Big ol Saugeye for anyone who cares about fishing
acklac7 replied to TurboRust's topic in Pics and Vids
lulz, I take it you are 93stratosfishnski on OGF? Shit you should have said something, I would have gave you the low-down on S-eye in exchange for those Wiper spots on Griggs . Nice fish. -
Beat me to it, knew him fairly well. Actually was ballin with him up at Hastings 5-6 years ago and lol'd because im a good 2" taller then him and he's listed @ 6'6 (im 6'5). Also does he drive around in a Viper now? I swear i've seen him cruzin on riverside a number of times...

+1 Exercise and a decent diet goes a long way.
-
Not that I know him or anything but he started some thread in the "Romper room" entitled "JEWS!" (thought it was a joke, it was removed within an hour) and that was the last I seen of him here. After looking at his website I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the news... In all seriousness though Chase probably hit him with 3 or 4 unjustified overdraft fee's and he got a little pissed off...

Ha that place is still around!? I went there all the time growing up, sort of funny, the waitress got an attitude with my Aunts (who were in from out of town and didn't "get it") - a massive catfight ensued and we ended up leaving after 5min
-
will do, thanks again.
-
Yea was debating on starting this thread due to that very reason. The first few times I used the acct I had to give them the acct # etc. Hopefully this deters word of mouth outside of CR.
-
Thats why I go to Roberts rd store. I always get great service, people there always know wtf they're talking about and im always in and out of there fast. To be honest I really don't care that much about a discount, shit I never even mention the CR account unless im spending $30+, but who doesn't like saving money?. When I do mention it and the price doesn't change I don't say a word, I know that industry is prone to seeing alot of customers with attitudes: I aint one of 'em. And I know it's a business, not a charity. I guess I sorta thought that the main reason(s) behind a Corporate account was two fold: offer members the lowest possible price on each and every item such that they don't have to waste time shopping around for the best deal, and in doing so expect to get 100% of there business in order to offset the discount. Maybe im wrong. Sorry if I pissed you off, wasn't my intent. My intent was to find out if anyone else was having problems with the acct, and in the process (re)-inform people that it was there. Not sure how the whole account thing works but im guessing more sales = increased discount? That said should I just put everything under CR? even the small stuff?
-
Yea I sorta figured that. However I have gotten a number of different things from tools to parts to accessories in the past couple months and when put under account the prices never changes on any of them.
-
Will do, ugh I wish he worked @ Roberts, it's like 5min away.
-
First off this is more of an inquiry then a complaint (I've been doing bidness with Oriely for a while now). Just wondering if anyone else is getting any discounts on there purchases? The past few times I have got parts/tools/accessories from them the price never changes when put under the CR account:confused: On a side note I went to autozone to get some line-wrenches and they looked at me like "what?" explained to the lady there what they were and she said she didn't stock them. Went to O'reilly and the woman there found them in about a minute http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif. Also got a starter from them a few months back and haven't had a single issue.
-
Keep in mind back then the head gasket / block issues were only just beginning to become widely known. Once the internet really took off basically everyone found out how wide-spread the issue was and prices dropped off the face of the earth. Sort of funny, I remember first reading about the gasket issues on Caddyinfo and Cadillacowners when they had like 50 members...Not sure how I missed this place for so long.

Last few times I have been in there management has appeared bewildered and stressed out. The Apple department has been a nightmare, I swear there were like 7 people standing around waiting inline for help (middle of a weekday), one of them actually asked the Micro Center guy "do you honestly only have one person working back here?" And then I went all they way over there for some conductive glue only to find out they scaled back the DYI repair section considerably.
-
correction, "was" a gangsta And honestly if you work on them yourself and have access to a FSM they really aren't that bad of a car, hence why I kept mine for 10 years.
-
The last 3 times I have been in there I left pissed off.
-
Ha, I was 18 when I got it, at the time I was right out of high school (2000) and the car was only 5 years old (paid $16,000 for it I think?). It was pretty much the cats-ass back then (same body style through '02 so you really couldn't tell it was 5 years old). I got pulled over / followed like it was my job. About a year or two after I purchased it I ran into all kinds of issues that would have cost me thousands to replace so I decided to work on it myself. Mind you at that point I had basically never worked on anything so it was a challenge to say the least. Thankfully that was right around the time most of the information boards began to pop up and with there help (and a FSM) I was able to basically fix most any/everything myself (destroyed a few things, *cough tranny*, in the process, but thats part of the learning process, right?). I guess you could say I became attached to it because it was so challenging and there was so much to learn? That and the fact that there were so many people dedicated to fixing them on the 'net, became sort of a passion I guess. Also my screen name (for basically like every board im on) is the name I had on my plates until about the 30th time I got pulled over - true story. And yea, if people need help on these cars let me know, I still have the service manuals and whatnot and have a fairly good understanding of what goes wrong with them and why http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/community/images/smilies/redface.gif. http://i52.tinypic.com/2yzk2tx.jpg

I'd argue most of those sensors and strange maintenance issues were more the result of the person working on the car then the car itself. Without a FSM (factory service manual) those cars are a bastard to work on. Definitely take a look at the brake lines in the upper rear wheel-wells, thats where mine blew, the rest looked decent. Miniscule visual coolant leaks are not typically a sign of headgasket failure and can usually be remedied with bars-leak (added to the radiator-hose and not the coolant bottle). The exception is the pipe running along the firewall near the rear of the engine, it's a pain to replace. Last I checked it was never a big problem. The only real way to diagnose the head gaskets is to run a cylinder leak down test. If it fails then it's almost surely the head gasket / head bolts rather then the rings. As for the oil leaks nothing significant, seepage more then anything, few drips here, few drips there..just people bitch about them so much.
-
Just want to add that other then the headgaskets/oil leaks the N* (and 4t80e) is one hell of an Engine/Transmission. In the 10 years I owned my Eldorado I mashed it to 6500rpm's hundreds, maybe thousands of times - rock solid. Shame on GM for not addressing the gasket/block issues until it was too late...
-
92-95 STS/Seville's are sweet, for $500 it could be a steal. How well do you know your friend? Reason I ask is most of the time you see 90's Caddy's listed for that low the gaskets (well really the block) has already begun to fail and will require a massive overhaul to get fixed ($2000+). At that point the cost of the repair is usually more then the car itself so the car is more or less worthless. Other then the headgaskets those caddys can be decent rides, transmission is sound (other then the shift solenoids, which are easy to replace) and you can find a decent amount of parts @ the junkyard(s). And yea, you can't fit your fist anywhere in the engine bay, total pain in the ass to work on, then again what luxury car isn't...

A Pull so hard you get an out of body experience.

If you buy the right Porsche you get to have your cake and eat it too; essentially you get paid to drive. Late model year 993's will only appreciate in value, especially the '97's. You get to roll a bad ass car and literally get paid to drive it.. Never forget the story of the old man's 911: drove it everywhere, dated basically whomever, spent a couple thousand in repairs.... Then, 6 years later, sold it no-problem for $6500 over the inflation/repair-adjusted bb purchase price...can you say the same thing about the Vette?
-
And uglier. 1997 993 with the Gemballa package and some mods and call it a day. http://i56.tinypic.com/l8w3p.jpg

alright say he (tech) comes back to me and says "fixed the problem, battery was bad" when based on my education (and some experience) bad batteries don't usually cause intermittent starting issues. Do I challenge his diagnosis? I mean it seems like alot of S.A's dont know shit about cars (from what i've heard), that said wouldn't most techs take a comment/question about a diagnosis as an insult?
