I see this type of thinking to be a short term band aid and dangerous long term wise. It sustains businesses that have poor budgeting, over paying employees, or are not continually improving their business product/s which fosters poor long term sustainability. The tech boom of the 80-90s is proof the even though there are monopolies, quality product and innovation can over come. The only thing that is guaranteed in life is too be born and to die, anything else icing on the cake. Social/corporate welfare could be fazed out over a 5 year span and either put back in peoples pocket or towards making any state/tech school free for citizens in order to promote development.

Something that impressed me, was low key Tony Hawk and Christian Hosoi were. They would show up randomly at the Hickam Hanger skate park and acted like normal people(before the base took it over and ruined it). You wouldn't realize they were there until you would see someone drop a 540 out of no where. No press, groupies, or entourages... just regular guys putting in work. What is interesting is how some pro skates stayed focused and revolutionized the sport while others got caught up in murders, drug distribution, etc.

something that never gets discussed and likely receives way more money is corporate welfare. I can't imagine how much tax credits/waivers big oil companies receive today.

the problem is that you will an onslaught of liberals saying it will throw us in another recession and it will create more problems in society. New Orleans revamped their welfare program in the late 90's by forcing people to either go to school or get a job.... greatly improved the lives of family members who had milked the system for 5-10 years by eliminating the safety net.

agreed. My strategy this year is to put salt out before it starts snowing bad, quick shovel the next day, another round of salt, repeat as needed. It has helped this winter and I haven't had any bad ice patches so far.
