  1. Do you have a resistor pack anywhere? The only concern I can think of is if the injector driver is sending out enough current to fire the injectors. The drivers are expecting low impedance injectors, and if hit an injector with 5 to 6 x the resistance, the current's going to drop by that much. The injectors either won't fire, or they'll fire partially and sporadically. edit: on a honda, cutting out the resistor pack is as simple as cutting all 5 wires going into the resistor box and twisting them all together. The high impedance injectors take its place, and the ECU goes about its business like normal. I'd imagine the same is true for a supra, but I dunno.
  2. C4C was a fuckup, but it was a fuckup to support the auto industry (since we've already confirmed in this thread that C4C had nothing to do with the environment), which is something that the government was going to do regardless of who was in power (see: bush auto bailouts). Furthermore, $3 billion is a 1/1000th of the federal budget sort of fuckup, so my ire is low. /obama supporter
  3. The $55k version is going to be marketed towards racing teams who have a $200,000 track monster that they don't want their highly paid driver taking out to a new course he's never seen, so they'll get this plus iRacing or something similar and let him get used to it in virtual form. At least, that'd be my guess. Also, rich dumbasses.
  4. Well, yeah, I meant that plus, you know, the unbendable rules of physics.
  5. Yes, I want to drive. Badly. But I'm not a very good candidate And I'd have to get a replacement for an HPDE slot this weekend. But I'm jealous.
  6. The problem with math is that some people suck at it. Problem 1 is that oil is not gasoline, and a barrel of oil makes 19-20 gallons of gas out of 42 gallons of oil, so based on the raw numbers in the email, 224 million gallons of gas is closer to 11.5 million barrels of oil, which, at $70 a barrel, would run just over $800 million. Problem 2 is that's only 1 year of savings. If we can assume that each clunker would have stayed on the road another 5 years, that's $4 billion in savings. (note: C4C is still retarded, I didn't support it, the math is indeed crummy which is why it was never about "green" cars really, and most of the clunkers weren't being driven at all, yet alone 12k miles a year. Still, bad math is bad and needs to be pointed out).
  7. That's depressing. The s2k was making up a lot of ground in the braking zones, but was babying it through the corners. Plus he backed off a couple of times due to the smoke screen. And that truck was a fuggin' straight line monster compared to the s2k. Still... sad Wonder what kind of event that was. Looked like public roads almost.
  8. beef = fattier = tastier, bison is a gimmick for fat people.
  9. Wait... you can't get yeungling in Ohio? NOOO!!!
  10. Not to beat a dead horse, but in addition to Netflix and other superior DVD-getting alternatives, on-demand movies, DVRs, and the internet all played a role. 15 years ago, you could either play nintendo or go get a movie if you were bored with your friends and wanted to stay in, nowadays TV is way better and people are content to sit on the internet and facebook and WoW and shit. Now, I canceled my Netflix account because I was sick of dealing with scratched DVDs and piracy just seemed easier. Chew on that.
  11. Julie and Julia, but that might have more to do with the fact that that was the night we discovered Movie Tavern.
  12. I'll be there in a couple of weeks for the TrackDaze event, I can't wait. That track looks insane. I'm actually a bit nervous about it Have fun, take pictures!
  13. I love how everything levels off so well. That's a nice fat powerband to work with. Very nice.
  14. FWD is fine. Old cars are great. Old FWD cars are awesome.
  15. I was looking forward to this, but some delays in getting closed on the house made it difficult. Had my dirty-ass car all ready to go, but I was nowhere near it. I finally drove by at about 10:15 and it looked like it was winding down. Some other time.
  16. I was there with my kids on Friday. They didn't have the best time, and that was before I found out that someone got stabbed to death. And I only saw 1 set of titties, and they were painted and I only caught a glimpse, but it was still nice.
  17. How often are these? I like the idea, and it's close
  18. Thanks for the welcomes everyone. burmese - It's a built poor-man's type R, 1.85L, 12.7:1 compression, 9500rpm redline. I need to get to a dyno so I can answer the next obvious question, but it feels pretty stout. I'm also happy to discover that two of the SCCA auto-x locations are 2 and 6 miles from my house. That's a huge improvement over where I am now, where I have to go 40 and 60 minutes to the two closest events. I think I'm gonna like living in Ohio again.
  19. Thanks for the info Gearhead. I have an '06 Sedona... doesn't sound like I have this problem, but it makes other interesting noises. I'm keeping a wary eye on it. Good to know there's some Kia techs on here
