also i ponder this question. while LT's hpipe new catback is quite obviously the ideal setup....what if i just stuck with my current setup. shorty headers. stock cats stock y. magnaflow catback. are we talking about strictly a horsepower difference? or will it be detrimental to my engine and cause damage? will it send my gas mileage to shit? what are the cons of keeping my current setup. i'm not stupid i'm already looking into getting the macs so don't jump down my throat for asking. i would just like to know theoretically what WOULD happen if i kept my current setup.
-
Aaron i very much enjoyed your response just now. some people just like to be dicks when they say things. you said the same thing but you explained why and made it make sense. this is valuable to me. quit being cheap is not valuable to me. so on your theory of being only as efficient as the smallest part. what if i had a 3 inch y pipe custom made for me? cuz i could get LT's hpipe and a new catback for about 800. i could get the LTs for prob less than 300 and then the y pipe for less than 500 right? so it'd def cost me less than 800 i would estimate. however, would this custom y pipe also be futile? should i just pay the few hundred more for the full setup? or would a custom y pipe make sense? also Jcroz if you'd like to name drop who your mac dealer is i'd appreciate it.
-
because i don't wanna drop 500 on another catback when i already have one thats perfectly fine (STOP BEING A DOUCHE). anyone want to answer my question rather than give negative comments? i'd really appreciate some information in relation to my questions. if you have a negative comment about me, my 6 cylinder car, my future goals and how i plan on reaching them, please keep them to yourself. constructive criticism like what Jcroz and Pontiacfreak have been giving is welcome. actually answering my question is welcome as well.
-
well i like your plan gearhead, however, i am already invested in this plan so i'm gonna roll with it. my question has not been answered. an hpipe is not an answer to my question because i specifically said an hpipe will not work! please someone actually answer my question "o what i'm trying to find out and no one is answering lol is can i get LT's and NOT an hpipe? because my catback which i dropped 500 for fits onto a ypipe. its not like the GT's where its true dual two seperate pieces. it fits onto a y pipe and i don't want to redo my entire exhaust for $ reasons and because i love how my magnaflows sound. SO! someone answer me! lol. can i buy the MAC LT's and SOMEHOW fit them onto my y pipe after the cats are cut off? do i need a new y pipe? ideally i don't want to go LT's hpipe new catback. so what are my options keeping my current catback?"
-
thank you for your words and advice aaron. and thanks to gearhead for informing me catless=legal.... i had no idea! thats sweet! @ supergtp....wish i could get heads and cam lol. i am going to have enough money for this project. i just am looking to spend as little as possible. right now counting everything i have and need i need to spend 1400 more $. very doable for me. somewhere around a grand for install and tune. so 2400. add in meth make it 2700. add in LT's and hpipe for 300 means 3000 THEN i would need a new catback $400 so thats 3400. so thats an extra grand right there. so what i'm trying to find out and no one is answering lol is can i get LT's and NOT an hpipe? because my catback which i dropped 500 for fits onto a ypipe. its not like the GT's where its true dual two seperate pieces. it fits onto a y pipe and i don't want to redo my entire exhaust for $ reasons and because i love how my magnaflows sound. SO! someone answer me! lol. can i buy the MAC LT's and SOMEHOW fit them onto my y pipe after the cats are cut off? do i need a new y pipe? ideally i don't want to go LT's hpipe new catback. so what are my options keeping my current catback?

it seems like i don't need meth. but the guy from super six told me in a personal email "you'll need a meth kit for proper cooling" key word being need...so idk. feels like i should get it. plus if it didn't matter it would just make my car more efficient. lower temperature is always better. in the future i want a torque converter, right now i can't afford it with this initial setup though. need more $. maybe the summer after this one. this mac dealer sounds intriguing i'm gonna check it out if i decide to go that way. reynoldsburg = home of ricers. it makes it alot of fun to have a mustang. theoretically because of $ or for whatever reason lets say i couldn't get the LT's. could i just have someone make me straight pipes to connect my shorty headers to the stock y pipe after the cats are cut out? isn't that just the same thing as LT's? how much would that cost me? also lets say my dad who TECHNICALLY owns the car wants it street legal. should i get high flow cats? are they an improvement over the stock cats? or should i just not bother?

awesome pm'd you. so that means that the longtubes wouldn't work with the stock ypipe?
-
to each their own indeed. 17's to 14's makes me happy so i'ma roll with that. your srt went from 14's to 12's? 11's? thats awesome man. i'm jealous of that. my buddy has an srt4 and when i see/hear it i jizz in my pants. but i love my car all the same and when its around 14.0 instead of the 15.5 it is now and 17 it was i'm gonna love it even more. ricers go from 18's to 16's and think their car is a Lamborghini. to each their own.

thanks for the advice all. looks like i'll be saving some money and skipping out on the meth. when i first bought the car i drove it like a grandma and it got 13mpg. my dad's best friend is good with cars so we did alot of stuff with it like clean out the fuel system and shit like that. anything basic that could be cleaned or changed we did it and after getting my cold air intake i got about 15-16 mpg. after my gears and 93 octane + tune i get about 17mpg but thats driving it hard. taking it easy i could definitely make 20mpg cuz every 5 tanks or so i hit that. i've only driven my car twice since summer cuz i'm at school but over break i'ma take her nice and easy and get a solid 20mpg. i think with a good tune aiming at decent mpg with the supercharger i won't go much under what i already am at. (p.s. gary you're gonna love those 410's mine made a CRAZY big difference) last time i checked a mustang gt of my year has 260bhp...not rwhp. and 300>260 anyways. also i love my sixer. i'm proud of it and it'll make me proud to know i went from being so slow to decently fast, faster than a stock gt (should be atleast). V8>V6 and we all know it. if i wanted the fastest car possible i'd sell my car and buy an evo 9 or something and mod the shit out of it. but i like my 3.8 v6 mustang. its just what i wanna do. with the longtubes....will they fit onto the stock y pipe? like cut out the cats and then they just fit right on? or do i have to buy something to connect the two or what?
-
stock boost which i'm not sure what that is but i'm guessing like 7-8ish psi?
-
well. i don't wanna turbo it because i already have like 1/3 of the parts including the m112 for this. and then also the cheapest TMA kit is 3400 and this is gonna cost me 2400. as for the cam thats gonna be more pricey than i want. i was going to run meth because Super Six recommended that i do and sonic is as well. so i just figured it was the thing to do. you feel its unnecessary? can you explain why? i really wanna go with longtubes. lets say i can't. would high flow cats be good?
-
well right now i drive like a crazy man and i get about 15mpg so i know what its like to have 1 tank last one week. and my parents pay for gas till i'm out of school so thats like 4 years free gas unless they go bankrupt because i use so much gas lol so. i think 13-15 will be acceptable enough for me. shitty as it is...it will be acceptable. in terms of exhaust i have bbk shorty headers stock cats and y pipe and magnaflow catback. should i invest in high flow cats or LT's? if so why? is it really worth the extra $ ?
-
okay i feel you. that sounds better i was worried for a minute lol. any suggestions for better gas mileage over your setup? would you reccommend getting the underdrive pulleys that you have or no?
-
ya i think i'm just gonna accept whatever i can get with just the blower, no new pulley, no cam. too much money and too much risk to kill my car. have you had problems since you m112'd yours? you said youre giving up on it is that cuz its killing your car? or what?

@ Gary - I'm not sure what stock boost is. 7-8ish maybe? my long term plan is basically this. because as i mentioned i want a daily driver. while i'd love to make this into an 11 second monster i would have horrible gas mileage at that point and i can't do that. @everyone - sounds like the blower pulley is not the way to go with the stock internals, which i feared, thank you for the advice. @ Jcroz - "i was quoted $350 for the cam an then with springs, rods, and retainers it came out to about $650-$700 in parts then about $700 or $800 for the install." on their price listing thing it says 400. so youre telling me i have to fet the srpings, rods, retainers and drop 650--700 for it? then double that for install? cuz damn. if thats true i can NOT put a cam on my car. also. what kind of gas mileage (mpg) do you have with your setup? and how would a cam change that (for better or for worse?)
-
Its gonna happen this june. In the mean time i need to figure out the exact details so i can choose what to buy. I have 2 options. Cam. Or blower pulley. The pulley is cheaper by about $200 but i really am clueless to the performance difference and i'm also hoping to have somewhat reasonable gas mileage as this is going to be my daily drive for years to come. for the pulley: http://www.billetflow.com/supercharger_pulleys.htm Typical boost gains over stock pulley (3.65") 1.5-2.5 lbs. 3.400" 3.5-4.5 lbs. 3.100" 5-6 lbs. 2.930" 6-7 lbs. 2.760" or should i go with a Cam from Super Six Motorsports? whats the difference between Cam vs. More psi. In terms of performance (rwhp etc) and gas mileage (gonna kill it? gonna help it? no difference?) also is either thing gonna be harmful in the long run? like will more psi blow up my motor? thanks for the help. In case you need to know the M112 conversion kit consists of M112 from an 03 Cobra. Cobra Throttle Body and Plenum. JLT Cobra Cold Air Intake. Super six motorsports adapter plate. 39lb Cobra fuel injectors. 310lph Fuel pump from VMP tuning. Cobra 90mm MAF. and Water/Meth Kit

okay. is there a certain type of tread or something that makes a good tire? or a brand name? also. captainsrtgaypants i wasn't addressing you or responding to your comment i was posting a general question. as this is a thread for me to ask for suggestions about my car.
-
how do i know what wheels and tires would be good for my car? i want black saleen 18X9 and 18X10 wheels front and back respectively. the tires would be http://www.americanmuscle.com/18x9-99-04-tires.html on the front and i'm sure something similiar on the back. is that a good setup? should i just buy sweet tires for my stock 16's (i think? or 15's). what would be some examples of "sweet tires." i want tires that make me fast....i don't care about winter time.
-
beer, good for you my friend. my parents bought my car for 7000. guess they should have found a better deal. i've paid for the rest of the mods (or will have when i have them all) so for me personally i'll be out about 4500 dollars. which is what you paid for youre gt. and our cars will be equal. so i'm okay with that. wagner, this ninja kid named tyler chose to talk shit to me. that is what happened. but its okay. this is a good thread if he chooses to stop. Gearhead: 4.2 truck motor + turbo = THE SHIT!!!!!! that car is my idol lol. but when it comes down to it. i'm supercharging my car for 2500-3000. most basic turbo kit from tmaturbo.com is $3,470 + truck motor price + other shit i don't know about + install + tune = prob twice as much as i'm paying to supercharge. is an extra 3000 dollars worth running an 11.1? YES! do i have 3000 dollars extra? NO! lol

thank you for your words gary, i will be enjoying the hell out of my mustang this summer and for years after. i don't care if i get beat by cars that cost more than mine. when its all said and done my car will have had spent on it about 11,500. and will be running in the low 14's high 13's at 75,000 miles. cars slower than that with more miles (like wrx's) cost that much or more. so i'll be happy with my investment. what you said about expecting 13.5: the internet is a bitch lol. i though exhaust and cold air would put me in the 14's at one point......nope lol. as for sirtalksalot. sometimes its necessary for v6 mustang owners to say stupid shit like. i'm gonna run a 12.5. so that we can learn that this is false, and no longer be stupid. i don't care if you spent all your money on tires and suspension for your honda accord so that you can run a faster time than me. if you did youre a fucking moron. if you haven't spent a dime on your accord then youre a fucking moron to say that it would beat my blown v6 mustang. that is just an arrogant statement because you're trying to sound sweet cuz i insulted you for being a ninja.

sonic stang: "and my car ran 16.4 stock with an auto trans. and 14.3 is an average et for me now. i only ran a 14.09 once." that is something to be proud. stock automatic v6 mustang is SLOWWWWWWWWWW. 14.3 isn't blowing anyone away. but i remember i raced a stock wrx when i only had a cold air intake (basically no different from stock) and he smoked the balls off of me. he beat me so bad that i thought i might as well drive a minivan. stock wrx runs a 14.4 sonic ran a 14.3. so in my eyes thats pretty impressive. not to mention if i throw a cam on which i'm seriously considering i will run in the 13's. that is a humongous difference. 1 year and 3 months ago when i got my car it was a present from my parents and it was slow. 8 months from now i will have a very respectable car that is 100 times better than when it started. maybe when i don't have to pay for school and have a real job i'll buy something with 8 cylinders or a turbo, but i don't know many people my age with a car that runs in the 13's. so for me its something to be proud of. i'm not a moron. i know that i'll never touch a terminator cuz almost no one keeps those things stock. i doubt i will ever beat a lightly modded srt4. but i don't care. i really don't. please feel free to talk about how awesome your cars are and how worthless my car is in this thread. i don't really care. i posted this to ask for suggestions on what to do and where to go. not to hear some faggot named tyler who is a professional ninja talk shit because he feels like he can cuz he's 19 and spends his life on the internet. cool dude. gary should be proud of his car too. that is all.

13.4 second vortech v6 12.6 second m112 v6 12.9 second m112 v6 with the m112 and cam 13.4 seconds is not unreasonable. so 14.8 was wrong but 14.3 http://www.dragtimes.com/Ford-Mustang-Timeslip-10137.html 14.1 with exhaust mods http://www.dragtimes.com/Ford-Mustang-Timeslip-5401.html all the times i've seen with stock or lightly modded gt's are within .1 of these times. also. why would a stock v6 beat a modded v6. thats retarded. i've raced and beat a honda civic si who said he ran a 15.1 at the track. a stock 4.0 v6 does NOT run a 15.1.
-
also i was considering a cam anyways....this makes me consider it alot more. thank you sonic.
-
when i signed up for this website it said cops were on here. so no. of course i will not race you for money. pm me lol. as for GT's they have 260bhp not rwhp, and run a 14.8 stock. so you kinda shit on stock gt's.
