  1. That's creepy, and definitely invasion of privacy in my opinion. I saw a documentary on some channel about these awhile back, and I remember it being basically a nude shot in weird colors. Plus, who knows where those images are being archived and who can get access to them. Hopefully someone gets the nude scans of Obama and posts them on the interwebz so we can legislate this crap out before it does any damage.
  2. I mean... for all you know, he was just some mexican guy who happened to be standing in the wrong place when the cops were looking for some other mexican guy. His public defender could have told him that he was unsympathetic due to his age, gender, appearance, and legal status, and the DA might have offered a battery charge because he realized he didn't have much of a case beyond the eyewitness testimony of a 6 year old. So he took the deal.

Or maybe he's a serial rapist and the cops were lucky to catch him before he could do more damage. I don't know. I just know that being happy about anyone getting beaten nearly to death seems pretty messed up to me. He was punished, the beating should never have happened, and now the prison is getting a reasonable slap on the wrist for their negligence.

Nope. If someone did the alleged things this dude did, they deserve a horrible death and nothing else.

  3. 4wd FTW. If you're going to tow anything you can't move around by hand (you said car trailer) then 4wd or fail. You would be amazed at how easily a 2wd can get stuck with a trailer. In grass, on leaves like mentioned, etc. I wouldn't be worried about the extra maintenance, especially if you don't drive much. I've never had a 4wd failure on any of my vehicles, ever.
  4. Also, the TDi takes rpm's to build power, while the electric motor in the RX400h has power at 1rpm. :D

Are you smoking crack? Go drive a tdi. Tell me when you perceive "tdi lag" or "turbo lag" or whatever you're referring to.

Since you go through cars quickly you probably won't be concerned with battery life, but it's something to consider if you want to hold on to it for a long time. I'd take a diesel over a hybrid any day of the week.

  5. Can you care to explain why?

Ultimately I want an Arsenal milled AK47, but they are impossible to find.

You can't find a milled arsenal? They'll be back, just give it awhile. The norincos are pretty solid as far as quality and everything goes (it's still an AK). And milled aks are always worth more than stamped all else being equal.

  6. the audi seems like a MUCH nicer car. but the subaru seems like it would be the safer of the two to buy....the mileage on the audi is what scares me, and the fact that it had a stock motor with 50k swapped into it...cars with stock motors from another car swapped in, scare me personally. atleast with the subi you know the engine is fresh and you know whats done to it, and its upgraded shit instead of stock that has already showed to not hold up well (hence the engine swap - atleast thats how it looks)

Your concerns would normally be founded, but in the s4 it's just an issue of the stock turbos dying on SOME cars (due to lack of maintenance usually) around 100k miles. The 'swap' uses factory parts, and doesn't make any changes that compromise the durability of the motor. Yes, your rs4-turbo 2.7 will go 200k miles and still not be "tired." This isn't a boosted b18jdm spec v, Audi actually designs their turbo motors to survive under boost. That's why they keep winning races. True story.

  7. Related question: Is it bad if you putt around on a 2 stroke, or does it need to be wound out the whole time for the health of the engine?

It's not going to hurt anything except your plugs for the most part. I'm not an expert, but I will foul plugs in no time just loafing. Riding harder will keep them clean for twice as long.

If it gets hard to start, your plug is probably about done. Sounds like you and me both need 4-strokes ;)

  8. Well, just ask yourself if you want a econobox or a luxury car... Subarus are always going to be souped-up shitboxes. The Audi is a classy, elegant car that is blisteringly fast with very little work, very bulletproof, and yes...requires maintenance sometimes. Drive both, then you'll have your answer.

Also, which one of these cars can smoke a 280whp sti with 3 passengers, luggage, with the AC on, without breaking a sweat and still get decent gas mileage?

    Pwned.

PS- how many times has Subaru won Le Mans? Really?

  9. Typically the later b5s have the updated S4 badge, but some of them have been switched around due to bodywork, ricers, etc in the past 10 years. The V6 A4s are just fine. Plenty of power for getting around, and I got 25mpg with mine. They are very reliable, and last a very long time as long as you change your timing belt. Don't get a b5 S4 unless you want to work on it and buy parts, because they CAN be a hassle.
  10. I'll have to be getting mine scheduled any time now. I've been kinda procrastinating because I have to buy a back protector and flush my coolant out to run in I, but don't really want to on both of my bikes :(

I wish they still did the All-in-two so I didn't have to do anything with my bike. I'm not running in the novice group with their pokey asses!

Are you doing 3-groups, or twilight or what?

  11. That's not a bad deal. It gives the impression that the current owner has been good to it, though you can't be sure what the person before him was like. I usually see them sell for around $4k if they're in great shape and unmolested, and around or just under $3k if they're rebuilt, customized/riced, high mileage, etc.

Look for uneven wear on the tires, take your hands off the bars and see if they become unstable, sit nice and straight at moderate speed and look down the centerline for anything out of alignment. The superhawk has dual exhausts, and it's really easy to see a tweaked exhaust system/subframe/muffler hangers because of the symmetry. Also, the fairing stay up front is fragile and easily bent left or right. It's easy to see when you're going down the road. Obviously check the frame for cracks, dents, repairs, etc. The superhawk has a unique swingarm mount that actually is part of the motor, so check for any cracks/leaks/damage there. Wheels bent or dented heavily? Rotors warped/pulsing? Want me to keep going?

  12. Isn't that a roller cam? That is suspiciously early from my limited experience for a lobe to be wiped. I'd suspect lifter failure that accelerated cam wear on that lobe, but either way throw a new cam with good lifter(s) in it and be done.

The only wiped lobes I've seen were from high-mileage flat-tappet sbcs, or ones that were badly abused. I've pulled out roller cams with almost 200k on them that looked fresh and were completely fine.

  13. I'm more worried about what the people shooting him may end up going through from a psychological stand point later in life. Either they enjoy killing criminals in the name of justice, or they are just trying to do their job. That could definitely lead to some mental issues that surface later on.

That is a possibility, but I don't think there's any shortage of patriotic, gung-ho criminal killers out there to do the job. How do you suppose the benefits are?
