I agree with you; however, Ford will tell me to shove it. http://blog.bluespringsfordparts.com/245/ecoboost-shudder/ Interesting stuff on PG 1 Near the bottom of the 1st page, "The Current" posys my problem to a T. http://www.fordf150.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=100708 And here is why I think Ford would tell me to take a hike. http://www.f150ecoboost.net/forum/2-f150-ecoboost-news/4553-feds-drop-ford-f150-ecoboost-investigation.html

Just got a call from Ford. Its appears the engine was misfiring. No kidding. I have a scanner and pulled the codes, lol. So they want to do a deflector down by the "charge air cooler", do an induction service, (spark plugs, filter, carbon cleanout, blah blah blah), and a PCM update. Of course I have to pay for all of this since it's not covered under warranty anymore. Lesson learned...next time get the extended warranty.

Care to elaborate?

Don't get me wrong. I love the truck. I would have nothing to complain about if it wasn't for these two issues in the last 6mo. But connector issues, that ford has supposedly known about for years, and now this misfire issue which is due to either water intrusion affecting ground wiring or a moisture accumulation in the intercooler, which again, ford has know about for a few years, has me worried. My buddy that used to work for ford even told me everything would be fine and dandy until the warranty was up, then things are going to start going wrong. That is what concerns me. How many more problems is this thing going to have at 60k, 80k, 100k, etc. This is my family's primary mode of transportation, and i'm not trying to have a vehicle that is 3 or 4 years old leaving me and my family stranded in the middle of nowhere a few hundred miles from home in the pouring rain. If this 2nd issues hadn't occurred, I would really have no complaints about the vehicle...

That's what I was thinking. It wouldn't have so much to do with murican trucks being better quality so much as it is them being cheaper.

This car is so secksey.

The Kitchen? Really? Come on CR...:lolguy: Haven't had much to complain about. Have "only" had 2 issues that just so happened to have been in the last 2 months or so. Everything outside of those two issues is great. The features, the space, etc. Outside of having issues at 40k and 51k, I love everything else about the truck. BUT, as stated before, i'm not a ford nutswinger, and I know their indestructible ecoboost vids are nothing more than marketing. That makes it a little disheartening as I intend to tow. I don't tow a lot, but I have towed a few cars. Some locally, and some long distance, and I need a truck that is able to do that without concern, (which the ecoboost has done for me multiple times; though I am glad I didn't tow a vehicle this time as I was VERY close to purchasing one while I was in OH a week ago).

sooooo, does anyone here have the hookup on tundras? ha ha

I never said that. I'm not a ford nutswinger. I like the twin turbo v6 and it pulls like a bauce, is super comfortable, and tons of room in the back seats. However, back in the winter, it started shifting erratically and sometimes not shifting at all, then kicking out of gear altogether. I took it to ford, they said it was a connector issue in the trans. So they fixed it under the powertrain warranty. On a side note, a friend of mine used to work for ford and said he would never own one, and that they have had connector issues since back in '95 and never bothered to fix. Fast forward to yesterday on the last leg of our trip back from OH. We hit heavy rain. I go to accelerate from a toll booth and the truck started shaking badly and would hardly accelerate. Seemed like a horrible misfire. finally it stopped misfiring, and would cruise just fine, but when I would give it gas to pass, it would do it again, no power and violent vibrations. SO I get it to where we are close to home and no rain for the last couple hours. I punch it, and it accelerates fine. I did some research and am finding ford has some TSB's for the shielding over the intercooler, and more specifically pertaining to my issue, "grounding issues due to water intrusion" causing misfires. In fact, I found a case identical to my situation. Codes P0300, 304, 305, and 306. I'm taking it to ford tomorrow and they are probably going to tell me its not covered under the powertrain warranty so ima have to cover costs out of pocket. At which point ima tell them apparently this truck was not built ford tough and they can shove it. Even if they do fix it under warranty, I have 51000mi on this thing, its my daily driver and I use it to travel long distances with my family. This is the 2nd time in the last 6 months it's been in there for issues, and I would venture to guess the # of occurrences in regards to issues will only increase, not decrease. This is why I am entertaining getting another vehicle and am open to other makes/models, though the only one that even remotely has my interest is the tundra.

Anybody here own a newer Tundra? Pros? Cons? On that note, anybody here work for Toyota and would want to cut me a super awesome deal? I want a $50K truck, but I ain't paying $50k...lol. I could say that with Ford as they regularly discounts their trucks $10-$14k off MSRP...but I don't see those kinds of discounts on the Toyotas.

The guy that owned the Dyno I had jumped on a few days before happened to be at the track that night and got my 130mph run on vid. Not a very good quality vid, but better than nothing imo. I just found the vid today...

Yeah, its a nice turbo. Slightly less lbs/min than the 3065 that was on before, but at least 500rpm faster spool to full boost. It's a pretty awesome turbo.

Would rather take "life point reduction" and own a GTR.

unconstitutional checkpoints...lol. Am I being detained? Am I free to go? lol.

HTA DSM76 and E85. Stock fuel lines, stock filter, walbro 450 and 1550cc injectors.

i have apex n1 turbo back. also don't want to separate.

I'll be in Columbus at the end of this week. Are you available for autographs?
-
I think it's time for me to get one of those little trailers.
-
My parents just bought some land so I may get an actual full sized trailer eventually as I would now have a place to keep it.
-
Also, I forgot to add vehicle weight. 3395 with me in it. Full interior, tool box, 5gal of water, a few extra quarts of trans fluid and oil, etc in the back. True weekend worrior street car. Almost no weight reduction mods...yet.
-
For street tires, I am happy. BFG sport comp 2's. But if I build more than 11-12psi off the line, I break traction. If I get some track friendly tires tires though, and can leave the line at 20-25psi...it's gonna be a whole other ball game.
-
I appreciate the love, gents. With a couple relatively minor tweaks, I expect this to be a high 10's street car by the end of summer. Gotta get that 60ft down! Funniest part is, I dynoed 372/405 on a dynocom. lol

Cheapo built motor. 8.3:1 ross pistons, eagle rods, stock crank, 2g head, hks spec 272 delta regrind cams, evo springs, ebay SS valves, ARP L19 head studs with a $35 autozone composite head gasket. I probably have $3k from the valve cover to the oil pan, including machine work. When I say "Cheapo", I just mean I don't have a $3000 curt brown block and a $1500 curt brown head (which I want both of), and $600 GSC cams or anything. The rotating assembly wasn't balanced, etc. Budget build. IMHO, Robert Proffit at Performance Research did an awfully good job on the machine work and assembling the rotating assembly. Trans is stock with about 90-95k I think. I doubt the pan has even ever been pulled off. Stock restalled converter. TCU chip with higher shift points and firmer shift pressures.
