  1. I have Stihl line trimmer, chain saw and blower. I abuse them. They run. I wish Stihl made motorcycles, cars and trucks.

    Don't tempt me. I have a stihl ms290 that needs a friend.

I have not tried dicking with the fuel screws. No idea what I'm doing there. Might need to read up on it.

  2. Yes seriously,

    Homelite st-145. Looks like this.

Received from my boss for free. Said it needed gas lines because it had been sitting for a while.

Picked up the gas line rebuilt kit at TSC. This included the primer bulb (old one shatter when i pressed it) and gas line + fuel filter. Tore the carb down and cleaned it best i could with carb and choke cleaner. Gaskets looked okay so i put it back together with new primer bulb and fuel lines. Fired up first pull but seemed to be struggling when unchoked. Idled fine but died the instant i gave it throttle. Tore the carb down again to do some additional cleaning. Made sure all passage ways were clear and flowing freely. Removed needle valve and cleaned the rubber tip and passage way. Put everything back together and now it wont start at all. Any ideas? When reassembling the needle valve assembly it didnt seem like there was much travel.

Primer bulb fills just fine with pressed.

  3. I seriously do not understand your hate. I think I know this platform pretty well by now. The V6 is regarded as the much more reliable engine' date=' the Quattro tranny is solid. This one doesn't suffer from any electrical issues. I'm not scared of high mileage vehicles like some. Perhaps it's because I know how to work on cars and car repair anything myself. I keep a car for maybe 6 months tops and like all the others in sure I will make money off of it when I sell.[/quote']

All because you're an Alabama "fan"

    :gabe:

  4. I really wanted a Quattro and even if I swapped the manual trans into my Passat it would still be fwd. when this thing popped up I new I had to have it. Pearl white is very rare on avant and with black leather in almost perfect condition it sealed the deal.

It's funny the couple I got it from had this and a older A6 wagon as a parts car. They wanted a whopping $750 for the pair. I have no use for the a6 so I snagged mine for $550. They had no idea what they had. Took it to a mechanic and was quoted 2k+ in suspension. Repair and valve cover gaskets so they just wanted to sell it. The lady drove it daily to and from OSU campus 5 days a week 60+ miles a day. The new tires every four months got to her haha.

Anyway my ECS box showed up today so valve cover, can seals, CCT half moon being replaced tomorrow and H&R cup kit also going on.

And neither do you apparently. Enjoy the mechanical nightmare you just purchased, AGAIN.

  5. Made some time today to finish the aquarium stand. Sorry for potato quality pics.

Started today by making a door. Took a 1x6, ripped it down to 1x2 actual. Cut a dado down the center and then cut the panel using the router table and a 1/2" straight but. The corners arent 100% but theyre pretty damn close.

Took the body outside for a sand and paint. Aldo added corner trim to cover up the ugly looking rabbet joints. Used some brass hardware to hang the door and used a brass pull handle. The door latches via magnet. I found this dime sized magnet that is strong as hell so I counter-sunk it into the main body, then used a screw head on the inside of the door to give the magnet something to latch onto. Pretty much done at this point.

And lastly, an unfocused photo i took in the dark of the stand with the tank on it.

  6. Aquarium stand is coming along. So the plans i posted on Saturday were a bit off lol. Somewhere I left out a rabbet dimension or something and so everything was way too long (better than too short i guess). Last night i spent a good amount of time running dados and rabbets to get everything to snugly together. That router table i built earlier this year has really come in handy.

Potato quality photo showing progress. The plan now is to sand everything, paint/stain(cant decide on a finish) then run corner trim down the corners to cover up the seems. Oh, and fix the door back on.

Note to self for future builds: ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS double check board dimensions before assuming theyre equal. I picked up two pieces of 1x4x8 and only after gluing them found out that one was like 3.35" wide instead of 3.5.

  7. The theory going around is kind of long but the cliff notes:

Hayes father was killed by police in 2005

Hayes sued NOLA PD and settled

Fast forward, Smith was good friends with the officer that killed Hayes father, and had dinner with him the night he was killed.

Hayes rear ends Smith, calls the police and gets out to confront Smith

Here is where the speculation begins

Hayes rear ends him on purpose, calls police to look like the good guy. Gets out with the intent of killing Smith, but knowing who he is, figures that Smith carries a gun. Smith unbuckles his seat belt to get out, Hayes shoots him. Hayes waits for the cops because he believes that they will find a gun in Smith's vehicle. No gun found, charged with murder.

Hayes lawyer is claiming that Hayes believed that Smith was reaching for a gun.

Still, go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

  8. Cutout Template for a sheet of plywood. This design is based on a 1/2" plywood. Its small enough that i doubt anything thicker would be necessary. Its too bad you cannot get 5X5 sheets here in the states. That would have been perfect to minimize scrap.

  9. Sister gave me a 10 gallon fish tank yesteday and it needs a stand. Decided to draw something up in autocad. Anyone who uses will CAD on a daily basis will probably have an aneurysm after seeing my dims, but whatever, it works for me.
