Ah, the John Delorean business model.

    8 years * .25 million = 2 million 123 million in debt Math doesn't work out.

$7k can get you a pretty nice used car. $2/gal gas isn't Elio-friendly. They really needed gas to get expensive again.
  4. Banana website says it's a 93 chassis, and it seems to be a decent moneymaker. That was posted in September; seems hard to believe they'd sell it abruptly, and for only $3k. Scam. Bummer.
  5. Bargain of the century right here.
  6. ABT is a German racing team and parts company, This is a crude knock-off of something they do. AFAIK it's not one of their official liveries but there's enough pictures here of similar cars. I wouldn't call it tasteful or well executed but I also wouldn't ever call a Touareg "gorgeous," so...
  7. Give the house to me then, it's just a liability so I'll take if off your hands. Oh, you want me to take the mortgage too? No, I just want the house part. The mortgage is yours. OK, thanks, now I have a house that's worth $185k, it's an asset. You still owe the bank $235k, that's your liability. Make sense? The concept is the same even if you and me are the same person.
  8. It's a $185k asset. That was easy. Who says house values SHOULD do anything? There's no accounting rule that says that. Previous bad decisions don't warrant altering common vocabulary.

  10. The argument is the real asset, isn't it...
  11. Didn't mean to pick on you, just something I could quote to get in on the nergument.
  12. It doesn't matter if you own it outright; an asset is just something you have that has value, full stop. If you borrow $100k to buy a classic Porsche, you have an asset (the Porsche) and a liability (the bank note), and if you owned a business this is exactly how you'd record it on your balance sheet. This is literally accounting 101, which I know because that's the extent of the accounting I took in college. What are we arguing about again?
  13. I know people love to gripe about windows but honestly, it's a means to an end for me and it barely gets in the way. There were some quirks with the Win10 VPN settings that tripped me up but troubleshooting that took less than an hour, and that was like a year ago. Since Win7 I've just upgraded to the latest version as soon as it's come out and gotten on with my life, spend a few days getting used to the quirks, figure out the fastest way to get to youporn and off you go.
  14. So much this. The "200" tw tire range has improved so much that I'm considering not wasting time with baby r-comps anymore. Fun story, last spring I decided to be a lazy fuck and not swap out my wheels between days 1 and 2 at mid-ohio. No rain and daytime temps were in the 60s so I didn't think anything of it. Well, early morning driving to the track, temp was around 40, my NT01s were hard as rock and the ass end came around on the 270 - 71N ramp. Point being that even a summer car might accidentally see temperatures that r-comps just weren't designed to operate in.
  15. I had a sudden desire today to join a karting country club. Example, MCC in Cincinnati. Anyone have any experience with them? Is there anything closer?
  16. Heh, just let me have this Just get rid of Jesse's dad, he's participating in frequent armed robberies, just say he bought the damn car himself and let's skip the daddy issues. Damn, good question. Even Vince has made a reappearance in the movies. Apparently Leon's career went down the shitter and never recovered.
  17. I guess not so much the fact that it was a Jetta, but more the fact that he was supposed to have any credibility while drag racing a full-weight street Jetta on rubber band street tires and expecting to do anything but get stomped. Like, just swap his car with the yellow R33 driven by the no-name 5th member of the crew and everything makes a whole lot more sense, the only thing that Skyline does is hold the police scanner up off the ground.
  18. Letty drives an S14 (?), Vince the Villain drives the Maxima and does a really sweet FWD burnout while making choo choo noises. Turbo V6 Maxima? Best not to wonder about these things The Jetta also stuck out to me, Jesse's dad's Jetta no less. Visualize the win.
  19. The WRX was barely out at the time and hadn't really taken off with tuners, and in North America Subaru was basically the Outback company. The whole import drag scene never made any sense, even though I was a part of it and I loved (and still love) the versatility and cost to operate of those old Civics. That's one of the things that makes this movie so endearing, I think. There's no Mustangs or Camaros out there making everyone look like idiots for spending 30 grand to run 12s. It's so innocent. The one RWD V8 car in the whole movie is declared to be "too scary for even Dominic Toretto to drive." Even though it'd almost be mundane at your typical Friday night drags.
  20. I didn't go that far but I did do this: http://i.imgur.com/xYyBbdJh.jpg At the Lennox there was no parking lot car show to speak of, though. Hardly anyone there. The audio was broken, I went out to complain but there's like 3 teenagers running the joint and nobody could figure it out. Got comp tickets but it still sucks, I dragged a bunch of friends to this who had never seen it and they missed all of the amazing dialog. One of the worthless teenagers told me, "I think it's just cause it's so old." First of all, it's not that old, secondly the previews had fucked up audio too so it's not the film, thirdly I don't care why the audio is broken, if you can't display a movie properly because it's too old then don't advertise it and charge me money. I was surprised at how well it holds up as a cult film.
  21. Well I'm a developer, my entire job is automating things so that people can be lazier and more productive at the same time. Let's not get hasty here But as I mentioned in my first reply, we are working harder. Smarter too. But the data shows that we're working harder, for sure. So I think there's a disconnect there that you've got to sort out.
