Cybe - nice machine by the way. Way better travel than what I am working with. I have always wanted one of these and figured it would be a good step before jumping into a 5 axis or something more expensive.

The only thing this did not come with was a CPU to run it. It does have what looks to be an on board computer with a DB25/parallel port plug on the back. Basically it is a HF bench mill with an aftermarket conversion. It came with the book the guy used to put it all together and seems to be a fairly common retrofit. To your point, yes I do need to get it cleaned up and start making a list of all the parts that are on there then I can start researching what CPU and software would work best. It did come with a few cds, but mach3 seems to be the standard.
-
Does anyone have experience with this? I picked this up this weekend from someone who has no experience with it. I need to sell the cnc stuff and use it as a hand mill or figure out which software to use and have some fun with it. Everything works, I just need to figure out the computer part.

Goodbye radiator support. Once the transmission mount is fabbed up I can start on the fun stuff.
-
Yeah, been working on my E30 instead of eBaying. I am keeping the springs/MM kit though.
-
The motor is removed to remove the radiator support. I will be bolting the trans back on and putting them both in together. Also almost finished collecting parts for my black interior swap.

I'm coming in to town for it. Drinking all day Saturday and going to the game Sunday. I got a deal on lower bowl tickets I could't pass on.
-
I will be in town and Saturday (1/24) morning will work best if anyone wants this stuff. Will drop the price since I can deliver and save on shipping and paypal.

If you do that just make sure it stays in Wisconsin

What do you want out of parting it out? Most money? Least Hassle? Parts going to a good home? I parted out 2 540i BMWs to use parts off of for my E30 build and fund it. Parting out is a pain in the ass, but for a car like the E39 5 series (or B5 in your case) there are a ton of them on the road and many times people would prefer to buy a known good part for 1/2 the price of something new. For the advice on parting out, you don't NEED the money so play hardball and you can make some serious cash back. I should have my V8 E30 fully funded including tools and hopefully paint by the time I am done parting out the two cars I bought. At this point for me it isn't about the money it is about being able to say I built this car for 0$ total invested (and a billion hours of work).

Is it doable? Sure, but I have been driving my truck when I know it is going to snow. If you check out the Facebook CTS-V group whenever it snows 1-2 people wreck theirs and post about it.

Trying to make progress battling through the Wisconsin winter. Next on my list was get rid of the donor car so I have more room for the upcoming fab work. Anyway this is the second 540 I am chopping up. The 12" blade made all the difference the second time around. This was less than 2 hours behind the saw. Front clip is off, B pillar gone, front windshield all the way to the rear glass. I should have it to the scrap yard by Saturday then a quick clean/regroup before I bring in the welder and reinforce the subframe, fab the exhaust manifold, mount the remote brake booster (E34), fab the extended transmission mount, and fab the brackets after I remove the radiator support. In the stock form the you need to drop the motor in from above then bring up the trans from the bottom.

It looks like I will be coming to town for the All-Star game of anyone is interested in any of this stuff.

For what it is worth my experience with the CTS-V is that it is garbage in the snow, even with snow tires. Cold weather is fine, but with snow on the ground it is near impossible keeping it straight on the highway. Great car 97% of the time, but I would not recommend buying one if it was your only car. I have started driving my truck to work unless I have a client meeting.

I moved, but come back pretty often. It was on a LS6 for 3,000 miles. He put it on his car and let me keep the rail/injectors when he was done. To my knowledge this is direct bolt on for a LS6 and needs a $40 connector (to make the LS6 injectors work) to work on the LS2. No axels included. Basically this is what I have: http://www.bmrsuspension.com/?page=products&vehicleid=8&maincatid=68&catid=202 http://www.bmrsuspension.com/?page=products&productid=424&superpro=0 (with bushings)

I bought this for my LS2 CTS-V, but will likely be selling it in the spring so I am testing the waters. Ported Wilson 92MM FAST Intake Manifold (supposedly $500 into the port alone) Ported LS2 Throttle Body LS6 Fuel Rail & Injectors LS6 Throttle Body Adapter This is supposedly good for 30-40 wheel on a LS2 Ill get pictures up soon. I'd like to get $1200. I'll cover paypal fees and shipping. I also have H&R springs + a MM kit, BMR bushings, wheel hop kit, and trailing arms. PM if interested.

I ended up ordering a slim 10" sub that will be open air and am going to use an amp I have that I found in a truck I bought. It will be better than the empty whole there now and likely better than OEM, I'll update once installed. Does anyone have an extra DVD disc? I know the system is garbage, but I get sick of seeing the music screen all the time.

Let me know if you want someone to drive it back for you...

300hp/300tq from the 5 series. My original plan was to build this then try my hands at a m5 motor but I'll decide once this one is on the road. The transmissions are the same between the two donor cars so it will still be the 6 speed.

No pictures, but finally figured out my motor mount problem which was stopping me from moving forward. Now I can make the exhaust manifolds (tight fit), get the driveshaft shortened, start on the booster relocation, and wiring. I also decided to make the radiator support removable which will be another undertaking, but worth it with how big the motor and trans are.

For v bands and mandrel bent pipe? Definitely not in store. Someone linked to a company that had awesome prices for intercoolers and I thought there may be something similiar that people could recommend for this.
-
I have to modify the exhaust manifold on my v8 e30 and will be reusing the old exhaust with some minor modifications. Is there a good place online for random bends and flanges? I was considering v-band, but will likely use standard based on pricing.
