  1. Zero complaints so far. Fills up quickly, holds air and is not super loud. Hopefully it lasts. The HF 18ga nailer is nice too. Ive put probably 400 brads through it and didnt have a single jam.
  2. I no longer work for tire discounters...... BUT

all td's only have hunter alignment equipment most the newer shops, bethel rd, east broad, south hamilton, stelzer road all have 2 alignment racks/machines and road force balancers.

and here is an eye opener about why tire discounters is doing "free" alignments on every tire purchased.

3.5/4 years ago when I started at tire discounters it was a "BIG DEAL" to do 30k in service a month. These are stores selling 800-1200 tires a month doing 200k in sales. They open their eyes and realize they can make money selling service so then the goal becomes getting cars back in the shop for free rotations, balances, any excuse you can have to get the wheels off the car and look for other issues. When I left tire discounters my store was doing 45-60k in service per month on 150k of sales. This was mind blowing to them. I wasn't doing anything unethical or injust. Just fully inspecting the cars that came into our shops and presenting the findings to the customers.

    rant off

not all tire discounters are bad. Maybe the one you took it to "delaware"? which used to be a solid store has changed in the last few years since i've been there.

Either way Jeffro get it to one of those newer stores that have roadforce machines. those tires are cheap but they were 95% round when we sold thm I had to adjust a couple out here and there for being oval.

http://www.hunter.com/gsp9700 How correct do you suppose this is? If accurate, it says the TD on polaris has one. Youre saying if i call them and explain the situation they will allow me to take it there free of charge?

  3. To answer a few questions...

The tires i got were westlake RP18's. Yes, they were on the cheaper side, but that is still not an excuse to vibrate at highway speeds.

It just sucks dick going to drop the car off and being out of commission for however long it takes for them to work on it. The last time they quoted me 4 hours and it was closer to 5..

  4. Alignment? Probably just "not ideal" tires.

I had problems with mine in a similar way. Had to get a GOOD balance with a Hunter Road Force machine before it solved my problem. Don Hartman in Canal is A-MAZING and very reasonable in price.

Still the place YOU went should make it right. Also they need to be using torque wrenches when installing. Seems like that should be standard practice, but a lot of times it isnt.

    Alignment was included for "free"...

  5. 2-3 weeks ago i had a set of 4 tires put on the accord. Immediately after driving it i noticed a vibration at speeds of 55+. Two other people riding in the car with me on separate occasions also noticed the vibration. So about a week later i took the car back to where i had the tires mounted/balanced and explained the issue. 3 hours later i pick up the car and they tell me 1 front tire and 1 back tire was slightly out of balance but only slightly and that they had rebalanced them. On the drive home i notice the vibration is there there. This time slightly less. I ignored it thinking it was some sort of false issue i was creating in my head, but a week later the vibration is starting to drive me crazy. The ride just isn't as smooth as it was before. What ever is causing the vibration is also causing the "helicopter" effect in the cabin. Like where you have the windows open just enough it sounds like helicopter blades. Its not nearly as bad as having a window open, but its definitely noticeable.

So, What would CR do? Take the car back and tell them the vibration is still there? Or man up and get over it?

  6. Thanks for the pic.

Here is a couple of things i have been working on the last few nights. Gotta start somewhere... .

Basic birdhouse. Decent practice on getting cuts correct on the table saw.

And a spice rack. Still in progress.

  7. Welp made the buy. Built a little wooden crate for the missus tonight with it. No jams from the nailer and the compressor ran great. Only takes a second to refill. Assuming everythings lasts, worth the money on both accounts.
  8. I went to use mine today, and no bueno.

I only get chicken and lettuce on my burrito, and that doesn't qualify as a full burrito I guess, so the code wouldn't work... They just let me have it though.

    dafuq.

  9. If you get just the nailer you should be fine. Just avoid anything "2 in 1."

To me, compressors should either be huge or tiny. I like the $99 porter cable pancake compressors as they are easy to move around the house. I also have a 20 gallon that barely gets used. It's overkill for a nailer and too small for any other tool I own/want. But, that's just me. Get whatever suits your needs, just don't expect a 10g to run an air sander, etc.

If the compressor is just going to sit in one place though, might as well go as big as you can.

Sell me your 10 gal on the cheap ;)

Air sander, no. Pump up a tire or maybe take some lugs off? Maybe. Considering an electric impact for lugs.

  10. Nice. I have Porter Cable, Bostich, and Paslode nailers. I also have a couple $20 HF ones. Just use good nails and they work fine honestly. Just don't get the 2 in 1 brad/staple gun. It leaves two holes regardless of fasteners. Slightly annoying but they work. And any cheap compressor will keep up with nailers.

Interesting.... I was looking at that 18ga 2 in 1, but suppose ill just stick with the nailer only. It has really good reviews. Does it only leave 1 hole? I have heard you have to dial in the PSI to the wood you are working with.

Their 10 gal 125 PSI compressor is on sale right now for 99. Plus theyre running the 20% off right now so for $79 i dont think i can go wrong. Its an oil lubricated and has great reviews, so long as you break it on per the instructions. I told myself i wouldnt buy an air compressor from HF, but for that price... Damn.

  11. Picked up a cheapo table saw earlier this week. Built a cedar bird feeder with it already. I am finding the table top to be a bit small so will likely be building a larger table for it. Air compressor and brad nailer next (if the waifu lets me)
