  1. Last video, what I found of CR people. On reviewing the video, I'm surprised by the Dart. Thing pulled pretty good down the straights.
  2. If you're carrying a concealed crowbar along with a signed affidavit stating your intention to use it as a weapon then yeah, you're pretty much fucked under this law. And justly so. If you're a normal guy carrying normal things around in a normal manner, and you still think this law might give you trouble, I'd consult a lawyer or a medical professional.
  3. Oh dang, that's a scary place to go off.
  4. Generally speaking, laws are built on top of each other, meaning somewhere else in the ORC there's likely a section which defines "deadly weapon" and "handgun." So I searched for it and here it is: http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2923.11 Not very satisfying eh? So I did some more googling and apparently knife laws in Ohio aren't very specific or universal. I'd say we're left focusing on "designed or specially adapted for use as a weapon" and "capable of inflicting death." A pocket knife can be used as a weapon, same as a box-cutter, but neither would be generally considered to be "designed as weapons." Pepper spray isn't capable of inflicting death. Tasers haven't really been around long enough for much of a legal precedent; they're certainly capable of inflicting death, but only in rare instances, and only (as far as I know) the police ones, not the little anti-rape stun guns that people carry.
  5. I wanted to get a picture of that S2000 but I figured that'd be pretty rude. That thing was smashed. Advanced was fine, but speaking of intermediate.... I don't know if anyone knows who that guy was but that was a frustrating couple of laps, even from the passenger seat.
  6. I've had good luck with Trackmaster, if your phone doesn't have 10Hz GPS (like mine) you can get a bluetooth module for something like $40. Unfortunately I forgot to load the Mid-Ohio sectors onto my Android device, and I don't have a working Android phone, so I was SOL as well. Dammit, I had no idea that was Draco (or you) either, and I also feel like an ass now.
  7. I went through several terrible thread titles before settling on that one, so just watch this video of some schlub almost getting crushed by a girls car.
  8. I know these videos can be pretty boring without any antics or hijinks, but here's my last four laps of the day. I think my last time out I was generally running in the 1:51-1:52 range on crappier tires, so I'm pretty happy with the improvement on the Toyos despite having a passenger. No traffic at that point except for some kid driving way too fast (for a Miata) that I had to show up Still going through everything while trying to look like I'm working...
  9. Or, what happens when you come in too hot and apex too early in an M3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkasHdSb1nQ&feature=youtu.be&t=38s
  10. OK I'll take a look guys. In the meanwhile, these spins were easy enough to find:
  11. Yeah, with the rain and the short sessions I didn't get much of an opportunity to walk around and meet people. We should have had a CR corner or something. If that was you in the Dart then that would have been my friend driving in intermediate, I was riding along to make sure he didn't break my car I'll see if you pop up on the vids anywhere.
  12. I got most of intermediate and advanced on video, if anyone here wants me to look out for their car in particular let me know. I'm fucking beat. Between the rain, the heat, and either driving or riding in two run groups in a car with stock seats and shitty belts, I feel like I'm going to need some pain killers to get through the night. Oh, and I didn't leave the track ever but I had a pretty epic spin in T10. Seemed to be a particularly nasty spot in the wet and it caught me completely unawares. (eta, well, I guess I did leave the track a little bit)
  13. I've suppressed all embarrassment at this point in my life. See sig.
  14. Well there you go OP, your wife will love it.
  15. Mazda 5. Seats 6, manual transmission available, will fit in any garage.
  16. If it rains then you get to drive in the rain.
  17. Oh, so I'm a horse now? Is that because of my giant dick or my bad teeth? Frickin' anti-equites. Anyway, I don't want to derail this thread with the internet's 50 billionth FWD argument. If anyone wants to hear me wax poetic about FWD handling they can PM me. Or come to Mid-O next Monday, I'll give you a ride.
  18. Easy to drive at the limit, easy on consumables (205/50R15s are cheeeap, brakes are small), 4 wheel double wishbones, critically acclaimed transmission, same power-to-weight ratio as an E36 M3, sweet 8500 rpm redline, dead nuts reliable, limited slip, and you want to talk about aftermarket support that's better than Integras? Get out of town. It's faster than a 350Z, against an S2000 or an E36 M3 it's a driver's race. It's slower than a C5 but not by much, and you're going to spend less on consumables than any of those cars. On top of all that, it's just one of the most pleasant, fun to drive cars ever made in its price range. Really the only reasons not to get it are because you want to drift, you don't fit, you're afraid of theft (a very reasonable concern), or you have an anti-FWD bias. I've been hustling a FWD car around tracks for 6 years, the FWD thing ain't that big of a deal.
  19. I think that's the answer to how fast is fast enough. If you feel like you need to hire a driver to hit the track at an HPDE, your car is too fast/expensive/whatever. Beater racing FTW.
  20. I have a medium I can bring. $20 to rent. It's a snell 2005.
  21. I do love this saying I have my own adage, which is that a slow car that runs is infinitely more enjoyable than a fast car on jackstands in the garage. I'd say a car has too much power when it ends up under the knife more often than you'd like it to. Where that point is varies from person to person, so it's a judgement call.
  22. Always disappointing to hear someone reject a great car for dubious reasons, but to each their own.
