To give some perspective, this is the view of the camera that prompted them to send a letter. http://i1038.photobucket.com/albums/a461/RyanCorlew/Screenshot_2017-05-18-09-39-16_zpsrynhyxvg.png

There is a lot of truth to that. Of the dogs that I have personally owned, only one didn't require too much maintenance, and that's because I had him since he was a pup. The expectations we instilled in him since the beginning so he never really had too many opportunities to get accustom to bad behavior and thus learning he could get away with it. I still remember some of my first walks with him. Of course there was the usual biting on the leash, pulling, walking all over any which way with no mind to me, my position, or my expectations. Through clear direction and consistency, he learned really quickly though so we were able to nip a lot of issues before they actually became issues. With the dogs I received outside of puppyhood, it's more of a challenge and requires more upkeep. It doesn't really bother me because as with my children, it's just a part of life. Every moment is a teaching moment whether you realize it or not.

"Walking nicely on a leash is baby steps. You can't build Rome in a day." Ummm, no, but most dogs should be able to walk on a leash without pulling in a day. There are always exceptions but this guy seems to be taking something that can be done in a couple hours and making it a long process. I am trying to think of a dog I trained in the past that took longer than a few hours tops to learn how to properly walk on a loose leash and am coming up blank. Obviously changing environments and distractions up will change the dynamics, but it just seems like this guy takes the scenic route so to speak as opposed to just getting there and moving on to other important things.

1.) Dogs get equipment smart. A lot of dogs I see that haven't been properly trained since puppyhood learn very quickly that they only have to listen when a certain piece of equipment is put on. "I have to mind when the leash is on, but when the leash isn;t there, I can do wtf I want." You can get around this, but it takes consistency and work. 2.) Most equipment I see on dogs is being used incorrectly, whether its prong collars, slip chains, e-collars, etc.

ha ha. this shiz is great.
-
A dog should be able to walk on a loose leash without tension on it or the collar. And I'd say 90% of the slip chains and prong collars I see are being used incorrectly. Erica Noneman. Call her. (419) 305-7277

Fk a harness. Actually train the dog walk properly.

Tim, you better make sure you cameras aren't pointing in the direction of anyone else's property. Lulz. Ohh, side note, I talked to one of my neighbors a few hours ago, and yes, they can hear them when they party, and they are 4x further away from them than we are with a giant barn and trees between them as well.
-
I just did a measurement on google maps, and our master bedroom is about 50ft straight back from their party area. My one neighbor is about 200ft away, and the other closer to 250ft away, both diagonally. I can ask them when next I see them, but like I said, with their distance, I highly doubt they hear them.
-
Negatory. But here is the thing, on both properties to the left and right of me, the houses are set much closer to the road. So small front yards, but a big back yard buffer. They are also spaced further to the left and right of my house than houses are spaced in cookie cutter neighborhoods. (Everyone in my neighborhood has anywhere from 1 acre to 10 acres of property). Whereas my house is situated much further back. So I have a large front yard/buffer between us and the street, but not much buffer at all between our house and the people behind us. I find it highly improbable with the layout of my neighborhood that any of my neighbors can hear them as there is a large space between. As for their neighbors on either side of them, I know one of their neighbors also party with them, but its always at the Swint's residence, never at their own. The people on the other side of the Swints I don't know anything about them. I don't know if they have ever made complaints or not. In the end, it doesn't really matter if anyone else has made complaints or not. The fact is, you live in a neighborhood, be courteous. Don't be discourteous, especially by breaking the law. I just find it someone funny that they go from hurling insults and throwing rocks at my house to sending a letter after I put cameras up. (I have more than one camera on the property facing all directions.)

Unless you get sent a dud, you should not be disappointed.

The sad thing is, they are literally the only people that will be out partying and being loud both vocally and via music at the most ridiculous hours. None one else beside them nor beside or across the street from me come even close to this kind of behavior. Just because our kids are in bed by 2000-2015 and we are in bed by 2100 most evenings doesn't mean we think anyone else should be, but there are sound ordinances for a reason. Just be respectful. That's all we ask. One of the funny things about their letter was the need they felt to explain how/why they designed their back yard the way they did. Really? And where is your consideration for how I have orchestrated the lay out of my house and property? Wow. As for skin action, I wouldn't know as i'm not trying to gawk over at them in the afternoon while they are outside in the pool and whatnot. Like I said before, I can see more of my yard than I can theirs, and i'm fine with that. I just need to be able to see the top of the fence in case they try coming over it again to destroy my property, or to throw things at my house. Outside of that, I have the camera there for purposes of monitoring my back yard/mew.

Response is already in the mail via certified letter. I debated whether or not to respond, but I can see them still pursuing it when I don't take the camera down, and lack of a response could make me look bad as they can prove they reached out to me. Me ignoring their letter could be construed to look bad. It's a toss up either way, and it landed on me responding. On a side note, we found a football in our yard this weekend. About 2hrs ago the kids saw me out back and asked through the fence if I had seen a brown football. I told them I'd look. 5min later I told the kids to get ready because I had found it and was going to toss it back over. I got a few thank yous from the kids. Maybe they'll put a good word in for me. Ha ha. I can't smite the kids because their parents are pr*cks.
-
I agree. It is honestly my hope that they get the letter, realize I'm not going to bow down, and they just move on with life as we would like to do. I may be a little paranoid, but I think one reason they want the camera down is so they can continue reaching onto my property, throwing things at my property, etc without any "proof." At least with a camera where it is, there is a possibility of them being held accountable for their behavior as it pertains to their interaction with my property. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

BTW, my response is being sent via certified letter. lulz.

Yeah, the charge life on that thing is insane. There aren't too many things out there that I have bought and had nothing bad to say about it. This though, I have yet to be disappointed.

So this is what I started using: https://www.amazon.com/Shomer-Tec-Nausea-Electronic-Disruption-Device/dp/B00ABV7OAM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464819336&sr=8-1&keywords=sonic+nausea But then I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K589F8A/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The latter is freaking amazing. I downloaded a frequency generator app on my phone that I can cast to this speaker via bluetooth. That allows me to control it indoors. This speaker, I have had outside all night during a rain storm and the thing still works fine. It has blown away my expectations. I still use it to listen to music while i'm working outside.

My intent is not to piss on their olives. But these are the kinds of individuals that like to bully, (the obscenities that have been hurled at us after I gave them a taste of their own medicine are pretty horrible, on top of the rocks they have thrown at our house, and they did call the cops only to have nothing done because I am unincorporated so in regards to sound, I can essentially do what I want.) and I'm not going to be bullied into taking my camera down, or threats of LEO's. I am politely letting them know as such. I honestly have no problems with them doing what they want with their property so long as it doesn't affect us by being illegal in nature. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124954&highlight=swint I refer to him as "Chaz bro Chaz." My wife pointed out that he most likely wore two polos back in the day so he could pop two collars at once. Pretty sure he likes listening to Jack Johnson and drinking PBR whilst hanging out with the "bros."

Escalates to what? They sent a letter trying to intimidate with their snarky LEO comment, so I simply responded addressing their concerns. I'm doing nothing illegal. In fact I haven't even put my speaker out there in months and months. If anything escalates, it's because they are entitled d-bags with no regard for other people. In fact, I still have rocks on my roof from when people(s) on their property threw them at my house. At least now there is a camera to catch evidence. And let me point out, I can see very little of their yard. Most of the view is the fence line and my mew (hawk house). But that's really none of their business either way. They could put 10 cameras on their property facing mine. I couldn't care less.
-
Hadn't thought about it. simply posted the letter they sent me. Though I am sure that anybody who wanted to could find their # pretty effortlessly. I mean, it's literally the first result if you type "chaz swint phone #" into google.

Went to update the original thread, but it appears to have been locked. So, I come home Friday and check the mail to find a letter from the Swints. Attached is a pic of the letter as well as my response. Sorry, I don't respond to sideways intimidation administered under the guise of courtesy. To their credit, thus far, they seem to have gotten better at toning it down at night; though, the kids are still in school and summer is not yet in full swing. Fingers crossed they exercise more courtesy this year than last. You can see their letter to me as well as my response that I'll be sending back to them. http://i1038.photobucket.com/albums/a461/RyanCorlew/Screenshot_2017-05-15-09-02-08_zps9qtaf5ny.png http://i1038.photobucket.com/albums/a461/RyanCorlew/Screenshot_2017-05-15-09-27-24_zps93alytpa.png
