

I doubt that. Most of the people that buy these from CMP are buying them as 2nd, 3rd, or 50th+ plus firearms. They're collected, and it's not unusual for CMP buyers to have literally racks of garands/carbines. They don't make them new anymore, so the only place to get them is used.

This is very sad. Unfortunately, that's the kind of fail-logic we voted into office. Good job America.
