Damn, I'm in the market for a new jacket and that top left one is pretty spiffy IMO, but I'm a medium. I'll eat a few extra plates at Thanksgiving and see what I can do, lol.

So I was drunk all weekend and wasn't able to follow along with the thread during the game. If you watched Gameday, my crew was the Captain Barrett (Captain Morgan 'shop) and "Jordan Belfort wouldn't do a line off an MSU girl" sign. We got there around 4:30 and left at about 10. We're in every single shot with Kirk Herbstreit for the first hour. Regarding the game, I 100% echo the previous comments. MSU is a solid defense, we knew the game was going to be close. Our playcalling was abysmal though. The one 3 and out that REALLY stuck with me though was after a HUGE stop by our D as MSU was driving, when we had the ball at around our 6 or something, and we're calling a fucking sweep shovel pass after a QB draw. Did Beck not want to win the game or something? QB runs are more effective with someone like JT when they're not designed, this isn't middle school pee-wee football here. Our defense played lights out. This game very well could have been a 21 point victory for the Spartans and our offense is solely to blame. I'm also a little upset at Urban not calling a timeout on Sparty's last drive. We absolutely should have called one when we had them at 3rd and 8 around the middle of the field, we desperately needed a stop and some time on the clock and that was our chance to regroup and focus. Sure enough, we get an offsides penalty and MSU gets a first down. Anyway, Monday morning rambling. We're not completely out of playoff contention yet, but we need help now, so it's not looking good. I'll be cheering on the Hawkeyes for the rest of the year.

I hope this year is enough to push the committee to the fast-lane for expansion to 8 team playoffs.

I truly feel bad for the Big XII. The committee is making a statement that it does not give a single fuck about that conference and they WILL be left out, unless everyone else loses. I'm okay with Bama moving up now that they have a signature win, but they STILL have a loss - we can argue quality losses at the end of the season, but for now, we still have at least 4 respectable unbeatens. Notre Dame's is the only one that I can even remotely see being overlooked at the moment, strictly because of who they lost to, and by how much. They don't need any excuses, simply put, a 2-point loss to the best team in the country. Even still, we have 4 better choices AT THE MOMENT, IMO: 1.) Clemson - Passes the eye test, arguably the most complete team in the country. Couple signature wins. 2.) Ohio State - With JT at the helm, the team looks solid on both sides of the ball. No real meaningful wins yet, but they've also won every game fairly soundly. 3.) Baylor - Their OOC schedule may be weak, but they've absolutely shit on everyone they've played, other than Kansas State. One game isn't enough to claim that they're overrated, especially when they're still undefeated. 4.) Oklahoma State - Weak OOC schedule as well, but they have arguably the single best win on anyone's resume at the moment, over TCU. However, they've also had several close games with bad teams. First four out: 1.) Iowa - Lots of close games, but still undefeated. Not the worst schedule in the world, either. Not convinced that they could hang with anyone above them. 2.) Alabama - The LSU game showed a much more dominant side of Alabama that I really haven't seen this whole season. They still have a loss, and they're still a handful of plays away from losing to Tennessee, but they're no denying that they're one of the 3 best 1-loss teams in the country. 3.) Notre Dame - Here's where things get harder to argue. Their only loss is incredibly close to the #1 team, but they also don't really have any big wins. Texas, Georgia Tech, and USC all ended up being mediocre teams. 4.) Stanford - Other than Northwestern and Wazzu, they've also shit on everyone they've played. Their only quality win at the moment is UCLA, though.

On the bright side, taking the West Virginia turnpike is 100% worth it. Suuuuper fun road, fairly smooth for the most part, and I've got a feeling that the cops intentionally don't sit there much, other than the construction zones (which is understandable). Went down to Myrtle Beach back in September and held about 85 the entire way through the state, that was the speed of traffic lol.

Haven't you predicted OSU to lose every single game? Shut up. I would post the exact same things about Alabama with or without you on this board. Their dick is so far down the playoff committee's throat, it's ridiculous.
-
So if we apply the Bama method of ranking, all they need is a loss and they'll be top 4.
-
Any chance you saw what kind/color the bike was? I'm close with a lot of the sportbikers (squids, lol), but haven't heard anything in my groups.

I would not be surprised to see Alabama win this Saturday, but I see the Tide losing at least one more game. In a complete clusterfuck turn of events, Ole Miss wins out and goes to the SECCG, forcing the playoff committee to either renege their words about CGs being heavily weighted, or keeping the SEC out of the playoff.
-
Yeah, and that's a real shitty stance to take. IMO, any of the P5 unbeatens have a better argument for #4, and even Memphis. If we're going with a 1-loss team, let's go with Notre Dame or Stanford, since they're both playing lights out right now (and ND's loss is by one possession in a sloppy rain game to another top 4 team). If we're going to go with SEC, let's go with Florida, who's only loss is to a top 4 team, and beat the team that beat Alabama. Alabama doesn't even belong in the top 10. A loss to a team that's proving to be a punching bag, a close game to an unranked turd, and no real signature wins? Get the fuck out of here.
-
Jive, tell us why Alabama deserves #4. We need some laughs.

Same thing. Please reference the Duke lacrosse case. Grossly rushed punishments resulted in a few people losing their jobs and some kids' college years were absolutely ruined by an incorrect, hasty decision.
-
Athletic performance aside, yes. I realize that this route would likely put his suspension punishment at the MSU or UM game, but morally, that's a more correct route to take in my eyes. Don't we (the collective social justice keyboard warrior hivemind of the internet) get mad at people ALL THE TIME for prematurely casting judgement? I don't believe he should be punished for anything until found guilty in a court of law.
-
I don't agree with it. For one, it's hasty. Until the court date, he's not technically guilty of anything. There may be some unpublicized facts about the night that may get his case thrown out or get the stop deemed illegal or no probable cause for FSTs/breathalyzer or whatever. Likely? No. Possible? Absolutely. So regardless of the outcome, we should at least wait until after the court date to punish him. Further, his punishment will come from the courts. Amateur football suspensions should not be a form of justice. If he's not allowed to reap the benefits of being a celebrity, he shouldn't suffer the public spotlight punishment side of being "held to a higher standard", either. Tl;dr, this is a legal issue, not a football issue. He broke exactly 0 school/NCAA rules.
-
The NCAA has no pre-stated involvement in DUIs/OVIs, actually. Prove me wrong and I'll buy you lunch ($10). Of course, they're GOING to get involved because it's a star player celebrity and it's a chance for them to look good. You know, cuz they're unpaid amateurs that people throw money around for some reason that the NCAA refuses to acknowledge. EDIT: Urban Meyer confirmed that this suspension is NOT a school rule.
-
Everything I've read says that misdemeanors are not against school rules. So while he did a terrible thing, he did not violate anything that he "agreed" to in playing for OSU.
-
Yeah, this is why I'm a little upset. If we want to officially call college ball an amateur sport, then it's a little unfair to hold them to any higher standard than anything that a "normal" student would be. Further, the game suspension that Urban gave him isn't even in the school/team policies, from what I've read. Again, I'm NOT justifying it, I'm just saying that we have a legal system that applies just punishments, and football should not be the moral dictator here. And again, he's not technically guilty of anything yet, just cited for it.
-
Am I the only one around here who thinks the DUI should not have ANY impact on his career at OSU as a student or athlete? For Christ's sake, if he wasn't a celebrity, this non-injury DUI wouldn't even be a story (I'm not justifying his actions, just saying that dozens of people are arrested every night for this exact same thing and nobody cares). He'll get his punishment from the legal system, just like everyone else. Furthermore, he's not technically guilty of anything until his court date, which is at least a few weeks out. For all we know, some previously unknown plot twist about the whole night might come out. Likely? Probably not. Possible? Absolutely.

Baylor playoff hopes done for season.

I'll take Ole Miss over TAMU, because chaos. Upset picks: Virginia Tech over Duke USC over Utah... sadly. Honestly don't see too much action this weekend. I'm more interested in the Memphis, Toledo, and Houston games than anything else. Oklahoma vs. Texas Tech might be a good game too, but both teams are wildly inconsistent and could either score 0 or 93. Tennessee vs Alabama, Miami vs Clemson, Florida State vs Georgia Tech are all worth watching I guess, but the outcomes seem pretty obvious.

This would have been badass back in 2009 or whenever they started teasing it, but I can't help but think it looks like a new-gen Accord with a spoiler on it now. Hope the numbers are right though!
