  1. Fixed it, thanks..... Cool, glad it was easy.
  2. Thanks! Happy to help, was it an easy fix?
  3. In the almost 20 years since I started doing Solo (autocross) I have always wanted to attend the SCCA Solo Nationals......well this year, I get my shot..... I give you the 2013 SCCA Solo National Championship http://www.scca.com/events/index.cfm?eid=5489 Here are 2 videos from 2011 and 2012 to give an idea of what it's like.... I have always wanted to go, but have never had a car competitive enough to do so.....well this year I was able to get behind the wheel of a pretty competitive car for the Toledo Pro Solo and was able to place 3rd place out of a class of 21 cars (including 4 national championship drivers). After that event I was approached by a guy out of the Atlanta region and he asked me if I wanted to co-drive his car at Nationals this year.....well, this is an opportunity that I couldn't pass up..... Wife and I talked about it, and we made it work (this trip is not cheap). So Randall, the guy who asked me to co-drive, has an almost 100% prepped E36 328is that I will be driving...... Car I'm competing in.... As of right now STX, the class I am competing in, is the largest class with 65 drivers in the class....I think it is one of the biggest classes at Nationals in a couple of years....... So, why did I make this thread? I don't know....I just wanted to document and share my first trip to this event and hopefully give you all a 'behind the scenes' look of what it's like to make this journey.....Hopefully you enjoy it....... I will only be competing in the Solo Nationals, and not the Pro Solo Finals..... Pro Solo Finals starts on Saturday, August 31st and run Saturday and Sunday..... Monday is an 'off' day, and then the Solo Nationals run Tuesday-Friday (September 3-6). Here is how the competition works: Tue/Wed a certain amount of classes run and I run on Thurs/Fri...... -There is an East course and West course -You get three runs on one course (East or West), and then the following day you get three runs on the other course... -From there you combine your two best times together from the East course and West course, and your place is determined by the lowest times possible between the two..... They will also have a 'test and tune' course set-up on the opposite side of the airstrip, and I will doing a small test and tune on Wednesday with the Evolution Driving School from 12-2. The camaraderie that exists between all competitors is pretty cool, and hard to put into words until you go and experience it. It is a 12-13 hour drive out to Lincoln, Nebraska (Lincoln Airpark) where the competition is held. I will be driving out with a good friend from my local Ohio Valley Region and we will making the journey in his Mitsubishi EVO RS - for those unfamiliar with the 'RS' this has no AC, no radio, no sound deadening material.....it will be an interesting drive out to say the least...... ....so stay tuned if you like, and I will post updates throughout the week of September 2-7.........

  5. Friend sent this to me...cool read..... Acceleration explained............ * One Top Fuel dragster outfitted with a 500 cubic-inch replica Dodge (actually Keith Black, etc.) Hemi engine makes more horsepower (8,000 HP) than the first 4 rows of cars at NASCAR's Daytona 500. * Under full throttle, a dragster engine will consume 11.2 gallons of nitro methane per second; a fully loaded Boeing 747 consumes jet fuel at the same rate but with 25% less energy being produced. * A stock Dodge Hemi V8 engine cannot produce enough power to merely drive the dragster's supercharger. * With 3000 CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive, the fuel mixture is compressed into a near-solid form before ignition. Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lockup at full throttle. * At the stoichiometric 1.7:1 air/fuel mixture for nitro methane, the flame front temperature measures 7050 degrees F. * Nitro methane burns yellow. The spectacular white flame seen above the stacks at night is raw burning hydrogen, dissociated from atmospheric water vapor by the searing exhaust gases. * Dual magnetos supply 44 amps to each spark plug. Which is typically the output of an electric arc welder in each cylinder. * Spark plug electrodes are totally consumed during a pass. After 1/2 way thru the run, the engine is 'dieseling' from compression and the glow of the exhaust valves at 1400 degrees F. The engine can only be shut down by cutting the fuel flow. * If spark momentarily fails early in the run, unburned nitro builds up in the affected cylinders and then explodes with enough sufficient force to blow the cylinder heads off the block in pieces or split the block in half !! * Dragsters reach over 300 MPH +... before you have completed reading this sentence. * In order to exceed 300 MPH in 4.5 seconds, a dragster must accelerate an average of over 4 G's. In order to reach 200 MPH well before reaching half-track, at launch the acceleration approaches 8 G's. * Top Fuel engines turn approximately 540 revolutions from light to light! * Including the burnout, the engine must only survive 900 revolutions under load. * The redline is actually quite high at 9500 RPM. * THE BOTTOM LINE: Assuming all the equipment is paid for, the pit crew is working for free & NOTHING BLOWS UP, each run will cost an estimated $1,000 per second. 0 to 100 MPH in .8 seconds (the first 60 feet of the run) 0 to 200 MPH in 2.2 seconds (the first 350 feet of the run) 6 g-forces at the starting line (nothing accelerates faster on land) 6 negative g-forces upon deployment of twin 'chutes at 300 MPH An NHRA Top Fuel Dragster accelerates quicker than any other land vehicle on earth . . quicker than a jet fighter plane . . . quicker than the space shuttle....or snapping your fingers !! The current Top Fuel dragster elapsed time record is 4.420 seconds for the quarter-mile (2004, Doug Kalitta). The top speed record is 337.58 MPH as measured over the last 66' of the run (2005, Tony Schumacher). Let's now put this all into perspective: Imagine this...........You are driving a new $140,000 Lingenfelter twin-turbo powered Corvette Z-06. Over a mile up the road, a Top Fuel dragster is staged & ready to 'launch' down a quarter-mile strip as you pass. You have the advantage of a flying start. You run the 'Vette hard, on up through the gears and blast across the starting line & pass the dragster at an honest 200 MPH.... The 'tree' goes green for both of you at that exact moment. The dragster departs & starts after you. You keep your foot buried hard to the floor, and suddenly you hear an incredibly brutally screaming whine that seares and pummels your eardrums & within a mere 3 seconds the dragster effortlessly catches & passes you. He beats you to the finish line, a quarter-mile away from where you just passed him. Think about it – from a standing start, the dragster had spotted you 200 MPH.....and it not only caught, but nearly blasted you off the planet when he passed you within a mere 1320 foot long race !!!!
  6. These two have to be played simultaneously for full effect :lolguy:
  7. Awwww yea......the 614 is WIDE open for the taking! I was worried about the 'hoe' competition in this city, but this new information has really opened my eyes to the situation, thanks! :dumb:

http://autos.yahoo.com/news/bmw-drivers-really-are-jerks--studies-find-214456020.html Drivers of BMWs frequently come in for anecdotal criticism for habits on the road that are perceived as aggressive. Now, a couple of studies, one in the U.S. and another from the U.K., appear to provide statistical evidence that BMW drivers are, to be polite about it, complete jerks. In the older study, by researchers at the University of California, BMW drivers were far less likely to stop for a pedestrian who had just entered a crosswalk, the New York Times notes. “In our crosswalk study, none of the cars in the beater-car category drove through the crosswalk. They always stopped for pedestrians," researcher Paul K. Piff told the paper. He added that not only were "fancy cars were less likely to stop," but also that "BMW drivers were the worst." Drivers of BMWs and other high-status cars (including Prius hybrids) were also more likely to cheat at four-way-stop intersections, according to the research. In the second study, in the U.K., motorists were asked to identify the make and color of the car from which they have most frequently suffered road-rage incidents, the Daily Mail reports. The study of 2,837 motorists found men between the ages of 35 and 50 driving blue BMWs were most likely to be reported as having engaged in road-rage behaviors such as aggressive driving and swearing.
  12. Thanks! Did you ride too? One of my favorite pics from the weekend......
  13. Great day for a ride! Mile 25 rest stop Mile 50 rest stop Lunch! Mile 82!! FINISH! Me and my son, Jaxson Wife and son My family, that surprised me by showing up at the finish Mmmmm, beer..... Madness at the 50 mile lunch and rest stop.... Overview of my ride - my bike computer says I avg 16.28 and my heart rate monitor says I burned 5336 Calories!!! The city of Granville was AWESOME! They lined the streets and clapped, shouted, cheered, rang bells, church bells were ringing in the square, it was truly inspiring!! The surprise dinner my wife organized.... What a day!!
  14. Ride finished!! This was probably one of the most physically demanding tasks I've done in my life. This ranks right up there for me with pre-season conditioning for College Soccer and competing in a triathlon. It was an amazing day to ride, and I don't think the weather could have been anymore perfect for the riders, organizers, and volunteers. It was about 62 degrees at the start of the ride, and then it was dry and overcast for the first part of the day. It got up to about 80-82 degress and the sun came out in the afternoon. I ended up stopping at 4 rest points throughout the ride, I stopped at mile 25,50(lunch was served here),65,80, and then onto the 100 mile finish. I was riding by myself for most of the ride, and then about mile 60, I started pulling with 4 med students from OSU who were riding together, it really helped me get through the final 40 miles. The last 20 miles of the ride were probably the hardest because of all the hills that you had to ride. There was one hill towards the end that was one of the hardest on the route, I am proud to say that I did not have to get off and walk my bike up any hills on the entire 100 mile ride. To put it into perspective, I passed about 15 people walking their bikes up the final big hill within 10 miles of the finish. The organizers even took time to write inspirational messages on the ground, because that's exactly where you are starring when you're trying to 'dig' up the hill........... My wife has been a HUGE support and inspiration to me for this ride, and she did some amazing things that I didn't know was going on behind the scenes. When she dropped me off in the morning, I was under the impression that she was going to be the only one picking me up at the finish......well, it so happens that she organized for my entire family to be there who live 2 hours away in Perrysburg, OH. It as truly an awesome surprise. After the ride, they had food, beer, music, and it was a really cool celebration. We didn't stick around very long as I was mentally and physically drained. Within 5 minutes of getting the car with my wife for the 51 mile drive back to our house I was asleep within 5 minutes and slept for most of the drive home. Here is where my wife continues to be awesome, she told me we were just meeting 1 set of friends for dinner at a local restaurant right by our house, and she managed to organize a big celebration with a bunch of friends and the rest of my family (that I thought had left to go home already). It was a pretty amazing day, and I want to thank you all again for your support and donations to this awesome cause. Just so you know, if you still want to donate to my ride, you can still do so up until October 1st --> https://www.mypelotonia.org/riders_profile.jsp?MemberID=71373&SearchStart=0&PAGING Onto the pictures!! Opening ceremonies on Friday night All my gear laid out for the ride All the people close to me that I was riding for It's GO TIME! The start line, right before the event started facing forward Turned around facing the other way from the start...it was madness! At the start, riding down High Street Lots of riders.....
